Wanted! Otto and Falconcrest

Bring Otto's Head and Falconcrest's Head to Captain Nials at Refuge Pointe.
Otto's Head
Falconcrest's Head

Description

The Stromgarde Militia has placed bounties on the heads of Lord Falconcrest, and his bodyguard Otto. Falconcrest heads the Syndicate's efforts in the Arathi Highlands, and his death would cause a major disruption in those efforts.

His bodyguard Otto, although not a strategic target, is a fierce opponent and has killed dozens of our defenders.

Their bounties may be collected from Captain Nials.

I went in with a group last night. It wasn't easy. And we certainly had our due of dying. Before I began, here is the group breakdown.

Lv41 warrior
Lv38 assassin rogue (me)
Lv36 assassin rogue
Lv34 holy priest

We had no problem clearing the Keep before reaching the final room. Both warrior and priest did an excellent job in their respective duties. Then, we reached the room where Otto and Falconcret are. And hell broke loose.

There are 3 mobs (combination of syndicate rogue and magus) in that room, but outside otto and F's aggro area. So we pulled and killed these 3.

Both Otto and F are lv40 elite. Standying next to them, there is one 37ish magus elite and one rogue elite guard.

When you are facing them, F is standing in the middle of the platform. Otto and magus are to the left and syndicate rogue is to the right.

After experimenting(dying) couple of times, we realized magus, otto and F are linked together. Any pull of one of these 3, the other 2 will respond. It is however possible to fight these 3 without aggro the syndicate rogue. (will explain this later)

In term of killing difficulty, magus is the easiest. Otto is medium, F is as hard as a piece of rock.

Failed attempt #1:

38 rogue sapped F. The group actually managed to kill Otto, but we could not kill magus and syndicate rogue fast enough. F woke up, joined the fight. TGW (total group wipe out).

Failed attempt #2:

38 rogue on the way to sap F. Failed to sap, Otto, F and magus join the fight to slaughter poor 38 rogue. 38 rogue panicked, other group members out of team spirit joined in the fight. TGW. In this case, 38 rogue should either die or simply vanish without the entire group aggro mobs.

Failed attempt #3:

38 rogue sapped F successfully. The group killed Otto and magus. And just when everybody just starts to pound&nbsp F, all roamers RESPAWN! A 4-on-1 fight turned into a 4-on-4+. The result? TGW. During this attempt, we realize F is as hard as a piece of rock and takes forever to kill.

Failed attempt #4:

Immediately rez in the hallway outside of room, we were detected by mobs. We actually managed to handle the mob pretty well, but we didn't anticipate the mob flee to aggro tons of other mobs. The result? TGW before even seeing Otto and F. Actually, 38 rogue managed to vanish in time to save himself. This act prompts the warrior player to claim: "I want to be a rogue for my alt!"

Successful attempt:

We sent a general channel msg and got ourselves a lv36 mage. We went in again without any difficulty and clear other mobs to leave the last 4 on the platform.

38 rogue saped F. Mage sheep either magus or Otto. Sorry, i was so nervous after sapping F, i did not know who Mage sheep. The point is in this short span (sap only works for 15 sec if im not mistaken), the entire group focus the attack power on one mob. Once F wakes up, warrior and 2 rogues immediately focused on F. Boy, let me tell you it took us a lot of time to kill F. During the fight, 38 rogue realized mage was in trouble, being hit by Otto. 38 rogue left F to attract Otto away from mage. 38 rogue saved the mage and killed Otto. In the mean while, warrior and 36 rogue finished F.

Summary:

If you are lv50+ or have a 60 friend to watch over you, you pretty much can do whatever you want. But for a group similar to mine, here are some key points.

1. Don't aggro syndicate rogue guard. fighting 3 mobs is better than fighting 4. When you are facing mobs, keep the fight at the left half of the room or at the end of room. Because the syndicate rogue&nbsp is at the right half of the room.

2. Have crowd control ability is the key. Sap and sheep or charm will take 2 out of 3 mobs out of action for a while. And that is the key. Btw, 2 rogues will not be sufficient to stun 2. Because once one rogue saps, the other 2 mobs will be in combat. And sap will not work on a mob who is in combat. We tried that during failed attempt #1. But I suppose you can try to sap simultaneously, but this is hard to be done in a pickup group.&nbsp

After the fight, we realized that 37 rogue guard was not even aggroed and still in stealth mode. :) We finished him off, roll on the chest, left the Keep and lived happily ever after.

So this is the deal, you walk in the Stromgard, and walk straight into the building upstairs, they are found on the top floor.

Otto is lvl 38 Elite and Falconcrest is 40 Elite, they also have a stealthed rogue lvl 36 with them and also a mage lvl 38. There are many other mages and rogues on the way up.

What you need is this, Healer, Tank, Mage for polymorph, and your set.

This one was actually really easy lol, well for me at least. we were a group of 5, lvl 38, 52 and 35 Mage, lvl 33 Warlock and lvl 51 Paladin. It still actually took long to do, even with the lvl 50s, cuz there are a lot of stealthed rogues, so u basically fight about 4 at a time...

