Ummm, let's see. Walk to the opposite platform, click a rat and then click flute. Do this 5 times. If you have trouble with quest, immediately exit the tram area, give away all your items, delete your character and ask Blizzard for a refund on your monthly fee. This isnt the game for you.

Fun little quest! Use the flute he gives you by targeting the rats running around, then right click on the flute. If you're in range you'll hear some flute music play and then the rat will follow you. Do that 5 times, then return to monty! If you don't see any rats just walk around and wait a few moments, they respawn really quickly.

I played at around 10 pm and I went to the platforms on either side of the quest giver. Then whenever a rat came near me, I played the flute. I had them all in under 2 minutes, easy.

I suppose it may be a time thing, then. Because for me, it barely took up any time.

one of the best quests in the world of warcraft... i wish it was repeatable...

also, it's shame that there is no a horde equivalent of this quest since waiting for the zepplin is another pain in the ass =)

I don't know how much time I have spent on this quest only to find one rat which was not entranced.&nbsp The other night I happen to be online at 02:00 in the morning and thought I would try one last time before quitting the quest.&nbsp To my surprise there were plenty of rats to catch and I finished the quest in less than 2 minutes.&nbsp Time of Day may make the difference unless WOW fixes it for daytime users.&nbsp Hope this helps all of you who have cussed this quest like I have.

I noticed that if you dot a rat and then use the flute right before the rat dies, it'll count as 2 rats. O_o

I got frustrated chasing the rat down so I dotted it and used the flute and it counted as two. x_X

Surprisingly, this critter attacks back.. haha

I did it at night, about midnight, but I don't know if that makes a difference. I do imagine it would be harder during peak times when a lot of people are waiting for the tram if for no other reason than somebody else might also be looking for rats, or might be in the mood to kill them before you can bag em with the flute.

The rats spawn every five minutes or so. Seems a lot longer when you are waiting. I found all my rats on the side of the tram station where the entrance is, not in the middle or the far side.

It took me two spawn cycles to get five. The first spawn I got three but some guy killed a fourth before I could enchant it. I didn't see a fifth.

Then I went over and sat in the corner with my three rats until the next spawn. Got the last two I needed and cashed in for an easy 900 XP.

I have to say this took me less than ten minutes at 4:00PM EST. Found all the rats together on the track bed, not on the platform. Using the flute is a little tricky. Make sure your backpack is open. Left-click on the rat to select the target, then right-click on the flute in your bag. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

I got 990XP at lvl 11, 5S (not too shabby) and 10 rat kebabs (restores 243 health). Amusing and of course, the rats don't fight back...

Did this in 3 mins. Went down the ramp of one of the sides, there were three there, came back up and went down the other ramp, the rest were there.

Easy as pie

900 Experience points for such a pointless task.

Definitely worth it.

As long as you have the quest active, you can enchant as many rats as you'd like. Individual rats un-enchant after about five minutes. If you abandon the quest, using the flute on a rat causes it to attack you, but enchanted rats will still follow you unti their time runs out.

Still don't know if anyone else can hear the flute noise...

Can other players hear the flute? I pretty much regret ever finishing the quest if they can. Would be fun to use in the AH to annoy people..

It's not true that level 12 is needed. A friend did it at level 10, but I couldn't do it at level 9, so, level 10 it is.

To make this quest go even faster , put the [Rat Catcher's Flute] out on the action bar.
Then you just target some rats , spam the key , and deliver! =P
