Under the Shadow

Check your map to find an area under Scourge attack. Go there and damage a necropolis by defeating the Scourge around them. Return 10 of their Necrotic Runes to Commander Thomas Helleran at Light's Hope Chapel in the Eastern Plaguelands.

Necrotic Rune (10)

Description

The floating necropolises of the Scourge plague the lands of Horde and Alliance alike. Tanaris, the Blasted Lands, Winterspring and the Burning Steppes are blanketed in the shadows of the flying fortresses.

Only through our combined efforts will they be turned away.

The necropolises are supported by magical circles at various points in the invaded areas. We have determined that destroying the mindless hordes that surround these circles will destroy their defenses.

The location may vary even within a single zone. For example in EPL I have seen the Necropolis appear close to Lights Hope Chapel, as well as near the entrance to EPL itself.

If you look at the Necropolis, you will see the large crystal..Pulse..when it does this, it then sends out what looks like glowing crystals to the locations that are spawning the Scourge. Follow the crystals, and enjoy.

I found this to be a very easy quest, as a level 60 Human Paladin with low-grade gear (Less than Tier 0). Probably doable at a much lower level. The mobs like to pack in tight, so the only danger is drawing aggro from 3+ of them on a bad pull. The mobs are all 59/60 non-Elites. I spent @ 30mins of actual grinding to complete. The drop rate on the stones is greater than 10%.

At Revered with the Argent Dawn, this quest grants you 50 reputation points with that faction (55 if you are Human).

This quest does not appear to be part of a chain.

The location where I did my grinding was in Tanaris, near Gadge close to the graveyard.

I have been looking at my map looking for the skulls but i have not seen anything at all, Is it still active or what?

As said above, if you are looking for where the attacks are taking place go to the map and zoom out to the continent view.&nbsp You will see skulls at any location where an attack is taking place.

At Revered it seems that you can no longer gain Rep simply by killing the mobs that surround the Crystals, I do believe though that you are still able to gain rep towards Exalted by doing Scholo/Strat. Ill be testing that out later today.

It was in Eastern Plaguelands at 22.84 1 hour ago,but i did not know that the location moves to another place after some time,so forget about 22.84.I dont know the latest location right now.sorry&nbsp :)

Ok, so I get the 10 Necrotic runes and go to LHC and I cannot find this Helleran guy anywhere, inside or outside the chappel.&nbsp Is he like a spawn that only appears part of the time?&nbsp Could Horde have killed him?&nbsp I don't get it.

I just finished this quest, and my group went to go kill another camp of scourge, and then we all get lag, and log off.&nbsp When we get back, the scourge are gone.

After killing off the bosses, i go to Light Chapel and I cannot find the guy who i give the quest to.&nbsp Is he gone forever?&nbsp Because i really wanted to get the tabard from AD

I can't seem to find a sheleton to kill anywhere.. been under the necropolis, inside each of the three purple circle things there are also.. cant find anything!

On my server, Shattered Hand, all the invasions are over, when do they respawn and is it at the same location as the first spawn?

The attacks are gone.. there is only 1 attack left in tanaris but its gone when i was there. Are they coming back? or is it to late?

i am lvl 37 and i walk all the way to LHC and didnt pick up quest i got a 60 help me got the runes.

i cant find where to turn them in..am i too low?

anyone has the same experience?..

I completed these 2 quests like one week ago, and found that he has a "!" over his head again..

and yes, I do these 2 quests again..

dunno if the "!" will pop again :O

funny tho..maybe it could be repeated after a certain time?

Really easy quest. Killed about 30 creatures (Skeletal shocktroopers and Specral Soldiers) before all 10 dropped.

Remember to wear your AD token so you can pick up the scourgestones too!

Those locations are for random invasion points. Anyone know where to get the "Under the Shadow" quest itself? NPC and coords? I spoke to Commander Thomas Helleran (I'm a 60 mage) but he didn't offer it.
