The quest is a turn in to a Thorium Brotherhood guy standing in Gadgetzan by the forge. I didn't have any thorium at the time I checked this out, so I didn't get a chance to answer the questions below for myself.

Do these quests yield faction with the Thorium Brotherhood? Also, since you don't actually accept the quests, and can just hand him the thorium for the reward, is it possible to repeat these quests?

Methinks this could be a nice faction alternative to farming dark iron.

Klissar, the quest is definitely not repeatable. you can do it once for each set of plans. but they do give reputation i think its about 150 per set of thorium traded.

These quests are available when (as far as I know) you have completed the smithing quests in Stranglethorn Vale. I went to Gadgetzan to view the next quests and the thorium brotherhood guy was standing next to my questgiver with these Imperial Plate quests.

You can only do the quests once and the whole Imperial Plate set is available (if you have enough Thorium bars).

I think I was about level 50 when I reached this point, but I believe these are available even earlier (possibly 40).

Derotain Mudsipper is located in Gadgetzan. If your level is high enough (50) and Blacksmithing skill is high enough (265), he will give you the seven recipes for Imperial Plate in exchange for multiple stacks of Thorium Bars.

To complete all of the Imperial Plate quests, you will need a total of 270 Thorium bars, or 13.5 stacks (~4.25 faction per thorium bar). No other materials are required for the quests.

You get 100 Reputation points for agreeing to the exchanges and then 150 Reputation points for each plan for a total of 1150 Reputation points.

this was taken from http://www.wowwiki.com/Thorium_Brotherhood

explained how to get faction all the way up to exalted @ thorium brotherhood :)

i just turned in thorium for the pants and chest.
Got 200 rep for each turn in, though i know that you get less for the bracers, helm and others that take less thorium.
I've got friendly btw.

Cheers

He only wants 30 Thorium, what he says is incorrect.
