Investigate the Scourge of Undercity

Collect three Dim Necrotic Stones from the Scourge outside Undercity and investigate the glowing runic circles nearby their encampment.

Description

The Lich King has sent his undead upon our very doorstep; we cannot remain idle! Surely you will step up to defend Undercity from these accursed invaders?

There are strange runic circles outside, glowing with the same energy that surrounds the undead and the Necropolis above. They have significance, I'm certain, and I want you to find out what. Thin the numbers of those aberrations while you're at it; bring me proof of their death along with your results, and I will reward you. Go!

Head outside of the entrance to UC...near the Zepellin tower and near the floating necropolis. To get the stones, look for Skeletal Soldiers and/or vapor demon things that are ported (via a purple lightning bolt) to the ground from the floating necopolis. You will know who they are cause they will have a purple glow around them. Kill them....they drop the red stones every now and then. If you dont see any at first, just wait a few minutes, they will appear every so often with the sound of a lightning bolt.

To investigate the cirlce, look for a large glowy, purple symbol on the ground with swirling text around it, just stand in the center of that and you will "investigate" it.

killed four of the spectral appararitions and got all three gems, sounds like you were unlucky dude.

The guys for this quest are right outside of UC to the left as you go towards the zepps. The drop rate of the gem is incredibly low :( I had to kill a good 25-30 of them before I got all 3. They're only 6th level though. Just stand inside the circle for the investigate part. at 12th level I got 525xp and 1s 75cp.
