its not a glitch, shes not supposed to wait for you that im aware, as soon as you accept the quest she wills tart walking, just kill mobs as you go, no big deal. It works like the escort quests in FFXI, but no where near as hard )

*edit* oh and she is located in Grundig Darkcloud's hut, just talk to her after you kill him for the related quest and kill two birds with one stone, cause the NPC you return to for both quests are the same. have fun!

After failing a few times because of the infinite respawn Ive put on my thinking cap.

I have finished the quest (L22 Warrior) solo.

This is what I have done.
1) Put on a shield and low DPS weapon (you dont want to kill them).
2) Run in WELL ahead of her so that she does not engage when you pull.
3) Pull the 3 mobs forward.
4) Kaya walks about 10 yards past the spawn and voila. Quest completed.

Previous comments on how to work around the currently bugged quest has proven true. Here are the main points summarized.

1. You WILL fail the quest if you stray too from from Kaya. I guesstimate it to be around 50 yards before you fail.

2. She will assist on you being attacked, but her assist range is only around 15-20 yards.

3. Using these two pieces of information you can keep your 40-50 yard distance and pull the three mobs WITHOUT killing them past the campfire. (Note: make sure the caster is far away from her as well.)

4. While you keep your enemy mobs distracted it will take around 20 more secs before she will raise her arms and say something at which point you're already too far from her to hear anything she says. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT KILL THE MOBS! Then you will complete the quest.

Extra: As an Undead priest, I shielded went into to pull mobs and moved while casting Devouring Plague on the caster so i could heal myself. On the other two melee mobs, I casted Touch of Weakness so they would hit me for less while I waited. I casted Shield when the timer was up and of course used my renew and healing spells. It's not that simple but it's not that hard as well. I assume every class will have a workable solution while we wait for bug to be fixed.

Approach this quest from the north, and when you escort Kaya out, you shouldn't have to deal with any enemies until the very end. When Kaya reaches the ruined village, three mobs spawn. They can overwhelm Kaya if you don't pull aggro off her. Use crowd control if you have it, just make sure you aren't using it on the mob Kaya is attacking. Pay special attention to the caster, he can deal the most damage.

I don't see how you would be able to solo this or even group it at 17.

But my 19 rogue and another 21 rogue, were able to draw the taurens away from the campfire and complete the quest, I died doing it, but just completed the quest before i died.&nbsp So it CAN be done...but not alone, well unless you're high enough lvl

With the latest patch I was able to complete this quest with ease. The ambush now works properly, and Kaya finally will follow you. The three instant respawns were supposed to only spawn once Kaya got in the middle of them, which they now do properly. They all target her first, but they can be aggroed away. After killing those three, she'll walk a few steps and say she can make the rest of the way herself.

Protect Kaya-quest is still broken. I suggest people to do this quest, right after maintenance. That way.. realm is rebooted, and the NPC reset :)

I successfully got her to follow me, but when she started fighting in the village, the trio of grimtotems there just kept spawning immediately the moment i killed them... eventually they overpowered me by sheer numbers

Is there something wrong with the quest?

Completed as a mage, incredibly simple. Clear from the north path as stated and you'll have a nice, boring, five minute walk down to the ambush spawn. Kaya has fairly limited health, but I had no problems - simply Arcane Explosion once and they'll all aggro to you instead of Kaya.

For classes without any form of AoE, just tab target and do your best to get in melee swings on the three adds to gain aggro off of Kaya. This will keep her alive, and you shouldn't have much trouble DPSing down the three mobs with her help.

You're probably going to do this quest with Kill Grundig Darkcloud, as it takes you to Kaya to start the quest and she paths back towards the quest turn-in.

To finish this quest, run back to the Stonetalon/Barrens zone. Makaba Flathoof is there, you do the final turn in to him, then that takes you to the next quest. At level 29, I got the minimum exp.

From the posts before there WAS a bug.I had exp. with that too.Even if I wasn't doing the quest, there were 3 Grimtotems standing there.I killed one and there WAS a non-stop respwn. They now fixed the prob and I completed the quest with ease.
A reminder:
1. (If you r like a lvl 20+ and won't get harmed...)Pull the Grimtotems BEFORE she reaches to where they are, then it will be less aggro on her and she will most likely attack the one u pulled.
2. I would most likley be a lvl 19+ even though I did have some troubles on my hunter.
Note**They have fixed the patch and it is now able to do.

When reaching the ruined village at the bottom of the hill near where you first find her. The mobs that spawn used to be bugged where more than 3 would spawn. Be sure to bring a friend in case it is still like that. Caster hurts the worst so be sure to take that one out and try to hold aggro off of Kaya.

Fixed... 1-7-06 She will set off down the path after you accept the quest. She will walk her own (slow) pace to camp aparaje. When she gets to the fire in the middle of the camp, three Grimtotem Ruffians will appear and attack both of you. She is an able fighter, but can't take all three of them. Once they're killed, the quest is completed.
