Silithid Egg (12)
Digging Claw
Provided Item:
Digging Claw

Description

Hey, <name>. I been sent to the Crossroads to watch over the land and take note of its happenings for my masters in Orgrimmar.

One object of my studies are the insect-like creatures found to the south in the Field of Giants. We know little of the creatures, so I be makin' it a point to discover more. They seem to have intelligence to them, more so than any normal animal.

Take this digging claw and collect some of the creatures' eggs from their mounds, but be careful: if alerted, they will attack you.

First of all, the location of this quest, is around 45, 72. Wich lies to the west, south of Camp Taraujo, but not as far as the first road to the east.

This is a fairly easy quest to do, but be wary of the Silithid Swarmers with the little minions around them. They seem to be patrolling the area, and they can be a bit of a pain to kill. Their minions are multiplying rather fast, and sometimes the Silithid Swarmer releases an egg, which results in another level 20 Silithid Grub, which does a decent amount of damage.

Also, the eggs are not gathered by killing mobs, but rather by collecting them from the special mounds. The ones who are green on the top. )

Have a nice egg collecting!

I did this as a 19th level hunter with croc pet. I only focused on the first hatching circle and waited for the eggs to respawn. I got 1-3 eggs per attempt and only spawned a low level defender one time.

To pass the time between spawns I killed the stormsnouts and various other mobs.

Little tip to make this easier, especially for casters.

One of the blood shard buffs that you can get from the dude in the cage at Camp T is like the druid's thorns, it does damage when you get attacked. Useful when a bunch of the little bugs spawn and you can't get a damn cast off.

I found a trick to do this quest if you're a warlock.

I got like 6 soulstones ready and used [Yellow]sacrifice[/Yellow]! I was untouchable while i got the eggs then I had enough shield to run out of aggro range: rinse and repeat for each egg sac thing. Done in 5 min and got a nice robe to boot.

If your having trouble with those evil swarmers.. heres a tip.. Get a Druid with thorns *gasp* Every time a swarm spawn hits you.. it'll die.. they have less then 6hp each made doing this a breeze

a suggestion:

get the buff from the quillboar in the cage in the camp taurajo (costs some blood shards) gives thorn effect. makes this alot easier. but it doesnt last forever, so hurry up )

You will need some AOE or at least damage shield against Silithid Swarmers. I met one today who released like 10 minions... preatty painfull i must say.

P.S.
Dont go AFK on the road between Silithid nests... Allliance NPCs patrols there... I learned that hard way...

What a pain in the ass this quest was. Easy kills but the spawn rates have increased since beta, in my opinion. Anyhow, you can collect the eggs anywhere from 1-3 per hit. The eggs can be also collected from either side of the path, the west and or the east side.

My result:
You gain 1750 experience.
Your reputation with Darkspear Trolls has increased.

First of all the location is 45,75 due SOUTH of Camp Taraujo not west...SOUTH... just off the road (LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF ROAD) after you get to the Field of Giants you will see several area's that look a termite or fire ant colony.. several in the area... you cllik on the ones with the green top GOOD LUCK to you. DO be careful as you fight the silithid creepers they will lay eggs that have grubs move away as they lay them best strat that I know if you trying this Q solo.

Best advice I can give you is to do as a group or be level 23 or higher 0)

Very easy for a Pally. Just turn on your Aura of Retribution and the Silithid Swarmers won't be a problem.

If there is a druid nearby, ask them for thorns. The thorns kill the mini-bugs after 1 hit.

For you lore fans, this is the first time you encounter the Silithid, the infamous bugs that inhabit many regions in Kalimdor and who range in level from the level 20ish bugs seen here all the way up to the 60 elites in Ahn'Qiraj.

