The Pariah's Instructions

Read the Pariah's Instructions. Afterwards, obtain the Amulet of Union from Maraudon and return it to the Centaur Pariah in southern Desolace.
Amulet of Union
Provided Item:
The Pariah's Instructions

Description

Though exiled as a heretic, my beliefs still ring true--that alone drives me onward. But for my destiny to be complete, I need the aid of an outsider... one not of any centaur tribe.

The task requires someone to enter the holy halls of Maraudon--a tomb my people protect, and only the most devout are ever allowed to enter.

If you agree to aid me, then you need only nod. I will pass you a parchment with my instructions on it. Read it over and consider my words.

First, you have to kill an elite centaur named "The Nameless Prophet". He wanders near the stone door area. He will drop the Amulet of Spirits (https://classicdb.ch/?item=17757). Then you have to find the five Kahns:

Kolk, The First Kahn, is located just outside the little room where you create the portal to Inner Maraudon (Middle part).
Gelk, The Second Kahn, is located outside the portal of the purple path, hanging with the rock elementals.
Magra, The Third Kahn, is located outside the portal of the orange path, in the stairs area.
Maraudos, The Fourth Kahn, is located inside the purple path, wandering not too far away from the instance.
Veng, The Fifth Kahn, is located inside the orange path, wandering by the end of the path.

To be able to attack them, just select the Kahn and use your Amulet of Spirits.
Once you have all the gems, just click on a random one to create the Amulet of Union, which you will turn in to Centaur Pariah.

Ok, here they are:

Nameless Prophet: Once you enter Maraudon through the main gate, keep heading down towards the area where the dungeon splits into 3 main parts. He will come before that area. He will drop the Amulet of Spirits you use this to materialize the Khans in order to kill them. You can only get the Amulet of Spirits if you have the quest. If you don't, he won't drop the Amulet of Spirits.

1st Khan: Once the instance splits into 3 roads (left takes you to purple, right takes you to orange and middle has 2 centaur statues), take the MIDDLE road. Keep going down until you get near the portal room. The first khan will be there.

2nd Khan: He is outside the Purple instance on the bottom level. He will be near a fountain looking thing.

3rd Khan: He is outside the Orange instance on patrol. Go past the pool where you filled the Cerulean vial and keep heading in that direction.

4th Khan: Go inside the Purple instance. Head to the demon who gives you the Celebrian Diamond (Lord Vyletongue or something)

5th Khan: I am positive about the others, but not this one since I got the 5th gem a long time ago. Pretty sure he is in the Orange instance.

To recap: 3 of the khans are outside the instances and the other 2 are inside, 1 in purple, 1 in orange.

I recommend using the orange entrance to the instance (turn north at the bottom of the entrance and you should be following orange crystals). There is an orange pool along the way you fill the vial for https://classicdb.ch/?quest=7029  Look for the red plants and use your vial when you are near them.

You can track the Khans using Track Undead if you are a hunter, or Sense Undead if you are a Paladin. That helps find them, since there aren't any other Undead nearby.

Head back to where the purple and orange forks split, and take the center path, kill the Khan there and go back to the purple side.&nbsp Follow the path, again avoiding most fights until you get to where the purple instance portal is.&nbsp Skip it for now, and head over the bridge, following that path to the next Khan.&nbsp He is in a room with 2 lvl 40 elite guys, which you can pull 1 at a time and clear out before killing the Khan.&nbsp Head back to the purple instance portal, heal up and go in.&nbsp Run along the path, and avoid the little jumping guys sticking to the right hand side of the wall.&nbsp Go up to the edge, and look down, there is a little 2 tier path down.&nbsp Jump on down and wait for the Khan to come to you.&nbsp Amulet him, kill him, loot the last gem, right click a gem to finish the quest.&nbsp Hearthstone out.

Took me about 4 re-sets on the orange side, and 2 re-sets on the purple side to successfully not aggro anything and catch up to the Khan, and learning their path.&nbsp If you don't reset, the Khan will be too far into the instance to catch him without aggroing anything.&nbsp I reset by logging out for a bit each time, but by manipulating parties, you can also reset instances.&nbsp All in all I ended up killing only about 5-6 guys other than the Khans for the whole quest, avoided the rest.

