Bristleback Quilboar Tusk (60)

Description

Perhaps you know the pain of uncertainty, perhaps not, <class>. But know this: I stand here every day, from the sun's rising till its decline, scouring the horizon for more of those monsters. I've killed every pig man I've come across since, but my thirst for their blood is far from quenched. Perhaps instead of heading north to the Crossroads I should have headed to Taurajo.

You, <class>--you could help me.

Kill them. Kill as many as you can. Bring me their tusks, and we will celebrate their deaths together.

The quest items have at least a 100% drop rate off of the appropriate mobs when you have this quest. Each mob will drop 1 or 2 of these at a time, so it's not as dauntign a task as it first seems.

To save some time, this quest can easily be done with "Tribes At War" (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=878), as the mobs for that quest drop the quest items for this quest.

For those who have Cosmos mods the coords for the BEST location are... 52,55

If you stand at the loc and look around there are TONS and TONS of piggy thingys to kill. You'll get all the tusks you need! GOOD LUCK!

Oh and for those who DON'T have Cosmos etc it's DIRECTLY WEST of Northwatch Hold and just EAST and a little north of Camp T.

This is not a tough quest. There are lots of different types of Quillboars in camps North of Camp Taurajo to the west of the Gold Road. They are mostly 17s and 18s and some have a sort of poisoned shot.

But nothing is as annoying as the flying serpent trick. Near the quill camps there are one or two of these lovely creatures. They fire a bolt of lightning that does about 500+ damage each time and they are hard to see. If you aggro a bunch of quills and happen to be a non-armor wearer, you might want to run off and regroup. While you're regrouping, the serpent starts shooting at you and just does not stop. My poor rogue ran all the way to Key West and that thing was still shooting at her three days later.

In terms of firepower relative to size, these things are impressively lethal. Clear them out before you hunt for the quills or you will spend a lot of time in the Tombstone Tavern.

The villages with the mobs in extend a long way from near the camp upwards. Further North I struggles as the mobs were lvl 18 & 19 and they were closer together. Also others predators keep getting involved. Further sSouth near the camp it's a lot easier to solo. I'm a lvl 18 Hunter

Took me One hour and and four min. i did it solo at lvl 17 and lvled half way through.
You just have to make sure if you are a low lvl (around my lvl i guess :|) make sure you dont get doubled. They love to double you.
Also make sure you have some empty slots in your bag 3 slots for the Bristleback Quilboar Tusks and some extra just incase you find something you like.

I gain 1950 experience.

Solo'd (as Lvl 17 Hunter) in about 35-45 min.

Only died once (accidentally aggro'd 4 mobs... lol)

Picked-up 5 Green Drops.

Went from Lvl 17-19.

Awesome Xp (4800 Xp)

--Don't Forget--

Pick-up "Tribes at War" from the dude in the cage in Camp Taurajo before you start "Consumed by Hatred."

I ended Consumed By Hatred, and was talking to the guy, but he killed himself rightaway and he didn't even rewarded me. And worse, now I can't end tribes at war neither.

Is there something I can do?

Just have to say, this is the first place I have been that has awesome drops. I am a lvl 19 Mage and it is an excellent place to get some xp and farm at the same time. The chests also tend to have some decent greens as well.

About 1/3 of the way through this quest you will start to fall asleep. You will look at your quest log and see 19/60 and your heart will drop. This quest takes 45 minutes and in my opinion should be changed. For lower levels the xp is good which is one up side. You find the quilboars Northwest of Camp Taurajo against the mountain side. Just Warning you now, this will be a long boring hour of watching the barrens chat.

These mobs is great for grinding from lvl 16-20 for XP. I don't really know about their drop but it doesn't seem too good - but it's still great for XP. In lvl 16 you may watch out a little, if you have bad equip, try to not aggro 2 of them at same time. Otherwise, they are very easy to kill, even though they do decent damage. As well, you can also trade the blood shards for buffs to a mob in Taurajo - so it gets even easier. You should get the quest and then start grinding, so you make the quest at same time - because this quest is simply 100% about grinding these mobs.

Just solo'd this with my lvl 18 rogue. I did "Tribes at War" and "Cry of the Thunderhawk" at the same time, since they're in the same area. Took me 30 minutes.

I got:
50 Blood Shards,
60 Linen/wool Cloth,
1 Gold Bar,
1 Moss Agate,
1 Shadowgem,
Mystic's Bracelets,
Runic Stave,
Gnarled Hermit's Staff,
Twin-Bladed Axe of the Monkey,
War Paint Gloves,
Ritual Gloves of Spirit,
Schematic: E-Z throw dynamite,
17 bars of rested XP, just from killing the mobs,
1650XP for "Tribes at War",
1250XP for the follow-up tp "Tribes at War",
1950XP for "Consumbed by Hatred",
1950XP for "Cry of the Thunderhawk",
And about 1g20, from the mobs/quest rewards/items I vendored.

Ok, sorry this was so long but I wanted to be thorough :D

Mobs are located just north of Camp Taurajo.

I completed this quest as a level 18 Priest in about 40-45 min. Scored ~4.5k exp and 4 green drops.

The Raptor Grounds for the quests Raptor Thieves and Raptor Horns are located northeast of here, for convienence.

I'm a lvl 17 undead warrior right now doing this quest. It's doable but expect to die quite a bit as I have. One tactic I have found to work is once you have almost killed them and they start to run away, pull out your projectile and hit them from afar to finish them off. This helps since they like to run into crowds of other thistleboars as well as the fact that the thornweavers cast binding roots on you(so you cant move) and run away. I'm about 1/3 of the way done.

This quest is just a very simple quest where you go on a rampage. Their bases can be found just north of Camp Taurajo, just in the mountain and a little bit out. They're easy to find, and they're very many. Level 19 hunter, i just went rampage.