If you're a mage, you can blink away from the eggs right after looting it, and completely avoid encountering the Silithid Protectors. Just be sure to blink back in the direction that you cleared mobs. Saves time and mana :)

As a lvl 25 druid, I wasn't sure whether this was an easy solo, but I did it with no problem at all.&nbsp Seems the biggest problem casters have is with the smaller bugs interrupting their spells, but the solution is simple.&nbsp B4 you leave to do this quest, find a druid to buff you with "thorns".&nbsp As soon as one of the smaller bugs touch you, they instantly die causing you no damage or interruption.&nbsp Simply plan your strategy around attracting a single mob, and you'll do this easily.
Good luck!
BTW, my toon is Beefcake (on the Doomhammer server aka Downhammer).&nbsp PST me for the buff if I am close.

When you arrive here be sure to check around for the Silithid Harvester (http://classicdb.ch/?npc=3253) a lvl 24 mob easy kill and he drops Harvester's Head (http://classicdb.ch/?item=5138) which starts The Harvester (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=897) a 2400 XP worn quest . Good Luck !

Head south on the path from Crossroads, past Camp Taurajo and take a right at 46,70 (first inlet of the mountains).

There should be at least one egg near each group of rocks.

warrior lvl 22 soloed this very easily. as one of the first posts mentions get the blood shard thorn buff from the imprisoned guy in taurajo after you complete the quest he gives you. the buff will take care of all the pesky little bugs that spawn from the swarmer mobs.the buff name is "razorhide"

Died the first time I went in.

There are usually 3-5 silithids you need to kill around the hills/mounds with the eggs.&nbsp If you don't kill all of them you'll get a level 22 swarmer (who seems to sense you're reducing the population near the hill and heads straight for it) as an add and that is not good.&nbsp Hit the tab key to target kill the little grub that always hangs out on the back of the hill.&nbsp You often get 1-2 level 19-20 guardians that pop out when you grab the eggs so I repeat...make sure you've killed everything on the surface around the hill before you go in.&nbsp That makes things much easier.&nbsp These things can stun you, but they usually leave you alone if you can run all the way back to the road.

I just spent my time switching between the two hills closest to the road.&nbsp By the time I'd cleared one hill, the eggs had respawned on the other. Thorns as a druid worked on the swarmers - the bugs that pop off have like 10 HP.

WTF are you all talking about. I JUST did this quest, took like 3 minutes + travel time. I am a level 22 Shaman, with Crap gear. Walked in, got the eggs, killed the 1 or 2 things around each hive.

Solo'd as a 19 mage. I picked two or three mobs around each mound, steal the eggs and outrun the protector that spawns. Not difficult at all. Easy 100 rep for the trolls.

Soloed this as a level 18 Hunter. Pretty tough, and resulted in multiple pet deaths, but at least it's over with.

Avoid the Swarmers, and take out all other mobs that block your path to the eggs, make sure your pet is on defensive!

As soon as you start harvesting, you'll be aggroed. Let the pet take the attack, and continue to harvest, then leg it as fast as you can back to the road probably with around four angry critters on your tail..as by that time you'll likely have attracted the attention of an add or two. You'll likely lose your pet, but it's no big deal.

Rinse and repeat.

I did this quest as lvl 19 warlock, took my time and picked out one creature at a time, while my VW tanked i'd kill those little bugs if they came and made sure to kill the eggs they lay. If i had enough Soulstones I did Darkdashings tip and sacrificed my vw and would run in and grab an egg nest. Didn't take very long .. hour at most i think.

It appears it can be solo'd okay (lvl 22 druid).
But, attack 1 creeper, an egg gets layed, the grub starts attacking as well, then along comes another creeper joins the fight, along with a swarm - no chance to run by then without inevitably dying.

Yet another absurd quest from blizzard that you have to group to complete or waste hours soloing.

yawn.

My 22 mage died three or four times soloing this one. Arcane explosions were the best way to get rid of the little swarms, but when more than two mobs came at me I had to run back to the road (and didn't always make it). Learned a little late to kill the eggs dropped by the slitherers (I think it was them) before they hatched into grubs.

I was also confused by the grubs inside the mounds. I have an add-on that gives me a health bar for any mob in the area, so I'd see these health bars, but the critters were inside of the non-egg mounds and could not attack me.

It took about an hour and was worth 1750 exp.