Had this quest in my log, partied and killed the last boss (using the inner maurderan portal) of the instance and got the quest "seed of life" by speaking to the spirt that spawned.&nbsp Hearthed out, went and turned it in and went back to the dungeon with no group.&nbsp Was able to solo this quest as a level 50 dwarf paladin, here's how...

Using sense undead to see them on the map, I killed the unkown/nameless prophet to get the amulet needed for the rest of this quest.&nbsp Went to the orange side first (right), avoiding most mobs, running to where the khan was.&nbsp Use the amulet to get him to attack you, kill him and take the gem.&nbsp Run to the instance entrance and heal up.&nbsp After entering this instance it is important to not aggro anything.&nbsp If you do, you will need to reset the instance (I did this by logging out for a few minutes).&nbsp Run up the spiral stairs, and stay to the left over the little bridge, jump a gap to avoid the mob on the bridge if necessary.&nbsp Hug the left wall and take the right fork, staying to the left side of it as well.&nbsp At this point, I had caught up to the Khan and was able to use the amulet, kill him and take the gem.&nbsp Run back to the instance entrance and you just finsihed the most difficult part.

This quest is given by a centaur who roams near the end of the zone opposite Najel's point. To find him can be tricky, but he normally wanders in the hills south by the coven (demon area). If you are familiar with the zone, this area of desolace is full of skeletons. There are two entry points for the skeletons with one entry in each side of a set of small hills. The centaur is on the demon side of them. Talk to him and get the quest. Head to mauradon (instance dungeon in desolace)

Mauradon is not a place for the meek. the entry mobs are in the low 40's and become elite quickly as you progress. This dungeon is located in the "Valley of Spears" which is full of very aggressive centaurs. The entrance itself is basically designed like a big mine with a metal looking fanged head with steel doors in the mouth. The valley it is in is closer to the coast, not far from both the horde village and the ghelkis (sp) clan of centaurs.

I soloed this trinket at 50 with my decently-geared hunter. It was not easy, but I will give you the gist of where to find things and what you need for the Mark of the Chosen.

First you have to kill a few normal centaurs working into the mine. In a little ways, you hit a small clearing with an unnamed prophet and 3-4 ghost centaurs. Kill the prophet for the base amulet (phase 1). Clear the room.

From here you are presented with three passages. To your left is the purple crystal area. To the right is the orange crystal area. Center is a crypt looking passage.

The first direction you want to go is center. Its a short passage and only a few fairly easy mobs. At the bottoom you will find a ghost centaur who is the first Khan (your targets, btw. there are 5 you will need to kill). He is friendly in ghost form. Target him. right click the amulet you got from the prophet and he will be zapped into physical form and attack. Kill him and receive the first of 5 gems you need to complete the amulet (and get your trinket reward).

Clear back out to the prophet chamber. Now you get to choose purple or orange. It really doesnt matter what order, but be aware that there is one khan in each direction (total 3 of the 5 khans). At the end of each passage is another instance where you find the other two khans (description to come).

Purple. You run into lots of roaming elementals and worms. These guys are pretty tough. Clear through till you enter the large primary chamber. Go along the right wall. You will see the instance entrance. Dont go there yet. Stay on the right wall. You will be presented with a bridge. Go to the right of it and down the stairs one level. Follow wall to left and you'll hit another khan. Kill and loot him and go back to the instance.

Purple instance. Both these instances are much tougher than the regular area. Come prepared. Clear till you see the first big drop down to your right (should only have to kill a few sprites). See the bottom of the ramp at the bottom of the pit? The third Khan wanders into that chamber. If you can keep that area cleared you can wait for him to come to you. Keel him and loot. Get back out to main area. Go back to prophet.

Orange tunnel: clear lots of basilisks. You'll come to a quest centaur in a moon well (for another quest). Behind her is a path downward. Go that way and clear to a little room. Introduce yourself to Khan 4. In that area is also the final instance. The toughest one at that. Go forth adventurer.

