Amongst the Ruins

Bring the Fathom Core to Je'neu Sancrea at Zoram'gar Outpost, Ashenvale.
Fathom Core

Description

The Twilight's Hammer has moved into the Moonshrine Ruins of Blackfathom Deeps. Their presence can only serve to coerce the elements into working against us. If left unchecked, this region will be theirs for good.

<name>, go into Blackfathom and find the ruin's fathom stone; it should be somewhere close in the water. In it is a fathom core - a device that when properly read it will relate a history of all elemental activity. If I have it, I and the Earthen Ring can maybe do something to stop them!

The Fathom Core is actually under the water. The water area I am talking about is the part where the path actually makes walls for you to walk inbetween bodies of water.

The Fathom core is found as a lootable item called Fathom Stone, so don't let that fool you. When Barn Aquanis spawns, kill him and you get a Strange Water Globe, which leads you to the quest, http://classicdb.ch/?quest=6922 .

The Ruin's Fathom Stone is underwater, just in the big pool, before you arrive at the final big Boss location.

You don't have to go inside the Big Boss walled room to find it, but it is underwater in previous pool, in central location, and looks like a small cone, parallelepiped.

Doing this dungeon you will find 2 big pool location, one with a Big Turtle and, going to north, this other big pool area with ruins where you will find, going underwater, the Stone.

if u wanna finish this quest any time today, listen to me:

get to the turtle island, once ure there, keep moving south on the main " path "&nbsp and eevntually it will lead u to a place where reach another big area, with an option to go to the water from the right, or go down the stairs on the left... u will realize is where im talking about if u notice that instead of monsters ure about to fight, u will see humans.. if u reached to that place.. u will see like a bridge... that cross the water to continuing of that path.. u need to go underwater THERE, and u will see the stone. right at the middle... again .. .once ure at the instance, just follow the MAIN path, dont go to the sides, its pointless.. u need to go south from the island with the turtle boss which im sure u got to.. south from there eventually will lead u to that placei&nbsp mentioned above.

i hope this helps in any way at all, because none of those comments above helped me..

good luck to you.

p.s
u can solo it by stealth if ure lucky and the monsters didnt detect u.. wll take u like.. 15 minutes if it goes smooth ...

Since it's hard to find, here is a map. The instructions on wowhead were not exactly specific.
http://classicdb.ch/?maps=719:522825

I had to take my 70 to go find this, since I hadn't seen it as a group with my alt.

It is indeed underwater. It doesn't shimmer like most other quest objectives, so keep an eye out. Under the walkway, in the water, where the dot on the map is.

Once you loot it, a 24 elite elemental comes out.

It's not a 28 elite, it is a 24 elite. You need to loot him to get the follow on quest as well as take the fathom core. This can be confusing as I am sure some people have just killed him and not picked up the quest.
The fathom stone is not easy to find despite the excellent instructions from previous people. We had to get in the water and swim around to find it as couldn't see it from land.

Read the quest you silly fools.&nbsp The quest says it's in the water near the guys, and sure enough . . .&nbsp It is!&nbsp Swim under the stone walkway that leads up to the temple and look out for the angry crabs.&nbsp The fathom stone is right there.

grabbed the shard, vanished....

waited for my vanish cooldown to finish before i attempted next try just in case but i didn't need it.

he got pretty close to one of the 26 elite aggressive crabs (in retrospect i wish i would have cleared them first), so i had to distract him while he and the crab were furthest apart, then cheapshotted him to start, backstab, thistle tea, ss, ss, .... etc.

just be sure to kick him whenever he is about to cast a frostbolt as that is what hurts the most (about 150 damage a shot), otherwise he just hits for about 62 slowly.&nbsp I had to use a greater healing pot but didn't even need to use evasion.&nbsp easy quest but it took a while to set up.

Have read all the posts before this, and yeah.&nbsp Here it is, in simple terms.

In the big "pool" area 2 rooms before the final boss room (directly in front of the room you have to light the alters), in the center of that room you'll see a little circle on the path that you walk.&nbsp The stone is directly under this "circle" -- it looks like a mini "metting stone" with some symbol on it.

This should help. =)

My bf and I accidentally came upon that quest while going through BFD.&nbsp At the time though, I was a lower lvl, so if I got the sword I don't remember it and probably sold it.&nbsp What lvl do you have to be to use the sword?&nbsp That's something I've not seen yet.

Witch's Finger + Zealot Blade is nice stats for a 29 mage or lock.&nbsp Better than Rod of the Sleepwalker although Zealot Blade is a highly sought weapon.

Zealot Blade + Witch's Finger:

12 int
4 stm
6 spr

Rod of the Sleepwalker:

11 int
10 spr

Then at 33 can get Hypnotic Blade + Prophetic Cane > Illusionary Rod

Go Horde!

After starting this quest go to blackfathom deeps, all the way to the bridge before the warlock boss, there is a sort of like pond ther. jump in, there should be a small can shaped sone with ruins on its top. activate it and ull get the fathom core (if u cant activate it means u didnt start quest). The baron guy will apear, kill him if u can and he'll drop a a start-quest item with a neat reward.

Ran through all bfd with my lvl 49 warlock, only stopped to kill bosses since my aggro radius is tiny. I needed the reward from the baron quest cuz it looks like a red glowing dagger, along with my blue glowing one (fake dual weild). pretty cool stuff....

For those of you who are having a hard time finding this:

Its located inside the instance, in the water below the walkway, just before Kelris. It looks a lot like an egg made of stone. Be careful though, when you loot this, Baron Aquanis spawns next to it.

i went to that middle ruin where ya jump from spot to spot then on to where that big turtle is lvl 25 elite.... and i still didnt find it.. well you have to look hard but there is some thorns that are directly on the other side of the island of turtles and a small slit you can go through... this is the way you have to go...
