Fragmented Magic

Polymorph the Spitelash of Azshara and kill the clones that appear several seconds later. When you have slain 50 Polymorph Clones, return to Archmage Xylem in Azshara.

Polymorph Clone slain (50)
Prismatic Shell
Provided Item:
Prismatic Shell

Description

My research has revealed a unique purpose for the prismatic shell.

Carry the shell and cast your polymorph spell on the Spitelash in Azshara. If you wait a few moments, the chaotic aura of the shell will cause them to split into several smaller clones for a few moments. Kill these clones as quickly as possible, and the shell will collect their essence.

When the shell is full, return it to me.

Very easy quest.

Polymorph the naga, and immediately run up to them. The naga will split in to anywhere from 2-5 clones. A single arcane explosion or frost nova is enough to take them all out.

Make sure you have quick reflexes as the clones run away quick, and if you're not fast you wont get all of them. Keep moving on till you kill 50 of the clones. It doesn't matter if you kill 1 or 5 clones that spawn. There is no limit.

If you happen to have Polymorph - Turtle, do not use it for this quest. The naga never split off into turtle clones. Just use your regular sheepy polymorph.

The Spitelash are the Naga all over the Ruins of Eldarath located at 36,53.
Polymorph one and after a few seconds it will turn into a 3-6 sheep that have about 150hp. Kill them and you will gain a "Polymorph Clone Slain
" point. You will need to slay 50 it's not as hard as it sounds though. Quite easy and Quite fun :P

Spitelash are the naga inhabiting the area. Near where you killed the Warlord they are abundant.
For the above-above poster, check if you are in a raid group. If not abandon and retry.

Actually there's a much easier method!..
Simply cast a polymorph, wait 1-2 seconds, then cast a rank 1 Blizzard right ontop of the Naga.
The sheep breaks, but it still break into clones, and you kill them all every time. (Well at least I didn't miss any with this method.)

Happy hunting!

At the moment of writing this quest is bugged: you will not receive the spell. Should this happen, open a ticket and a GM will help you with it (link to the conversation).

I think this quest is worth it if you are bored of sheep or just want a change for a while.

Its easier to do than i thought as well. You just need to find any naga in the region (with the name spitlash -which seems to be most) and polymorph them. After around 2 seconds they split into around 2 to 4 other mini sheeps which run very fast. To get 50 you have to kill fast and i did this by using arcane explosion as soon as they spawned. Getting them all before they run.
Hope this helps.

Erh, what do you mean you've never seen pigs in Azeroth? Boars are the wild ancestors of the domestic pig. Thus, you've seen plenty of pigs.

And, so you don't go into semantics about the word "ancestor", wild boars are still very much a prevalent species at this time.

:) Next time think before you criticise.

can be easily completed with 5-10 mobs polymorphed and clones killed with arcane explosion. just head towards the naga temple from the landing point and you wil encounter enough mobs in no time.

Just polymorph one naga creature. Wait as it will soon split into many polymorph's in which you just arcane explosion and kill them. Rinse and repeat for maybe 3 minutes. Enjoy pigging people!

Zip back over and sheep any spitlash, stand on top of them and AE or frost nova, to kill the 2-5 spawns. Rince repeat til you get 50. Mr. wiggles senior.

i really don't know why you all hate the reward, i think the quest is fun, and that the reward is worth it.

This isnt exactly disappointing its nice to have and fun but it probaly means mages dont get a epic q
Im really disappointed that some classes dont have anything like that!I mean look Paladins and warlocks have epic q for mount hunters have rhok delar and priests have benediction anethema Sure thyere not easy to get but they have a chance for it which is more tha i can say for a couple of classes
I play a rogue or mage sometimes and to find that they dont have anything like anethema is really really disappointing..I mean give us classes something off cache of the firelord or a good quest so we can get above stndard items from qs too..
When i heard theres a level 60 q for mages i was a bit more expectant of soemthing good

Im aware that theres better items in the game too but theyre at a higher level than MC

For a level 60 class quest with a reward of polymorph pig, this quest is quite easy, considering all the Spitelash Naga you need to cast the spell upon are below your level, just watch out for the mini-sheep, they like to run!

hit it once with a low lvl spell.
then sheep.
follow it around when it disappears hit AE.
best way to do it. that i found :D
i hope this helps.

I got this quest after killing that warlord few (~7) times (takes hell of time to respawn). Then I go to sheep spitelashes and kill small sheeps.. but after 37/50, I just can't get any reward from killing sheeps. I reseted quest and nothing. I'm making all the way in same way but just no kills. Before that sheeped target died with other small sheeps, no it just pops back to normal. When I try to resheep it, its immune but still goes to sheep. Bug or wtf?

Update:

Well my mistake, party turned to raid and then quests can't be done. :)
Anyway, that sheeping bug still remains. Resheep causes mob to be "immune", but still it goes to sheep. So resheep if possible to make killing faster. :)

Any spitelash will work and you get like 2-5 kills from one mob.
Just sheep it and use AE to kill sheeps.

Really fun quest.

Use an AoE as soon as they break apart to catch all the little guys at once.

The reward is awesome.

When you polymorph the spitelash, after a few secs it turns into several lv.10 sheeps that u can easily and fast kill by AOE.

A trick though: Kill all the small sheeps except the original one, and u can sheep the same guy over and over again, (without killing the original mob), and he'll spawn new ones. This makes it all go faster too, and dont have to run around hunting alot of spitelashes. ^^

As a level 60, it was easy, just took me a couple kills to figure which way the clones would be running :")
