Nefarius's Corruption

Slay Nefarian and recover the Red Scepter Shard. Return the Red Scepter Shard to Anachronos at the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. You have 5 hours to complete this task.

Description

Champion, is it you? A thousand years it has been since I was entrusted the shard and it is at my darkest hour that one should rise to relieve me of it... But what would tragedy be without cruelty?

Ne... Nefarius now holds the scepter shard.

Time is of the essence. Nefarius plans to destroy the shard. You must hurry!

this quest is started by talking to vael before he is engaged you then have 5 hours to. once he is dead you just have to go up and loot the shard to turn back in to anachranos in Tanaris, the shadow resist necklace is excelent for any warlock who is going to be tanking for twin emperors.

be wary i have heard that only one person may complete this quest per BWL run. i'm not 100% sure this is a fact but it is better to be cautions then have soemone mad about not completing the quest

Just like the quest to kill boss 3 in BWL. The quest item can only be got by one. Better announce the quest item rule by Raid Leader before killing nef. BTW, 5 hours run from vael to nef is not mission impossible, quite easy one.

i did this quest a month ago. you start by getting Broodlord's Head and doing Only One May Rise. You then talk to Vael in BWL (2nd Boss) before the MT starts the encounter. Nef starts yelling about a chip in the shard, come and get him throughout the 5 hour quest timer. when you down Nef, you then loot the scepter shard and go back and complete the quest and pick your reward.

For those, who don't know yet - you have a 5 hour timer to clear bwl and slay nefarian to optain the shard - otherwhise you'll only find a letter on his desk...

the timer does stop if EVERYONE leaves......but if one person sits in there chatting or whatnot - the timer still runs. My guilds runs this quest every week for ppl....its not that hard if you farm nef.

and to the ppl who keep saying whats the point of doing this quest if the gates are open...have you even checked out that epic resist pieces and whatnot you can get from this? IMO its easier to complete if the gates are already open b/c you dont have to farm more bugs than your 200 original carapaces....

It should be noted that this whole thing about clearing BWL in 5 hours works about as good as anything else in this game. That is to say, 5 hours can meen 5 hours, an afternoon, a few days, or a week at the most. We've had 2 people loot this part in my guild this far, and we've never completed BWL in 5 hours.

Both these incidents have involved 2 trips to the instance (the first one ending after Vael). The timer appears to be bugged somehow, so that it can reset when you reenter BWL. It could be that if you get out of BWL before neffy destroys the shard, the timer resets (don't even know if we did this), or it could just be that it resets at random if you're lucky or whatever. Don't know what causes it, just that it happens. Hope I get my part soon :)

The choice is obvious for hunters shaman leather and cloth wearers. But what's good for tanks. It didn't really occur to me to wear anything but plate to tank until I saw these pants. The agil/stam are great and the shadow resist is insane. What should plate wearers wear?

The time limit is from the start of the quest before engaging Vael to the death of Nefarian. Unfortunately, starting the Nefarian encoutner before the 5 hour limit and ending it after does not work. He has to die in <= 5 hours.

only one guy / session can do the quest/can loot the red shard.

funny part for us is that we did it in 2days.
first day was 4hrs run upto nef and wipe at zerg (
2days later we killed him first try and were able to loot the shard.