Orange instance: very very tough. Took everything I had to kill each flower at 50 solo hunter. My pet was usually toast by the end. Nature resistance is critical here. Buy potions or get a hunter to use his aspect. Like the purple instance, the Khan here will wander somewhat close to the entrance, but its trickier.

Kill the first two flowers just past the bridge. If you can, kill the roaming little centaurs that come into the room. If you cant. Just time them and avoid them on patrol. As you come off the bridge, clear to the left side until you hit the big room. This is roughly 5 or so flowers (and patrols if you wish). Khan will eventually come up your tunnel. Just be patient.

Kill him, click on one of your gems to unite the amulet and head thee back out to the quest-giving centaur for your new trinket.

Bigskyn has done a tremendous job there but I wanted to point out an error I found. A friend of mine needed only the third gem so we went into the purple instance as he described only to find the Fourth Khan.

As Robtm noted, the Third Kahn is in the Orange area. He likes to sit in a nook at 39, 57. He wanders out to the ledge every so often to look at the orange basilisks below him, then returns to his nook.

actually, i only needed to kill the first flower in the orange instance to be able to get the kahn. after a long time, he eventually walked up to the very bridge where the first flower (in the very first room) used to stay. i attacked him before he turned around, so it's possible that it would be possible to take him without killing any of the flowers.

stayed there waiting for quite some time though. and eventually i failed to kill him (lvl 47 shadow priest). he was a bitsh. gonna try again with either a friend or wait for lvl 48. :)

This trinket is insane for Protection paladins that level up using AOE grinding. When you fight 10 or more mobs, this will proc constantly, giving you an awesome +25 to all stats. Quite possibly the best trinket to have pre-Outlands.

Unfortunately, Maraudon is a $%^&ehole. It takes forever to go through, and most people that go there just pop through for the Princess anyway. Killing her rewards another nice item for a Protection Paladin, though (Thrash Blade, both Alliance and Horde)

okay,I found a real easy way to get the 4th and 5th gems. Maybe even solo it, without having to do the entire instance, or even a portion of it

First off, as everyone knows, inside the main cave you have the red-crystal area and blue crystal area. In those two places, instances start. Now, the spirit actaully starts off right at the beginning of the instance, and walks slowly away (which ends up being much quicker than you can kill the npc's). If you very quickly enter the instance and run through it, you can catch him before he gets too far. One or two agros is all I got when doing this.

After you kill him on one side, simply go over to the other side (go to the purple side or the red side, depending) and repeat the processes.

If you are a class that allows you to detect undead, you will be able to see him on your minimap, and will see how close he is to the beginning of the instance

The Second Kahn is on the Purple Side, before going into the instance in the large, multi-leveled, open area, on the second level. You can find him easiest by going to the gateway to the instance, then going down the stairs just to the west of it, and following the path down until you get into a smaller cave area, and he will be straight ahead in the path.

Followed those instructions, worked like a charm. Although I had a little problem at the 4th khan (purple instance).... got him in physical form, and he walked into a large group of mobs, shooting arrows at me. Couldn't go to him, couldn't go back (another mob). So I just took the swords, and at 1000HP used vanish. Immediately after that he appeared in front of me (where he was in the first place). Used everything I had on him, praying not to aggro the others. Evasion, blind, bandage, 200hp left, bam did it.

If you follow the directions in Bigskyn's post you can find them all. One of his Khan numbers is off but it's in the right location by the discription. I soloed this as a lvl 49 Druid. I was able to stealth to each one only having to fight to clear a fighting area. For non-stealthers, the directions to each Khan is the same but you obviouly have to fight a whole lot more.

Khan1 (Purple side) and 3 (Orange side), if can stealth to them there really isnt anything to clear to fight them once you get to them. However, at Khan2 (Purple side) you will need to clear a few worms and if you didnt clear the Rock elemental then do so or when fighting the Khan make sure you back yourself into the water area where he stands. You shouldnt aggro the rock elemental. Well at least I didnt. Took out 1 - 3 with relatively no problems.

