A Hero's Reward

Claim your reward from Hydraxis' Coffer.

Description

<name>, your services to the Warlords surpassed all we could expect from the denizens of this world.

We do not understand your people's notions of gratitude, or rewarding good works, but in this case... perhaps a reward is warranted.

Under the surf at the southern base of this island, you will find a coffer. In it you will find your... reward.

Go, <name>. Claim your reward.

To get this quest go to Baron Hydraxis in Azshara.&nbsp He gives a few quests to kill elementals around the world.&nbsp Return them, and he gives you a quest to kill some trash mobs in MC.&nbsp Once you have done that you need to get (if you haven't already) honoured with the hydraxians, at which point he gives you a quest to return the hands from 4 of the MC bosses.&nbsp Hand these in and he rewards you with this quest.

Long process, but worth it for the reward which gives you a nice ring for Onyxia/Ragnaros/Lava Packs, as well as the ability to get Aqual Essences, which are required to summon Ragnaros.

Seems like a good deal of work just to get this ring, but you can summon Domo in MC, so I guess its worth it.

The ring sucks though. I mean, sure, its alright and all, but hell, just go out and get a painweaver band, or an ogre king band or something. It's really not worth the time to do this.

Still want it?
Fine, fine.

Here's a walk-through:

Get to Ashzara.
If you don't know how to get there, go as far East as you can in Ashenvale. If you made it into the Barrens, you're too South, so go North until you see the Warsong Lumber Camp. There's a bridge in the area, or you can just swim over or whatever. Alliance camp is really close by, follow the road and you'll see it.

The flightpath is from the Auberdine harbor to Ashzara.

Things about Ashzara
Pretty heavy on the PVP for such a large area. You won't find anyone in the water/on the coast, but you will definately see other members near the flightpath camps or on the mainland. 60s also farm the area for Runecloth and such. No worries if you're not on a PVP server.

Giants and such:
There are elite Giants, Elementals, and such - wandering around the area. Cliff Stormers are on the mainland, and there are also (Tidewalkers?) in the water, also a giant.

Mulgore again:
Pretty highly popped area for creatures.

/Tloc for the Quest Giver
79, 74

He gives the quests
[56] Poisoned Water
[57] Stormers and Rumblers

These quests are mindless, but expensive and annoying for the traveling costs. It requires you to go to Sithilus and Eastern Plaguelands.&nbsp

'Best if you hearth to IF, and fly to the East.

Tip
For the Alliance, if you do UBRS and talk to Awbee, and grab their quest scale, you go back to Haleh (In Winterspring. Use the flightpath from Aszhara to Felwood, and then Winterspring) for a continuation to the quest.

The next quest of that chain will teleport you to Eastern Plaguelands. This is great for the quest Poisoned Water, and will save you alot of time, and some silver in flying.

Poisoned Water
Ride over to Blackwood Lake (50,50) in Eastern Plaguelands. There are about seven that spawn there at a time, and the respawn time is about five minutes. Once I cleared the lake, I had to wait for a minute or two for the respawn.

Use the potion he gave you to clear, and pull the Elementals. The drop rate of their bracers is 100%.

I'll update as I go along =)

"crappy ring"? Here's a guaranteed fact for you: when ragnaros finally goes down, every tank in the raid that killed him will be wearing the ocean's breeze. These rings are brilliant for MC, and since as things stand now MC=endgame, these are the endgame rings. Sad, but true.

I can't help but think that after this quest line (farming MC and such), you'd expect an epic reward... Killing 4 bosses in MC in a 40 man raid seems pretty epic to. Don't get me wrong, the stats are nice, but I'd expect more for all the effort.

As a rogue, my FR set has 158FR, I wear it at Mag, Baron, and Rag.

Rogue not using FR at mag is stupid because you'll get feared and inevitably run through a couple spit balls.. it's nice to not die when that happens.

One thing ppl seem to be retarded about is stam vs FR... you need both duh. Don't use stupid greens that drop all over that have nothing but FR.. get some stuff with stats too.

I use felhide cap with the 20FR arcanum, SC legs with 20 FR arcanum, emberfury talisman, flamescarred shoulders w/ mantle of dawn, nightbrace tunic, molten belt, corehound boots, smokey's drape with 7FR enchant, rogue trinket from DM, and this ocean's breeze ring.

This is apparently a "known" issue. If you are a night elf priest, you will not get the quest "A Hero's Reward" upon completion of the Hydraxian quest chain and therefore will be unable to obtain your Tidal Loop. If you have completed the chain, you should file a GM ticket and ask to be sent this item.

I put "known" in quotes because despite what must be many reports of this issue, it currently remains unfixed.

If you're a horde player looking for the duke, I suggest this way. Start leaving Orgrimmar and go into Bladefist Bay (the body of water right outside) and swim northeast towards Azshara. Stay on the outside of the land and avoid mobs which isn't too hard. Once you reach the tip of the southern peninsula or crescent or whatever you want to call it, just head north and you should run into a small island with the Duke on it.

+15 fire resists for a RING is a lot, add it up with the rest of your gear and this thing is pretty neat.

And you don't do MC for quest rewards anyway, but for the epic loot :)

The fellow above who suggested ranged classes don't need FR in MC has clearly never played a ranged class in MC. Or any class, possibly. Yes, you VERY much need FR in MC as ranged class. My hunter has 154 unbuffed FR and my damage meter still shows a lot of fire damage. The difference between now and when I had less FR is that now I'm still alive at the end of the boss fights, and still standing after many who haven't worked on their FR. So, is this worth it? YES.

Maybe in everyday PvP instances like UBRS and stuff yes it sucks, however if you don't have fire resist on EVERY member of a ragnaros raid GG have fun never beating him.&nbsp

Always need to keep a set of FR armour in inv for Rag, and this ring is a perfect compliment.

This is a free ring in reward for doing molten core and etc. Jasper/MC ring is less expensive.

Well, this ring isn't bad at all but as many people says, it should be better. Only reason I'll do this quest is so I can get to buy the water, and it will save me some money from getting a new better FR ring but it's just a small bonus. If you have money and patience you can search on AH daily for Fire resistance and you will find a ring with around 12-15 FR for 20 gold, which I'd say it's totally worth. Yeah you miss some stamina and other stats, but if you have decent gear on other slots I think it might be better to save you the time if you don't like questing.

It all depends what you want, but no matter what you chose to do, you WILL need 100+ MINIMUM to even take on the lava packs without dieing. I have 121 unbuffed, 181 with the pally aura and still lost some serious amount of health. Difference was I had time to bandage and healer had time to heal, so I didn't die :) Guys who had 40 unbuffed died in seconds... Was only 1 or 2 but stil :D

The reward for this quest isn't a choice of rings. It's taking down Majordomo and Ragnaros. Look at the loot tables for those two guys, then tell us how crappy this reward is. True, not everyone in the raid has to have water, but several people do. So it's a necessity to progress.

DOnt immediatly think "POS reward". Look at those stats again. Thats a 15 FR ring with stats on it... PRICELESS to those who are wanting to kill rag. Killing Rag 2.0 is all about fire resistance since almost all the damage in that encounter is fire based. This is then becomes PRICELESS as it not only gives FR, but also has stats.
