Ok, got to exalted with Timbermaw. The trinket sucks guys. Sorry but it does. You get a weak little bear that lasts about 30 seconds with a 10 minute cooldown. It won't choose to always help you. In fact It might decide to just stand there the whole fight. But anyway...

This post, is to point out something FAR FAR more fun than the Furbolg trinket. This post is for: The Demon Summoning Torch

In order to finish this quest, one of the furbolgs will hand you a torch that you have to place at the mouth of High Chief Winterfalls cave.

It summons a really badass demon called Xandivious, who will lay a lot of smackdown upon anyone in his spawn aggro range. He also has a pretty nasty AOE that constantly surrounds him that will take off your stealth, and can kill you if you stand around long enough.

It took a Druid tank, a rogue dps'r, and a Shammy in my group to take him down. So it can be done with 3 people.

That is also not the point of this post, however...

The point is, that the torch can be used OVER and OVER and OVER again.(I think the cooldown is also 10 minutes - at least it was at the time of this post) Thats right... Its a fun filled farmer PWNing tool.

Watch and laugh as Gold farmers, run into the area looking for thorium. Spawn Xandivious while they are AFK in the center of the village, and laugh as they promptly get their as& handed to them.

Chuckle as they gather a group to defeat the mighty Xandivious, and try restore peace and harmony to their daily farming lives.

Cheer with them as they defeat the vile creature. Then sneek back up to the cave entrance and respawn him 3 seconds later while they are taking victory screenshots over his corpse, and laugh while they all get owned again.

This is a great Farmer combat tool if you are interested in getting thorium and runecloth in the area. True, your new pet demon is only localized to one spot. But it WILL cut down on the overfarming in the area. People don't like to get owned by that thing and won't stick around long, leaving you with free run of the area. There are safe paths around him, once you get used to where he "roams". Most people won't stay around long enough to figure that out, though.

When you finally tire of him, turn him in for your new lame furbolg reward,&nbsp who pales in comparison to a localized demon pet. ^_^

I did this quest the other day. You will recieve the quest from Gore One Eye in the crossroad section of Timbermaw Hold. He will send you to Winterspring where you will have to go to the Wintermaw village to the east of Everlook. You will have to go to the top of the path where the Chief usually is. Clear the area of Wintermaw, especially in the lower section so you can have room to fight with out interference. You will have to place the torch in the cave entrance, and the demon will spawn down the hill from where you are standing. He is a 62 Elite, and can see through stealth and emits a poison cloud that does 200-300 damage. He is nearly impossible to solo mostly because his range attack will get you over time. He can be stunned and rooted and has alot of hitpoints. Did this with 2 rouges, 1 stunned and the other did most of the damage and switched agro so we could utilize evasion. Good news is anyone can loot him once he is dead because he drops a chest similar to Araj that is lootable by everyone on the quest, whether they are in the group or not.

Ok, so some good news..

I *also* have the Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire, which summons a skeleton to fight for you for 1 minute - way more useful, right?&nbsp I just summoned my Timbermaw, and sure enough, it has a 10 min. cooldown.&nbsp I expected it to have a shared cooldown with my skelly, but it only put a 30 *second* cooldown on the skelly, meaning I've got TWO pets to pull out in emergencies when soloing, for PvP, etc. - being able to use both is quite useful.

Completing this quest gives Timbermaw Hold reputation. I'm not sure what the exact amount is, but it's enough to take you to 999/1000 exalted.

Pre patch, you had to kill about 12000 to get exalted.&nbsp I did it then so I don't know what it would take now.

The reward from this quest is 10k experience, 400 rep for all 4 of your major factions, and the epic trinket Defender of the Timbermaw.

i want to mention that the torch requires quite specific placement in the cave in order to work. turns out that you have to activate it just in the mouth... if you go in too deep, it will give you an error.

this was the second time doing it (helped a friend a few weeks ago), and this time, the demon took his sweet time coming up the hill to attack us... it was near 20 seconds and i was beginning to wonder if the quest was bugged.

anyway, it all worked out. can't wait to use this baby in pvp.

killed him as a 60 mage with help of a brilliant 59 warlock.. no potions, both healthstones.. (i had a 100 hp left, warlock died twice in the fight and did most of the damage while i was trying to kite him to everlook which didn't work with no potions, got about three quarters of the way..)

damn this lock was good!

