STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass

Find and return the Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass to Taskmaster Scrange in the Searing Gorge.

The only information you have about these items is the following: They were definitely stolen by Dark Iron dwarves. The Smithing Tuyere is a blacksmithing tool used by blacksmiths and the Lookout's Spyglass is an invaluable monitoring tool to lookouts.

Description

The following items have been stolen:

*One Dark Iron Tuyere.

*One Lookout's Spyglass.

A reward is being offered to individuals who find and return these pilfered items.

The Thorium Brotherhood is certain that these items were stolen by unscrupulous and jealous Dark Iron dwarves that inhabit the Searing Gorge.

The spyglass in question was an excellent tool for the lookouts and the tuyere was an irreplaceable smithing tool.

Should you find the missing items, return them to Scrange.

The Tuyere is only dropped by Dark Iron Steamsmiths. There are only a few that spawn, about 5 or 6 i think. They're near the steamery at 39,50.

The spyglass is dropped by Dark Iron Lookouts. You can find them near the towers that surround the cauldron.

Just to help clarify, the steamsmiths are directly south of Kalaran Windblade. They are up top, before the elevator that lowers you into the gorge.

I spent a lot of time wandering around in the caves below and couldnt find em... heh

WARNING: I just had a GM confirm that THIS QUEST is the one that BUGS the Gnomeregan teleporter quest line!!!!

If you complete this quest before you complete Chief Engineer Scooty (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=2842 ), you can NOT pick up that quest anymore, and you will NOT be able to get your Goblin Transponder (http://classicdb.ch/?item=9173 ) to teleport to Gnomeregan.

Reminder: Chief Engineer Scooty is obtainable after you talk to Nogg next to Sovik and accept Rig Wars (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=2841 ).

The GM escalated my ticket to a Character Specialist, said it will take 3-5 days for him to respond. Currently waiting for the response.

Found steamers around 40,50 (or at least in that vicinity), and lookouts at 33,52.

Got the Tuyere on my fourth steamer and the spyglass on my second lookout.&nbsp But liked the $$ and xp so much, I hung around and wiped the area...

Smithing Tuyere just dropped off a Dark Iron Steamsmith for me. Took me a while considering there arent many of them.

The "Dark Iron Steamsmiths" are around the steamery, there are in total 6 of them, they drop the "Smithing Tuyere". "The Dark Iron Lookout" drops the "Lookout's Spyglass". They are at every watchtower in and around the "The Cauldron", but be sure you don't go in a watchtower, there's a lvl 48 elite "Dark Iron Sentry" in it and no "Dark Iron Lookout", not really hard to kill that "Dark Iron Sentry" either.

There are 6 Dark Iron Steamsmiths in total. 2 at the Tents to the west of the Cauldron Smithy, 3 at the smithy, and 1 at the tents to the east of the smithy.

It took me just over 1 hour and 22 minutes to complete this quest. The hangup was the Smithing Tuyere. It just would "not" drop.

Got spyglass from lookouts at the tower at 33,54, Steamsmiths can be found at 38,50 , 40,48 , and 43,51

For those without co-ords the tower is the furthest to the west, and the steamsmiths are south of thorium point, along the edge of the cauldron going east

The spyglass dropped on first kill. The Tuyere on the other hand hasn't dropped after an hour+ of killing the steamsmiths.

I recommend running and doing other quests while they respawn. Such as killing golems, or spiders/etc.

I could only find 5 of these suckers. Respawn times varied, mine usually were about 8 minutes. I camped them for over 2 hours before I got the Smithing Tuyere. The Spyglass from the Lookouts was much easier. Could be just me and my bad luck, though.

The drop rate is somewhere around 4%, it's just a matter of your luck. If you don't get it soon, then just keep trying, the quest should take no more than 20 minutes.

Spyglass was easy. The tuyere took 22 kills and over an hour. I suggest you skip this quest.

EDIT : 37.49 did i found the [Smithing Tuyere] and at 33.52 i found Lookout's Spyglass, ill hope it helps =) I just needed to kill 3-4 before it droped :)

Using the drop %'s for any quest item is stupid anyway. If someone isn't on the quest the chances of the quest item dropping are zero, yet that kill will still be tallied in along with the rest.

Kinda skews the results.......

I was grinding for this spyglass for some 5 hours and got sick of it. In the meanwhile i abandoned and tool the quest perhaps 3 times. Then i submitted a ticket to GM, and got the following info:

Some addons are known to make problems with certain quests, try removing your addons and WTF directories.

I renamed them (didnt want to lose all the goodies in there), relogged, killed 4 lookouts and got the spyglass. Perhaps there is some wisdon in GM's words. Its hard to believe that it was pure luck.

ok so this quest has not been fun at all.

The lookouts are just west of the cauldron on the top. There average level is about 47 and I was lucky and got the spyglass on the second kill

The steamer dudes are right at the elevator that takes you down into the cauldron and they are on the top level. There are only 5 there that i could find and killed them and there respawns for over an hour. Still hasn't dropped. The only reason i haven't abandoned this quest is because the monetary reward is pretty good and even though I can't use the quest rewards I can disenchant them.

You can find the lookouts at base of the large towers surrounding the cauldron.

Towers are easy to spot and theyre also marked on the map. theres 4 towers altogether with 1 to 3 lookouts each and sometimes golems.

dont go up the towers though, theres nastys up them =)

got tureye somewhere near 10-15 kills. spyglass is a little harder since lookouts arent spawning for jack today

nm that - go to the west tower and there are about 7 lookouts there.

OK I do not know if this is just dumbluck or what but I broke one mouse cussed like a sailor and killed those damn SMITHS for days but then I tracked quest and next kill it dropped.:-(

Only had to kill around 6 smiths and 4 look outs, a few months ago when I was watching my bro do it, it took him about 2 hours to get the tuyere, and 30 mins to get the spyclass
