I'm just writing to confirm that the library IS in fact the place you need to go. (Which is in DM north, and you can get there by yourself, and hearth out)
-----------

The trinket looks a lot like this:

+10 Fire Resistance
Equip: Restores 8 mana every 5 seconds.

-----------
Mage Only&nbsp :-P

Used the "blink through crack" technique to get my +FR trinket on my level 54 mage tonight. Tried about 10 times to get lined up correctly, then read a comment about using first person view.

Switched to the 1st person view and it worked the first time.&nbsp Thanks all for the advice.&nbsp :D

btw: 6600 xp at lvl 54

How to get to the Library if you are a mage (no key required)

1. Enter DM and head to the North portal entrance.

2. GET NAKED! Pull a mob and get killed.

3. Walk back to your corpse, but DO NOT REZ.&nbsp While you are a ghost, walk through the locked door and rez between the locked door and the portal itself.

4. Enter instance.

5. Wait for the single patrolling mob to walk out of aggro range to the right.

6. Run straight across the "hall", hug the wall, and onto the ramp.

7. Running at an angle, jump up onto the raised edge of the ramp.

8. Drop down off the edge of the ramp in the grass area (try to land on the raised edge that runs along the outer walls of the grass area).

9. Get as close to the next ramp as you can without getting aggro and blink forward onto the second ramp.&nbsp If you are 60, you can simply walk to the ramp, just be careful.

10. Walk down the ramp, switch to the "first person" camera view.

11. Line yourself up so you can see THROUGH the crack.

12. Blink (you should suddenly be on the other side of the door, inside the hallway leading to the library)

13. No mobs from here, so just walk down the hall into the library (which is filled with "friendly' NPCs), turn in quest, get your trinket, dance a happy jig, hearth out.

Yes, you do have to die once to get through the first locked door, but if you get naked before you draw aggro, you take no durability loss and hence no repair bill...&nbsp no paying someone to unlock the doors either.

Its actually quite funny to se what people write about this trinket.

The people who doesnt like it, are obviously people who has'nt been to Molten Core yet.

Tanks in MC and Onyxia's Lair should have at least 150 Fire Resistance, and best with 300.
Not so much for Lucifron and the other "small" boss's, but for Majordomo and especially Ragnaros.

The 150 Fire Resistance goes for spell casters as well, Ragnaros bursts out a fire wave that does 6000 damage (If i remember correctly) AND knocks you back, so you end up in lava.
Both the damage and the knockback can be resisted fully or to some extent, the higher resistance you have.

So yes, this book IS worth the while.

Just go into first person and look at the left side of the door straight on.&nbsp Try blinking at various distances and you'll get through, I just did it 10 minutes ago.

Worked for me today. Did this:

1.Go into 1st person view
2.Go to the left side of the door
3.Find the small passage between the door on the right and the stones to the left (you can look through this passage into the hallway).
4.Allign yourself so you're facing the passage quite precisely with the center of your screen (You can easily use your bottom HUD bar to find the center of your screen)
5.Press your blink button
6.You're in

Its not for the 60 water quest. That quest starts in the library, and you have to kill a named elemental in the easy wing.

The trick is that when lining up EXACTLY in line with the crack, walk forward and backwards while changing your 'attack angle' until you are positioned just in front of the crack and parallell to the door post to the left of the crack.

I found that it took quite a lot of adjustment of my angle to the crack until it was right. I could not do it until I could see the whole crack close up and also while beeing at a distance away. Then it was a piece of cake.

Good luck.

The FR is nice, and 8MP/5 is not worthless, but why is there no damage on it? The warlock one is all damage and no HP/5.

The real winner is the Warrior trinket. 10FR, 200 armor.

seriously, just get a invisibility pot for a gold or two, use the pot it after u start down the stairs, and just walk to the door in the 15 seconds the potion gives u, no need for all this extra stuff, just use the potion, much easier and less time consuming and still gets the job done quickly. no need to overthink the problem.

Yep, just remember that when you hit the grass area you want to drop down on the LEFT side of the ramp. Otherwise you will agro a whole pack of mobs.

Just like was said above line the crack up in the middle of your screen and blink away. I did it on my first try.

This trinket is only worth using at onyxia's lair and at Ragnaros.. If u want mana regen u can get a 10mana per 5sec trinket in DM as well, but warlocks, priest gets a trinket from DM that benefit them both in PVP and PVE, and Mage's can't use this in PVP at all. That sux for mages imo. Give the Mana regen to druids instead they can use it way more. So my advice only do the quest if you find the book, dont bather to buy it if its on AH for more than 5g. And 10fr aint that much :)

Hey guys.. just letting u know, cus i couldnt find too many posts on this myself.. this is like the easiest q, u can totally do this alone as a lvl 60.. if u dont have the key, i'd suggest u pay a rogue a couple of gold to come open the door for ya.. if u have atlas, have a look at the DM north thingy.. in the room it says #1, open the door and that's it.. really, the easiest thing i've ever done to get a blue trinket..

1) Get the book. By hook or by crook! (or by the AH like I did :))

2) Have the DM Key.

3) Go to DM North

4) On entering wait for the first ogre to start walking his patrol route. Once he’s gone run to the stairs leading down. Do not run all the way down these steps!
At the bottom of the steps is grassy courtyard. The door we want is on the west side.

5) Near the top of these steps (on your left) you can jump onto the step wall, and from there down to the ledge running along the grass. Do so. This avoids agroing the ogres near the bottom of the stairs.

6) Run along the ledge and jump across to the ledge wall leading to the door. If you miss don’t panic – at level 60 I was still able to move around the wall and to the door without agroing the ogres. Lower level players beware.

7) You’re safe! The door opens (you need the key again) to a long, but empty, tunnel that ends at the library. Hand in book. While there why not finish the quest to find a missing elf (his bones are next to a bookcase).

Hope this helps!

funny thing is, i remember the library in the scarlet monastery being called the athenaeum. Or maybe anthenaeum, don't quite remember. But since every book has said that and none have gone there that's probably irrelevant.
Sounds like the mage book maybe?

Once you get the book, you need to take it to a NPC inside the library area of Dire Maul.

Since you are a Mage, you can get into Dm without a key or wasting a blacksmith skeleton key or a Large Seaforium Charge.

It's easier to show than explain, so I just made a video of me doing it.
