Centipaar Insect Parts (5)

Description

All right now, these reports about the bugs... what we know is that they are draining the water pools that used to be where the Noxious Lair is. What we DON'T know is, well, everything else.

Let's figure out who our enemy is first! I want you to head into the Noxious Lair and get some parts off of those critters. Get five from the Centipaar there and bring them to Alchemist Pestlezugg for him to dink with. With him on the case, we'll figure out what they are!

to find these Bugs, you go south of the pond where you finished the first part of the quest to the Noxious Lair (36,40 to 32,51 ish)

any of these bugs drops the carapace but it is not 100% drop chance.
i don't exactly remember, but i think the bugs lvls are 45 to 50.

I did this quest with my lvl 45 warrior last night - it is doable but you have to be careful. The bugs are lvl 47-50 and although the drop rate is high, it is not 100%. I was getting one drop out of three kills. I was killing lvl 47-48 bugs.

A word of caution:

The lvl 50 bug has a VERY small minion. You can mistake it for one of the critters Blizzard put in the game - it is not. Around the lvl 50 bug, look to the ground. It is very small. You might not even be able to click on it that easily, but it is a minion. Their walkpaths are not that similar either. Those two bugs might be far apart from each other. Do not aggro it since it will bring the big one running.

This quest is a bit of a PIA with the drop rate and pesky horde (I'm on Sargeras).

Killed flying mobs up to level 49 with my 45 war with % to crit gear (cragfist armor, rockpounder, some others). The 49s tested me but besides them I never went below 50% on HP, and thats only because my rockpounder is so slow. I worked on the outside of the crater.

Anyway, drop rate is pretty miserable overall, what I notice even more is that it is difficult to get ANYTHING to drop from these guys. Many times I came up empty on drops.

Not sure about the crawlers - I did kill one and got 1 part from it. The rest from flying insects. The only reason I would go for crawlers is because one of them (I forget which) runs back for help. The rest do not.

Go in with rest XP, though, and its excellent grinding material. Overall I got about 12k XP between the quest that starts this one, the mobs, and this ending quest (including rest XP).

Unless your level 50, going in the middle is, to me, a suicide mission. The are pretty tightly packed in there. I suggest starting at the ramp as a camp and pulling back there, then working out from that.

This quest turns yellow really early, if you want to do it as early as you can then the best place is probably the south side of the nest as there are loads of 47-48 centipaar wasps there (the lowest level centipaar). As stated drop rate is fairly ugly so you might be there for a while.

Coords: 36,48 to the West
Drop rate is about 40% from any of the insects there although its better to kill the flying ones as the crawling ones spawn little critters to help them.

You dont need to go to the middle theres enough to kill around the edge.

Did it in 10 mins np.

you guys dont need to spam a million times the drop rate is low and ur aggravated, i read the first 2 posts and understood it, the next 10000 million is just a waste. even if the drop rate is low it forces u to grind, so low drop rate is a good thing. thanks for the coords guys, and happy hunting!

This quest can be done at the Noxious Lair (37,36). The drop rate isn't that bad, about 1 in 2, I got all 5 Centipaar Insect Parts in 12 kills.

You definitely should watch out for those Silithid Swarms especially if you have no AOE capabilities. I tend to keep away from the Centipaars with a Swarm near them.

Location is accurate
Drop rate is around 40%
Lvl 48 hunter solod no problems - however be carefull when fighting the lvl 50 swarmers as hundreds of smaller ones come out to fight as well making it imposible for caster but they are one hit kills.

The Noxious Lair is located around 37,39. The quest items drop from all of the insects around the Noxious lair, and have a drop rate of around 20%. This quest is even doable around level 46-47, if you know what to do.

You'll find a variety of mobs around there, including:
- Centipaar Swarmer
- Centipaar Wasp
- Centipaar Sandreaver
- Centipaar Worker
- Centipaar Stinger

The Sandreaver and the Wasp are just easy fights, without any adds.
However, the Swarmer calls in ads, which also damage you, and if you're a caster will prevent you from casting. If you can, lay down an AOE every 5 or 10 seconds to wipe all these little mobs. They have around 5 HP, and should be oneshotted with one AOE hit. I'm a hunter myself, and I used Volley to get rid of all the insects in one shot. Also Multi Shot works. For Paladins, try to use Consecration, Mages use Arcane Explosion. Any class that can't do AOE shouldn't try to engage these mobs around level 45-47, but wait untill level 49-50 or so.

However, they can do the other mobs found around the area.
Done this quest with a warlock, hunter, paladin, mage and a rogue myself now, and I've only had trouble with the rogue around level 46, for the other classes it was easy.

I solo'd this as a 46 hunter, but it wasn't very much fun. The drop rate sucks.

Stay away from the non-flying insects, especially the Swarmers, which will summon about a million tiny guards that'll interrupt you like crazy. The drop rate also seems to be even worse for the crawling ones as opposed to the flying ones, so there's no reason to touch them.

But the worst part? Just *being* there. If hanging around a ton of gigantic, *twitching* disembodied insect legs doesn't sound like your idea of a good time, skip this quest. It made my skin crawl. :P

Coordinates are 35,46ish. You can't miss it.
For you who doesn't use coordinates - it's straight southwest of Gadgetzan, west of Abyssal Sands.
I had a 100% droprate from the Centipaar Stingers and the Centipaar Swarmers, 33% from the Centipaar Wasps. Definately not a tough quest for a level 47.

Looking at the drop rate, it looks like the kinds of bugs that fly and look like wasps have 50%, the crawling bugs have much lower rates. So look for flying bugs.

I've done this quest twice (with two different characters) and have concluded it's completely random.&nbsp My first 45+ warrior was here for maybe an hour and had to go into the center in frustration to get the 5 parts.&nbsp My 47 hunter stayed on the outside, killed mostly wasps and had five parts in 12 kills.&nbsp BTW -- the first worker and swarmer did not drop a part, the wasps dropped all of mine.&nbsp See ... no way of telling.

ok well it's cordinates is 36,46 and it very easy. It took me not even 10 minutes to complete it. The longest part was actually getting to the site.

If you kill the bugs that crawl rather than fly you seem to get the parts faster.

Althoght this quest is soloable even at around lv47, the quest level is wrong. Doubtlessly it should be a level 50 quest. You have to kill many lv47-50 bugs, depends on your luck. And these bugs are tough, have many adds, wide-area patrols, long-term poison, and they chase you a very long way (guess becuase of their wide range patrol). You may want to skip this quest because it is not worth doing and you may have to spend a long time killing if you have bad luck. And the drops are poor. I have killed more than 100 of them with multiple alts but didn't get a single uncommon drop, nor any valuable item.

Ok, so the drop rate seems to be adequate. As a 46 Mage, however, I'm having to tuck tail, run, and go get my armor repaired after getting killed twice now. I've NEVER had to pay a gold to get repairs, either. One more trip oughtta complete this.

Easily solo'ed as a level 45 arms warrior, got all 5 pieces in 15-20 kills. Nice and quick, just how I like it. 36,46 is where most of the 47-48's are, so go there if you're a bit lower level like I was.
