You must be level 60 to get this repeatable turnin quest.

Getting exalted should be done by a guild running Molten Core repeatedly and handing over all the turn-in items to one player, who then turns them in for rep and crafts the resulting recipes for the guild.

You can now mine a little of the dark iron ore in the Cauldron caves. At level 60, you can run by most of the mobs without aggro. So, technically, this could be done solo. It would take a long time, though.

Same here. I just got honored and took all the DI ore I had banked down into the bar and bought plans for the helm and the Fiery Chain Girdle, but no where did I have the opportunity to turn in the ore for faction.....I was lvl 56 at the time, now 57....is there a level requirement?

Dragged 33 stacks to the bar in a PuG on my 58 warrior, and what do I see?
The darn silver exclamation point...UGH!
Did buy lots of plans though for my lvl 300 armorsmith and 300 leatherworker. Since the patch I can now make a lot of those goodies (that will be fairly useless in TBC I suppose).

the quest chain starts in thorium point from the smith there do the quest and he will give you a repeat quest that needs 2 incendosaur scales + 4 kingsblood + 1 coal repeat untill friendly then quest will change to 4 dark iron ressin untill honored then you need to hand in 240 STACKS of dark iron ore or 320 Core Leather or 60 core or blood of the mountain to get to exalted you can mix and match what you hand in then its 420 Stacks of dark iron ore 560 core leather or 105 core and blood to get revered
1 stack of dark iron ore = 50 faction points
2 core leather = 150
1 lava core, firey core or blood = 200
from honored it takes 12K faction hits to exalted
then its another 21K faction hits to revered
the guy in the bar sells at freindly 1 enchanting 1 tribal 1 elemental 1 armorsmith 1 tailoring
at honored its another 1 enchanting 1 dragonscale 1 leatherworking 1 axesmith 1 swordsmith 2 armorsmith and 2 tailoring patterns
at exalted sells 1 axesmith 1 swordsmith and 1 macesmith also will give quest for Sulfuron Hammer for blacksmiths
at revered its another 1 enchanting 1 dragon 1 tribal 1 elemental 3 armorsmiths 1 tailoring and 2 weaponsmiths
hope this helps

After handing in the ores to the guy in TP to get honoured I'm now told to go into BRD to continue there. To go and see Lokhtos. So i go into BRD and int othe Bar area and see Lokhtos. I can see the plans for smithing items, but no quests. I'm currently honoured with TB but I'm wondering if I've missed a step or it is bugged in some way?

Don't hold your dark iron ore for too long. I had some dark iron ore in my bank for a rainy day and low and behold it is now indurium ore. I've had in the bank for what I believe is less than 30 days but not 100% sure.