Khan4 (Purple instance) is a little more of a pain because he does like to range a good bit. As Bigskyn stated, you can get to a location to take this guy without much difficulty. Enter the purple instance, watch out for the little patrolling midgets (gremlins) and follow the passage to a large room. In the center there's a pit. You want to jump down on the right side where the ramp goes down. Then go into the tunnel and hang out at the torch that's in there. He'll come by but not sure what the time is on his route. He does net and range. So, when ever you are in melee with him keep pulling him back into the middle of the tunnel. This way when he nets and goes to range, he does put you into aggro range of the trees when you give chase. Then stealth back out of instance.

Khan5 (Orange instance)- The pain in the ass Khan. There's the hard way and the easy way to take this guy. Both are reality hard when it comes to it. lol After entering the orange instance, go up the stairs and you face a Lasher. Mine was a 45+ elite. One would say cant be that big a deal. Well, the SOB killed me 6 times. It has its ability to do knockdown, which kept me from healing most times. If you are able to kill this guy you just made life easy on yourself. Khan5 almost comes up to where that lasher was standing. Now wait on the khan and kill him. Killing the lash just provided you with maneuvering room. Khan5 likes to net and range a lot. This was the easy way to kill the last khan. Now the hard way if you cant take the first Lasher. I say hard because of where you have to fight the khan and the possibility of aggroing either of the two Lashers you will be fighting him in between the Lashers. As stated, couldnt kill the Lasher. So, hard way was for me. After you get to the first Lasher, stealth past and go down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs go right and go into the corner along the wall. In this spot depending on your lvl, you shouldnt aggro either Lasher. I timed Khan5's route and it's about a 30min walk from the stairs until he comes back. When you see the Khan coming, you may have to inch a little along the wall towards the stairs to get the amulet within range once he hits the stairs. I stayed in the corner as much as possible but as I said he ranged a lot. So once unnetted I had to go get him into melee and draw him back to the corner. If you dont do this and you go out to get him, he will net you and run further out towards the near by Lasher. As far as I could tell, he wont bring it into combat on you but you cant go get him because you will aggro the Lasher. So always back him into the corner during melee. After being netted once, I stayed at range and waited to see if he would come to me and go into melee. He didnt. He just kept ranging and netting. So, you must go get him and pull back. He is relatively easy to kill. It's just getting him to stay in melee combat.

Not really hard. Cant say what works in purple instance for ppl without stealth, but the centaurs outside are easy soloable, if you can make you way through the mobs.
The only tricky part soloing this is the orange instance.
What workes for me was entering the instance, killing the first flower - which is the hardest part. As i made it with my druid 48, i could fght on the brdige, and jump down to heal me somewhat kiting the flower the way down. Once he flower ranged-stunned me, dont know if that was just lag or it is indeed a ranged stun.
However, after killing the flower you can go screw daddles. As it will take the Centaur about half an hour to return to the original point. When he reaches the first bridge, he will stand there for one second or two, then return. Catch him there, its easy (but dont screw dadles for too long).

Long Story short: FOr last Kahn, go in orange instance, kill first flower, wait 30 minutes, then kill khan.

By Anonymous on 02/17/2007 (Patch 2.0.8)
Orange instance is easy, not hard. As soon as you get inside the instance run to the bridge. Make a well timed jump past the first flower, use amulet on Kahn, kill him, run out. It is that easy! You don't have to kill anything except him and you don't have to wait 30 mins for him to return or anything, except if you decide to attack the first flower which is completely pointless.

If you do it too slow the first time and the Kahn gets away, go out of the instance reset it and try again. Remember you can only enter 6 instances every 3 hours, so your tries are limited!

EDIT: I did this as a 51 priest without using any spells or special abilities to avoid aggro. All it takes is a well timed jump. If you are a rogue I would caution against stealth as the Kahn will get away from you and you will have to wait forever for him to return. If you are a hunter or warlock, dismiss your pet so that you don't draw aggro on the flowers.