You will need 2 people for this quest. I am a level 45 druid and was able to pull well enough to get it down to otto and falconcrest. With their stunning and quick damage you would need to be in your 50s to solo this quest. They are not randomly walking around stormgrade they are on the top floor&nbsp of the large build located at 26 65 CT mod coordinates. Good Luck

True, this is a fun quest.&nbsp You need to have a coordinated group with people who know how to work their class.&nbsp You will need a couple of 40's if you are 30's.&nbsp Got to have a healer and tank.&nbsp Just getting to these guys is fun.

There are usually groups waiting for these guys so you might get lucky and have another group there already (it is not an instance).&nbsp So you can have 2 groups killing, one group helping the other group and the other group sticking around for them to spawn.

Somehow we missed it in our younger days, so the two of us went back, a Level 48 Mage and Level 47 Hunter, and tried this quest.&nbsp We were actually collecting Badges the first time we got to them.&nbsp The two of us and my pet Croc were able to take care of everything up to the final room very easily.&nbsp In that room, the stealth guy appeared separate from the other three, so we took care of him first.&nbsp Then we sheeped Otto and worked on the two remaining.&nbsp Falconcrest was VERY hard -- did lots of damage and just wouldn't die.&nbsp End result was that the Mage died but I finished them off in one shot.&nbsp We both used Wildvine Potions, mine doing better.

THEN we learned about the Wanted Poster and had to go back in.&nbsp The second time we rearranged the way we did things, still sheeped Otto but worked on Falconcrest a little faster, and both survived easily.

A fun battle specifically BECAUSE of how tough Falconcrest was.

We wiped on our first attempt but succeeded 2nd.

First, the 37 magus and the 37(?) prowler *can* be pulled without agroing O&F.&nbsp For the magus, I hit him with a dagger then ran out of the room.&nbsp He followed and we fought him at the door.

Second, keep in mind that all these guys run when low on health, so keep the trash mobs away from the bosses.

That leaves only the two bosses, and if you have any CC, it's not too hard.&nbsp I sapped O and we went after F.&nbsp You might consider doing it the other way as O is much easier to kill.&nbsp We were still working on F when the sap wore off O.

Finally, the respawn rate is insane.&nbsp On our first pass, we had killed O but failed to finish off F due to not havnig pulled the prowler first.&nbsp By the time I ran back from GY, we ended up having to reclear the entire room, and even O was back.&nbsp So if you wipe, be real patient or you'll have new trash mobs spawning in the middle of your boss fight.

Soloed most of this with a level 50 Hunter with Marksman Specs.

Was able to pull all of the Mages and Prowlers to 1v1 combat though Otto (L38 Elite) and Falconcrest (L40 Elite) come together.

Was able to take out Otto after feigning death to get the aggro off, though Falconcrest hits way too hard as well as disarms alot. Died a couple of times to Falconcrest before asking for help with him.

Good to take another able body to assist.

I solo'd this as a lvl 42 rogue. Not too hard to stealth into thier room.

I first stood in the far back right corner and pulled the prowler back there, killed him, then shot the other prowler at the back, they both came solo without pulling the mage.

I then attacked the mage in the middle of the room without pulling the target mobs. There is a prowler up the steps with the targets, he pulled solo with an arrow shot also.

For the targets, I sapped Falconcrest and killed the mage with otto beating on me, then vanished, went to the back of the room and healed up. I also killed some other mobs in the hallway while waiting for vanish to cool off.

Sapped Falconcrest again and killed Otto. Vanished.

Then Falconcrest was solo = easy kill.

Notes: I have the Talisman of Arathor (rep reward from friendly with AB, absorbs 310-378 physical damage. That helped. I'm also very well geared with all blue's and an Epic (wsg rep reward bracers). 2410hp.

Used 2 Flash powder, and evasion once (on Falconcrest), no blinding powder, no healing pots.

Completed this with a 5 member PUG. I was L38 NE R, one other L38, others L32-35.

Even though we were working very well together, we got some bad pulls and several of us died (I got whacked twice). Things were complicated because another group was working the tower, and they were pulling mobs which made things very confusing...and dangerous if they didn't kill them.

Took about 30 minutes, but we got it done. We basically tried to pull mobs one at a time and hack them to pieces. As a Rogue, I would slip around behind and backstab as many times as I could, often for >350 HP which was a big help. Also had poison coated weapons in the main and off hand.

Many times, mobs would pull with two, and things really got hectic, but we could still kill them. However, when we were unfortunate enough to pull three, we had to get lucky, otherwise at least one of the party might die before we could kill them all. There was at least one time when we pulled four...and all hell broke loose!

This quest is soloable, but just barly, at level 43.

When you get to the room that Otto and Falconcrest is in, clear the three adds in the room. Don't forget the stealthed rogue that's up on the platform to the right of Falconcrest...he is not linked.

Now you have Otto, Falconcrest, and a caster mob left. Kill the caster mob. You shouldn't have too much trouble killing the caster before you die. DON'T BURN ANY LONG COOLDOWNS HERE....you'll need them for the next step.

When you die you'll only have Otto and Falconcrest left in the room when you get back in. Kill Otto. This step is when you can burn your long cooldowns because it is very tough to kill Otto while Falconcrest is beating on you as well. You should be able to get him before you die as well.

When you come back this last time the room will probably have respawned. Got to the back left corner (to Falconcrest's right) to respawn. Even though you are only at half life/mana, you should be able to take him down by himself.

Very difficult, takes 2 deaths, but can be done.
