To free Thunderaan the Windseeker from his prison, you must present the right and left halves of the Bindings of the Windseeker, 10 bars of Elementium, and the Essence of the Firelord to Highlord Demitrian in Silithus.

ok i have copied this from a post by XeniaAmil because i am too lazy to write it all but im not too lazy to click a link on this very page.

This quest begins when you loot either the Right or Left half of the Bindings of the Windseeker, which drop of Baron Geddon and Garr in Molten Core. Upon looting one of these, you must travel to Silithus and talk with the Highlord Demetrian, who will then give you the Vessel of Rebirth, which will start the quest.

What is required to complete this quest?

Right Half of Bindings of the Windseeker
Left Half of Bindings of the Windseeker
Essence of the Firelord- Quest drop from Ragnaros
10x Elementium Bar

Highlord Demetrian will guide you to an NPC in Winterspring, who will tell you of a Goblin named Krixix who was swallowed up by a rift in the earth while meddling with the mysteries of Elementium. It is he who holds the secrets!

Krixix is located in Blackwing Lair, of course. Elementium ore drops random off the goblins in BWL as well. So, what�s needed to make a bar of elementium?

1x Elementium Ore
3x Elemental Flux
1x Firey Core
10x Arcanite Bar

Multiply that by 10 for the total amount of bars needed and you�re looking at a huge expense.

After gathering all the items needed, return to the Highlord Demetrian in Silithus and summon Thunderaan. Rather than gain his blessing, he�s evidently rather angry after his imprisonment, and you must defeat him. After defeating him, you loot the Dormant Wind Kissed Blade and have the now Groveling Demetrian give you Thunderfury, Blessed Sword of the Windseeker.

I personally know this sword exists. on server frostwolf 2 horde have it. Hardcore and Yukito. the are both warriors and at least 2 alliance have this 1 a rogue.

I feel this should be for warriors and rogues only. I would like to have this but the cost is way out of my league. 100 arcanite bars r about 2000g, the flux is about 450g, the ore (if u buy it) 700g, and the core 400g. total cost is about 3000g w/o buying ore and 3700g w/ buying bars. However w/ the expansion coming out ill just w8 for something better. Im just looking for good armor as a new 60. Anyway cost has nothing to do w/ class but rogues need high DPS so this would make a crazy off-hand and a great tanking weapon. Hunters shouldnt have this cause they dont melee and pallys... well... not exactly a great melee class. gl to all seeking this

I saw a Tauren Hunter wield this in Alterac Valley, before the expansion came out. I just felt like saying this to give the "hardcore" players seizures and nightmares. Don't worry, I cried too, as I am Tauren Warrior myself.

I'd rather give this to a mage instead of a hunter. It would be simply funny with a mage, but a hunter with it makes most players twitch.

Just thought I'd share.

That swords ability is alot like Chain lightning sept it looks sorta better&nbsp (300 nature damage and the swords normal damage...wow)

Left bindings dropped today from Baron, it was a roll between the 3 most frequent tanks. I won it thankfully :) Went to the quest giver in NW Silithus to get me started, apparently the other bindings have a higher chance to drop once the person is on the quest, can anyone clarify this ?

if your raid fails to kill thunderaan, do you have to hand in an additional 10 elemental bars + other mats to summon him again?

This weapon is, well, amazing! Wonderful! Cool! Awesome! I' m a rogue and I think this weapon is for warriors to tank, but, it' s also very nice for a combat, sword specced rogue. I think for a rogue, maybe Chromatically Tempered Sword is better. But I don' t really know, cuz that Cyclone proc is amazing... good luck for every rogues and warriors to get it! :D And no luck for hunters and pallys! :DDD

This is a rogue weapon, NOT a hunter weapon...
Paladin and warrior is okay - Because they use it in melee...Hunters don't...

Just earlier we had our run intending to down Rag for the first time..

Got to Garr and he dropped the right binding, woohoo! Killed Baron and he dropped the left xD Double woohoo!

At this point I say " If we kill Rag AND he drops a legendary, I'll give all 10 of my Arcanite bars towards the sword.. "

1) Rag died. 2)..... it dropped! >< Essence of the Firelord dropped making one very happy warrior and one very poor priest :P

the skill to smelt elementium can learned by mind controlling kibixx in bwl and havin him teach it to the miners/smelters in guild. (right before ebonroc).

Oh gee, look... another epic (hell, legendary) quest geared towards Melee fighters. When the hell is Blizz going to give some end-game caster love? So far all there is is Benediction for Priests.