Xandivious has about 20000 hit points. He can melee for around 600 on cloth, and he likes to do Shadow Word: Pain + Curse of Weakness and is constantly doing a "Vile Rot" area attack that hits for 150-200 Nature damage. When he goes down, there's a blast wave that does some fire damage, I didn't check to see how much probably about a thousand unresisted. But basically he's a lightweight depending on your class and gear. We happened to do it with 3, and had some excess nature protection potions from a previous AQ run, so we used those and it was very easy.

I just solo'd the demon (lvl 62 elite) as a lvl 60 warlock in nemesis and felheart (though it did take popping a SS).&nbsp Watch out because he pops at the entrance to the cave, so you want to clear the area around the ramp first, plant the torch, then run down a bit to get ready for his spawn.&nbsp As a lock, i pretty much fear kited it and sacced my VW for a shield.
As far as the reward goes, yea it's probably not worth it. but you still get to be one of the very few people to have one, and extra pets are fun.

Someone spawned this guy on our realm recently, and didn't kill him. Now, Xandivious sits there in the furbolg village east of Everlook and lays waste to everyone. We had a group of 7 in there farming rep the other night. Luckily a 60 warrior was there and joined us to tank this guy. Everyone else was 53/54. Xandivious wiped us multiple times before we had help from the warrior. I suppose a group of 5 level 60s could take him fine.

Once we killed him, because we were not the people on the quest he re-spawned in a few minutes. Killing a couple more of us as we left the area and went back to northern Felwood.

I guess it would be pretty good, though I don't know how easy it would be to get this trinket at level 49. The killing and looting of something like 2500 level 47+ mobs needed to get to Exalted rep would need to be started really early.

Probably most practical with two accounts with your very low level guy following your main so you can grab the rep when you'd find it difficult to kill the Furbolgs on your own.

personally i wouldn't consider 400 rep to be a lot but then again it is more than 5. . . lol. i get 5 rep for every Deadwood thing i kill so 400 rep with this particular thing would be a lot. it is much better than the Bronze Dragonflight thing tho.
u have to kill thousands upon thousands of them damn bugs to get to neutral!

OK Killed him with 3 others easily. Two 50s and two 60s total. Remember to grab the essence then summon him again just to piss off everyone in the area grinding then go get your trinket then get the quest to talk to the king.

He does nature damage so a nature protection potion might help. Standard potion, not the greater one.

So, there i am, in the middle of the furball camp thingy, like i usually am every day and have been for the last 1.5 week, farming for my wintersaber mount.
And so, for the first time i see this bigass demon roaming around killin some lowbie hunter. So what do i do? Kill him. All this talk about 3man droodtanks is bullcrap, he is easeymode, for a mage anyways =)
And about the trinket, its fairly usefull when in combat, the furgball dude puts up a rejuv on you, and together with the furgball offhand thingy you can surely get 1500+ hp from pressing 2 buttons. Pretty nice for a non healing class!

I did this a few weeks ago on my Warlock, easily solo'd.

Guide:
1. Kill the Cheif and his friends.
2. Place the torch in the cave.
3. Cast Curse of Shadows on Xandivious.
4. Enslave Xandivious.
5. Run to Winterspring.
6. Break enslave, tag Xandivious, and run into town.
7. Let the guards do their work, and soon he'll be dead.
8. Collect Essence.

Alternatively, I've also done it this way with a Warlock.
Just use Corruption and Curse of Exhaustion and kite him until he dies, it takes a little longer and is more risky, but it does work quite well in the end.

I hit exalted with the Timbermaws today, and I got this quest from One Eye Gorn in the hold. I did this quest with 5 level 60s with fairly good equips (MC/BWL gear), and the tank was kept alive with Renew, so it was kind of easy ^^

Anyhow, I got this in a reward: Defender of the Timbermaw that, I was told to go to IF with a proposal of peace with the Alliance, which I completed, and the King yelled somehitng about I have done great to the alliance, and brought a new ally, etc. Kind of embaressing imo, everyone in IF heard it (Yell backs with grats, wtf, omg, etc) ^^
