Well it was driving me nuts. I found the Timbermaw shamans but I couldn't pickpocket or attack them. It seemed like a bug so I put in a help request.

I had been working on my Timbermaw reputation, and was currently unfriendly, 1/3 towards being neutral.

The GM wouldn't tell me anything other than that "they need to be hostile to pickpocket".

That was less than helpful and I had given up on doing the quest.

Later I was playing around on the reputation page, and found that I got a new dialog if I actually clicked on the reputation, and in that dialog there was a checkbox for "At War". I went back and tried checking that, and lo and behold, I could pickpocket the shamans and got the bag on the 1st try. I didn't even lose any reputation, and I unchecked it right after I got the bag.

You'd think the GM could have told me something about the UI. Anyway I hope this helps someone else in the same situation.

I had a hard time p/p, I got to close and had to kill em, at 50,25 I had no luck, moved to 44.25 and got it the first try. Turned in at 28.50 and bam... automatic, just go with the flow.

The mob you need to kill is Timbermaw Shamans. They are located primarily in the northwestern area of Azshara.

If you are unfriendly or higher: Open up your reputation screen. Scroll down to the Timbermaw. Select "At War".

BE CAREFUL: In almost all cases you don't want to kill these guys. These are the same guys you need unfriendly or better rep to pass into Winterspring. Also, reputation rewards from their quartermaster are pretty decent (especially the agility enchants which lower level twinks just adore).

Chances are you'll regret going on killing spree. An accidental kill may land you with 10 extra deadwood's to kill.

Make Your Life Easier (in Azshara, Period.): Head on over to southern Felwood first and complete the initial Timbermaw reptuation quests. Especially Timbermaw Ally from Grazle.

This will get you to Unfriendly Reputation with the Timbermaw. So then all you'll have to do in Azshara is ride/walk through camps looking for Shamans (instead of having to skirt around or slowly stealth through them). At Unfriendly EVEN with "AT WAR" checked in reputation they won't attack you.

Easy Money/Lockboxes: Another advantage of achieving unfriendly is easy money. Nothing spectacular, but with them unfriendly you can go unabated through their camps pick pocketing. Getting Sturdy Lockboxes and easily a couple of silver. If you're looking for money without the kills this is kind of nifty.

The NPC you want to teleport you up near Xylem's area is Sanath Lim-Yo at 28, 50. This is just east of Valormok, the Horde outpost in Azshara. As mentioned previously, he has the blue ? over his head. Link below.

I also got it first try from the Shaman at 38,32

Just to let you know that this guy doesn't show up on the map as a yellow dot. he is in the top west side just out side of the ruins of Eldarath next to the mountain.

I got the bag on the first Shaman I looted...and the NE guy that teleports you is just east of the Horde camp with a Flight Master, which is just north of Eldarath...he has a blue question mark above his head...hope that helps a bit...

Ok....ride down the road towards the Ruins of Eld'aroth. When you get to the ruins, turn left and begin to hug the mountains, still heading northwest. Eventually you will run into Timbermaws. Ignore them. Eventually you will "discover" Timbermaw Hold. It will put a little building on your map. Go to this building, which is the gate to Timbermaw Hold. In front are standing the Shaman, two Denwatchers and a gatekeeper. Stealth around to the Shaman, pick his pocket and get the bag...stealth away, get on your horse and ride off into the sunset....

i did quest with them before a little so they didnt attack me, then just i put it "At war" and pickpocked, got on my 2nd mob piece of cake!

all u need to do is to find the shamans they are on left side of azshara and up, they are also in bearform.&nbsp when u got the bag u go to between the place with all the seamonster and mountains the small path thinkit's caleld bear's head. if u see on a podeum a blood elf with a blue question mark talk to her and u'lll be teleportet and u can walk to a tower when ur up there and there he is

One thing to note is that this quest does not apply to a SPECIFIC shaman, but ANY shaman in general. If it's a "Timbermaw Shaman" it may have it. However, be forewarned that if someone has come through the area previously, and picked the shaman's pocket, and it has not been killed, it won't have anything (though it refills its pockets in about five minutes.)

Be also aware, that the other types of timbermaw (possibly) take the same spawn spots as the shamans do. So you'll most likely have to kill off a lot of them, so that more shamans can appear, otherwise you may end up with all of the spawns used up by the other timbermaw types and no shamans whatsoever.

Almost directly east of the horde outpost of Valormok is an npc standing near a teleporter. Speak with the npc, and he'll teleport you up to the top of the cliffs. To get back down, speak with the npc next to you where you appeared. Just remember, your REALLY high up on the cliffs now. Safe fall won't save you. :)

Wow. Got it off the first pocket I picked. :D :D Easy quest, just do what the others have said. Turn At War with the timbermaw on(unless you already are at war) and then pick pocket the shamen.

You don't need any sort of reputation with these guys, just be sure to mark that you're "At War" with them in the rep. tab so this allows you to Pickpocket them. The Shamans in Ursolan seemed to work more frequently for this, so I would suggest trying them. Don't kill them if you can help it, unless you don't care about Timbermaw rep. (which most people don't post-BC). Still more profitable to pickpocket them. :) Hope this helps...

there was a rare behind the shaman so i killed it and the 2 denwatchers and the shaman at the "gate".
shouldnt have tho -200 timbermaw rep oops

I don't have coordinates with my game, so where do I find the Timbermaw Hold in Azshara?

I got my at the first try, I found a shaman with two other "guards" at 38.33 by a big stone gate along the mountainwall did only pick pocket .. piece of strawberry cake :)

To find the guy you have to turn the bag in to, just follow the nothermountaline west from from the timbermaw hold. You should at some point meet an elf-guy with a blue questionmark over his head. Speak to him, press "complete quest", and he will teleport you. Now you just have to follow the road to the tower, and then you're there.

HOW DO YOU GET TO THE GUY TO TURN THE QUEST IN AND DON'T GIVE LOC NOT EVERYBODY USES COSMO

The shaman I found were at cosmos 43,18. Got the bag off 4th pickpocket. not as bad as others made it seem.... now to find the archmage.

I need to know what the location is to where you turn in the quest at.

I've looked and looked for the NPC to turn it in but i cant find it ive died like 3 times trying to find it.

IF SOMEONE COULD GIVE ME THE LOCATION THE I'D BE SO HAPPY

I picked 2 SHAMMIES and got it....i was picking at 44,25

I had no prob getting the bag thnx to the help of this site. but now I cannot find where to turn in the quest

i can't pickpocket or attack thse guys?

To get to the archamge, you need to talk to an elf at Coords 28,50.

Many have asked now, so I thought this would help.

I dont really care about my rep with them but i tried killing them like 30 times and no bag,then i pickpocket for awhile and still no bag,how long do you have to wait before u can pickpocket again cuz first time i get cash then second,third,fourth ect. i get nothing.

The Shaman at the Timbermaw hold entrance is not the only Shaman. Look in Ursolan, just to the west at 48,30 is a nice little Timbermaw camp with many Shamans.

This is where I found my Azure bag after wasting 30 min at the Timbermaw hold entrance. Pickpocketed the shaman there a good 4/5 times with no luck.

I found the archmage at 27,51