I had Bindings of the Windseeker drop last night from Baron Geddon on Doomhammer. I rode out to Silithus and sure enough, Highlord Demetrian is back in after patch 1.6 and he did, in fact, give me this quest. It shows up in a new category in the quest log ("Legendary") and is a level 63 raid quest. The description matches what is shown above. No specific reward is listed, simply "do this and gain the blessing of Thunderaan." Cryptic enough?

I figure in another 6-8 months of playing I might be able to gather up all the arcanite, figure out how to create elementium, get the other half of the Bindings to drop off Garr, AND manage to kill Ragnaros and have the Essence of the Firelord drop. (Yeah, right.)

By the way, if anybody has information on how to smelt Elementium Bars, please post it here...

The guy is back after 1.6. He only gives quests if you have the bindings. he's found in the NW part of Silithus at the ravaged camp. anything else?

I picked up the Garr bindings on Saturday....I'm the third tank in my guild to do have them, but still none off Geddon. The first was about 4 months ago and went to our main tank. He took a month off from raiding and at the same time I became the raid leader and MT'd in his absence. The third binding is on one of our other tanks who got his with a previous guild that broke up. Solid guy, very good tank. I guess it will be a dog fight for the Geddon binding should it drop, but I would pass. It's a great item and as long as it on an MT, the MT who will be tanking mobs most often, its a nice raid buff. I'm happy with Spineshatter and Bloodlord's Defender atm, but out of sheer coolness, I'd love to have this some day.

I suppose its a decent rogue weapon, but the 1.12 patch pushed them even further into the dagger niche. My wife is a sword rogue with Vis'kag and Brutality Blade equipped and her damage is behind our best dagger rogues, though part of that is surely attributable to her skills and some of her other gear. Hunter or Paladin? No. If you have a tank or 2 equipped and your rogues are kitted out with Perdition's and Drake Fang Blade or CHT, then I could see rewarding a loyal raider with the ultimate epeen weapon, but for the sake of progress, it should really go to tank or possibly a rogue.

Here's hoping they introduce a sort of ultimate Legendary weapon/item for each class. Indeed, there are some items that perhaps should be orange (Ashkandi?)(buff Benediction?) already. The argument can be made for a Retribution pally having a Sulfuras but I lean heavily toward DPS warriors for it.

sure the mats seem impossible to get, but id love quest like this for a staff. You know how frikin acomplished you'd feel after doing this? As well as being a legend on your server =D

I want a staff other than GBS. T_T

If you intend to kill this guy:

He has like 300k hits, maybe 330k and does good damage on the mt, but nothing that can't be outhealed. legendary loot from this bugger is the "dormant wind kissed blade" that has to be returned to demetrian after looting it. if for some reason you do not manage to kill him, you can always talk to demetrian again after turning in the bindings, essence and elementium bars, so there is really no problem. every raidgroup that is able to get past the first few bwl bosses should be able to beat him within the blink of an eye. just let the tank get him and dps him away to get teh phat lewt.

Here's a movie showing a duel with the Thunderfury blade. Afterward they summon Thunderaan and about 300 people on the server take him down very quickly.

Just a Minor update, Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker IS the reward for this quest line, it was completed successfully today on the Skullcrusher server.

And resulted in the sword as the reward.

As for the GM note, I am pretty sure that it means that the person that did the quest isnt the right class, HENCE not getting it.

Maybe he was using the exploit too so they werent gonna give it to him since it wasnt right.

The player might have been a mage or other class that cant use the weapon but most likely he/she was using the exploit and thats why the GM wasnt gonna give him/her the final weapon reward.

Here's a short guide to all you people, who are too lazy to find out yourself:

1) Get the Left oder Right Half of the Bindings to drop from Garr/Geddon
2) Go to Silithus and get the Quest from the dude in the northwest valley with the elementals in it
3) Run MC for the other half (right or left, depends on which half you already have)
4) Kill Ragnaros and get the Essence (100% drop IF you have the quest)
5) Go BWL and mindcontrol one of the goblins (Krixix i believe is his name) and use his special skill to teach "Smelt Elementium" to all the miners in the raid
6) Gather up 10 Elementium Ore (drop off the goblin sin BWL // one for each Elementium Bar), 100 Arcanite Bars (10 for each EB), 10 Fiery Cores (drops off mobs in MC // one for each EB), and buy 30 Elemental Flux (available at most Smithyshops // 3 for each EB)
7) Go back to Silithus and give all the stuff to the dude there (Have your raid accompany you)
8) Kill Prince Thunderaan, who will spawn in the valley
9) get his loot
10) There's your Thunderfury! Be happy with it! ^^
