That is one stupid orc. It would appear as if you need to find this brand and gain the Mark of Drakkisath in order to access the Orb of Command.

The letter indicates that General Drakkisath guards the brand. Perhaps you should investigate.

Description

Imbecile,

I hold very little faith in your ability to prevent outsiders from accessing the master's lair. In the very likely event of your death, this orb has its own failsafe built in to prevent outsiders from teleporting directly into Blackwing.

Only those with the Mark of Drakkisath branded upon their hand may make use of this orb. Thankfully, Drakkisath is not nearly as incompetent as you, Quartermaster. He guards the brand himself!

This is for BWL Attunement. Basically, you loot the letter from the guy on the right before you enter UBRS, read the letter for the quest, then go all the way to the end, kill the general, then touch that glowing orb that's behind him. BAM, you're BWL attuned.

All you need to do is get the letter from the quartermaster who is near the UBRS/LBRS entrance.

Once you have the letter you start the quest and you need to go through UBRS and kill General Drakkisath and touch the orb to finish the quest.

You will then be attuned to BWL and able to use the outside orb to enter BWL.

This is without doubt the best quest in the game. If you don't usually have a full quest log I suggest keeping it just to read so you can fall in love with Rend Blackhand...

Just walk stright ahead from the right side of the BRS portal (outside the instance)... there are 3 groups of 2 guards before you get to the quartermaster. Easy soloable, for a 60 hunter at least. with my priest I just happened to be there when someone was killing em for fun.

You have to kill Scarshield Quartermaster in Blackrock Mountain he down opposite hall that leads to UBRS instance.

Once you have looted the Blackhand's Command you have to go into UBRS and kill General Drakkisath and use the orb behind him to complete the quest. You are now ready to enter Blackwing Lair. To enter you have to use the orb behind the Scarshield Quartermaster

I am a druid so I stealthed to him and soloed him very easily got the quest from him. Then a member of my guild was in a full 15 man raid and was on Drak so after they killed him and the first people started to leave he had leader invite me then I entered UBRS he summoned me and I touched the orb and was done. Very easy.

it drops from the scarshield guartemaster and he can be find when u enter blackrockmountain from burning steppes find the chains climb them up and jump into the black area go right behind some statue and u'll see a cliff yust jump over it ! then when u are in the room when u see ubrs go right and kill all the mobs and the scarhield guartemaster who drops it im lvl 60 paladin and killed him its pretty easy
ps.there is 6 mobs

me (60 rogue) and 60 mage did this in less then five minutes. Ran past the beginning two, didnt aggro. Killed the second two, then sapped one guy, sheeped the other, killed the guy and grabbed the letter, then ran into ubrs to get off the aggro. Easy stuff. :)

The orbs needs to glow when you touch it so you get the "print" on your hand.
The orb won't start to glow unless you kill drakki.

ivanov: this quest lets you go directly into BWL without passing through UBRS. Yes you can do it in a raid, might as well pick it up if you go on a general run.

Hey, i've have killed the quatermaster lots of times but i don't seem to get the letter. One time i grouped with a mage to kill the quatermaster, after he was dead the mage could loot the letter but i didn't. Any idea's how this can be?

i'm a lvl 60 full resto druid. First time i tried, i went to the broken ledge and tried to just pull the quartermaster but he brought 2 friends and i died. 2nd time, i went to the ramp directly to the left and starfired and moonfired the acolyte. get him down first since he heals... I just kept hots on myself as he did and when he finally ran out of power, i killed him. Watch it though, he runs away. I couldnt stop him fast enough so i moonfired him down and then went cat mode and sprinted into instance.. stealhed my way back, then tried to pull the other guard solo but this one brings the quartermaster. I killed the guard first, then stunned the quartermaster, healed myself and /win.

Easily done as a 59 priest, just mind soothed my way down to him, he was with a caster and a melee guard. mind soothed the two guards so I could get close enough to the quartermaster, mind controlled him and had him beat on his guards until the guards had him down to 10% or so. Cancelled MC and 1 shotted him with Mind Blast, looted quest item, feared and ran. Worked perfectly :D

Yeh so pretty easy was bored and hadnt done it so thought might aswell

First go to blackrock mountain and go by the instance portal to BRS, go down the corridor halfway and go down a ramp sort of, then you will see 3 mobs 1 healer 1 normal like warrior and a quarter-person.

You can pull the 2 and the quarter person doesnt aggro so its pretty easy kill the acolyte first (he heals&renews btw) and then kill other once killed them go for the one left over :P

kill him he will drop the quest item start it and get a gr00p to UBRS fight to the end and defeat drakki, once drakki is defeated click on the orb statue where he usually stands and voila now attund to BWL :)

just did this last night with my guild. Easy as pie. We just killed the quartermaster over and over until the letter dropped. We all looted it and proceeded to kill the General. The Orb is right behind him. Very easy attunement quest. Off the BWL!

Beginning quest for BWL, i think its like the attunement quest for MC, but for BWL. Get it from the Scarshield Quartermaster down the hall from UBRS. All you gotta do is "use" the orb behind drakkisath and your done, not even a turn in ^_^

Of course the loot tables say that this does not even drop with 50%, but is that because that people kill him more than once and therefore do not get the item every time? Or is it because there is not a 100% loot chance on this as FabienDejaVu suggests (see below)?
