Crawler Mucus (8)

Description

Although my eyes fail me, I still can see clearly enough. More often I must rely on my alchemical skills to aid me in magics that once came easily. But I refuse to take on an apprentice--no troll or orc worthy enough has ever come forward.

Are you worthy? Yes, of course you are... of course you think you are.

I need a few things. Will you get them for me?

I need intact makrura eyes, and vials of crawler mucus. You can find them on any makrura or crawler in Durotar. We shall speak again soon.

61,52 Bestarea, look around for more stuff, they are all cramed together so be careful

Those that feel that Makruras are a rare spawn and hard to find, don't bother with swimming around between Senjin and the islands. Instead head over to the ship wreaks by Razor Hills. There are good spawns of them there and I got all 4 eyes within 20 mins.

This is a fairly easy quest but can take a bit.

You'll need to kill the tiny crabs on the very nearby beach to the southeast.&nbsp You can search this beach all the way from the mountains to the north to just south of the fishing trainer.&nbsp Also, a little ways into the water, are red Makrura thingies.&nbsp You don't need to kill as many of those.&nbsp They spawn less rarely, too, and usually can't be seen from land, so wade or swim in the shallows.

You can go as far as Echo Isles if you want, but there's no need to do so for this quest, just continue going up and down the coast until you've collected enough.&nbsp ^_^

Return to the guy back in the Troll village and that's it!

I've done this quest a few times, make sure to get the other quest which involves getting Durotar tiger hides.

Then go out to the beach and start killing the tiny crabs (which give you mucus) and the makuta (which give you eyes, duh). Keep moving towards the islands, and once you hit the big one, you'll run into the tigers. The drop rate is really low for all of the things you'll need, but if you focus on doing them at once, it'll save you some time.

It's actually better to do this question on the east shore by Tiragarde Keep. Even on mature servers, it seems like people are still fighting over the kills just south of Sen'jin Village.

Not to mention you can bust out the Gnomish Toolboxes as well.

I found a decent amount of both mobs in the water around 61, 69.

Makrura are Lobster-men type mobs and the crawlers are crabs.

This is an intro quest to give you an idea of what's in store for you, as you progress in the game:

#1 - it teaches you to hunt mobs which have a fairly low spawn rate (the makrura spawn slowly and in lesser quantities than the crawlers)

#2 - it teaches you that not every mob will drop the quest item(s)

All the quest you have prior to this, out of the Valley of Trials, are 100% drop and fast multiple spawns. Now you'll know what the future holds for you, as you tear your hair out on that 25th mob which is still not dropping the last quest item.

The Surf Crawlers drop the Crawler Mucus, they can be found along the shore of Sen'jin Village and Tiragarde Keep. The Makrura drop the Intact Makrura Eye, they can be found off the shore in the water by either Sen'jin Village or Tiragarde Keep. They are around 61,71 and 62, 53.

A good location for these guys is the shipwreck just east of Tiragarde Keep. Plenty of crabs for everyone.

The eyes and mucus are not all that common. Appear to be one drop every 3-4 mobs. The problem being that they are not tightly grouped. You will spend 30 minutes or more killing for this quest. It's not a bad quest to do as a supplementary quest to others you are doing in the area.

In the time you do this quest, you could have done Vanquish the Betrayers, Admiral's Orders and From the Wreckage.

This quest by itself is not very impressive. If you pick up Zalazane, Minshina's Skull, Practical Prey, Solvent spirit and Break a few eggs altogether, then it makes these individually lackluster quests worthwhile.

The mucaus pretty easy and good farming for XP as drop rate is amazing but if all drop rates were good then would be hard to level up... with the eyes i have done this few times and i never get drops from level 6 that might just be my luck but i got 100% drop rate from the level 7 in the middle of the group of islands which as someone said earlier its a good way to get the tiger hides quest done at the same time as thats pretty much in the same area...

Good Luck

The drop rate for the makrura eyes was fairly good but the drops for the crawler mucus was terrible. Also there was 3 other guys on the same quest in the same area and we were just fighting over them.My advise would be to run up the beach towards the human castle thing...tiragarde keep i think. There are plenty of crawlers up there.

It can be noted that this is, at least to my knowledge (which is, i am loathe to admit, somewhat more expansive regarding Alliance side quests), the only quest in the entire game that involves the Makrura.

This wouldn't have been so bad, in my opinion, if it involved an interesting story, or any sort of expansion on what little we already know about these mysterious lobstermen. Sadly, the only thing we're handed here is something along the lines of: "Go get their eyes. I need them."

Disappointing, really.

This is all you have to do :

Go south of where you got the quest, towards the beast. Just run around killing the crawlers and the Makrura guys. The drop rate is fairly good. Trust me, do this quest and this reward will last you until level 60. You will be using it a lot in pvp, and pve, good for those "oh crap" situations.

The crawlers are non-aggressive (yellow).
The makrura are aggressive (red).

Both mobs run away when down to the last health.

Both the Makrura and the Crawlers are around 61.43 . The crawlers are both closer to shore and out in the water the makruras are only out in the water and all along the coast.

The drop rate of both the items are decent, the numerous amount of players that are usually around make this quest difficult. Also, Makurura's are very little on the coast of Senjinn Village. Go to the ship wrecks to find more of them. You can also do From the Wreckage... while you are there to.
