If you're the industrious melee type, and you're not in a raid guild, Darkmoon Faire offers one of the best neck pieces available to you with this item. You will have to work to get the 1200 tickets to get the item. I have found that farming rugged leather and making rugged armor kits was a fast way to get tickets.

Here is a breakdown:

8 rugged armor kits = 20 tickets.
You'll need 480 rugged armor kits to get the required 1200 tickets. It is completely obtainable with some work, and it is a great reward for the effort.

You can obtain either the Orb or Amulet of the Darkmoon by collecting tickets by handing in specific items. These items can range from Small Furry Paw to Glowing Scorpid Blood as well as many crafted items by Blacksmiths, Engineers and Leatherworkers.

Note: In all of this, the auction house is your friend!

You can gain a head start by solely handing in Vibrant Plumes. If you hand in other low level items you will gain less tickets and require more of an effort with the higher end - so don't do it! A total of 125 Vibrant Plumes is required for 25 turn ins (5 per turn in.) Giving you a total of 300 tickets.

Now you require 900 more tickets. For maximum ticket gain, at 20 tickets per turn in, you have a choice of: 10 x Evil Bat Eyes, 10 x Glowing Scorpid Blood, 8 x Dense Grinding Stones, 6 x Thorium Widgets or 8 x Rugged Armor Kit.

This equates to 45 turn ins, or depending on your choice of item:Good luck! ^_^

It depends greatly on your server's economy on which way is cheapest... Typically it's dense stone, but sometimes it's thorium bars.
Here's a quick way to find out how much it's going to cost you per turnin:
Multiply the cost of one stack (20) of each item by the following: 2 for rugged leather, 1.6 for dense stone, and for the widgets, .9 * Thorium Bars + .3 * Runecloth.
Therefore, let's say that on your server, thorium bars cost 3g a stack, runecloth 1g, rugged leather 2g and dense stone 2g.
That means each turn in costs 3g for thorium, 4g for leather, and 3.2g for stone. (for a total of 180g for 1200)
Now you usually will end up using a combination, depending on what is on the AH at any given time, or your own farming skills, but this is a handy tool for those who plan on buying a majority of it.

There's absolutely no way this necklace is worth the tickets.

Rugged Armor Kits:
2400 Rugged Leather= 480 Rugged Armor Kits= 1200 Tickets
(Made by Leatherworking)

Thorium Widget's:
1080 Thorium Bar's AND 360 Runecloth= 360 Thorium Widget's =
1200 Ticket's
(Made by Engineer's)

Dense Grinding Stone:
1920 Dense Stone = 480 Dense Grinding Stone = 1200 Ticket's
(Made by Blacksmith's)

These are just the main things I am going to turn in, I didn't want to waste my doing the math for all the other ones. These are the correct Number's, So there is no reason to second guess it.

it's because of people ^&*!@ing about the necklaces being epics that didnt have the right trade skills to get mass tickets that made Blizz nerf them... now, after more *!@#$ing in the patch, they will become epic again, and people are STILL ^&*!@ing... "my epic armor set looks dumb... I can't find stuff to farm for tickets" whine whine whine whine whine... sigh

To save yourself on the higher level hand-ins, collect 130 (13 stacks) of Vibrant Plumes, which will get you from neutral to friendly these are easy to farm in an afternoon from harpies. Then start handing in the top gear.

26 handins of 5 plumes gets you = 26 x 12 tickets = 312 tickets

this leaves 888 tickets to get with your high lvl items, meaning 356 items (in the case of rugged armor kits) to collect instead of 480.

btw, excess stacks of plumes sell for 1g75 on Moonglade EU outside of Fayre dates.

Does anyone, like me, kinda miss a quest along the lines of the coldain shawl? I realize that with WoW, it would have to focus on one individual tradeskill, or two. But it could be something that uses a majority if not all of the components of your craft. Start with light leather, work your way up to uber stuff.. But must get a reward worthy of all that work.

Did a little math and it turned out I need 2400 rugged leather to get the necklace.

That's one weeks farming which I can live with. It's also the best non-epic necklace when it comes to agility and now they are making it epic.

Cant wait )

Tickets are recovered by turning in several player crafted items. However you must actually do this profession yourself (ie to turn in thorium widgets, you must be an engineer). Be warned it took me around 1000 thorium bars and a little over 300 Runecloth to get my 1200 tickets! Well happy hunting those of you with much patience, I won't wear the necklace much to be honest but it was quite a feeling of accomplismnet =) good luck

Is it still worth grinding for this with TBC coming in a month ? Will there be green drops in BC that are better than this epic ? Any idea if I should start grinding or just wait for TBC drops ?

Gotta a few question about this quest if anyone wouldn't mind answering.

What level am I able to do the 1,200 ticket turn in (Not use it, that's pretty obvious = P)? Do I need a certain faction level to do it?...and if I do, will the 60 Thorium Widget turn-ins needed for 1,200 tickets get me to the appropiate faction level?

Planning to farm for all the Thorium and Runecloth on my main which is a miner, send that to a friend to have him make the Thorium Widgets, which in turn I'll send to my alt which is going to take up Engineering just long enough to turn in.

[EDIT] You don't need to be lvl60 to get the Glowing Scorpid Blood and More Glowing Scorpid Blood quests and you don't need any specific faction nor tradeskill lvl to turn in the tickets. 6 thorium widgets = 20 tickets. 1 thorium widget = 3 thorium bars, 20 thorium bars = 4-5 in AH (@Stormrage EU). Which means, if u are engineer, it's freaking expensive to get 1200 tickets and it takes ages to farm all that thorium, besides u need runecloth too to craft the bars. I farmed Glowing Scorpid Blood, 20% droprate, 3 hours/day, 20 blood/hour. Did this for 10 days, easiest way to farm this amulet. And I got loads of greens and scorpid fangs, some thorium too. Since I'm engineer, I turned in widgets too. Made around 15g/hour. Go farm in Silithius, it's worth it!

BE VERY CAREFUL about the order in which u turn in your things for tickets. once u are friendly, there are way fewer things that you can turn in, so make sure to turn in the lowbie items early on. i got mine yesterday and i am very happy :)
