Magram Alliance

Gain a Friendly reputation with the Magram, then speak with Warug.
  •
Magram Clan Centaur (Friendly)

Description

To beat the centaur, we must use their hatred against them. We will ally with one of the clans and through them, we will learn how to defeat all the clans.

If you choose to ally with the Magram then slay their foes, the Gelkis. This will earn you respect among the Magram. When you earn enough, then meet with the Magram spokesman Warug, on the outskirts of the Magram Village, in southeast Desolace.

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp If you really want leather armor or you find yourself questing in South Desolace often, choose to pick the Magram rather than the Gelkis. If you want mail armor or you find yourself questing in East Desolace often, go ahead and side with the Gelkis.
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp I would side with the Gelkis just because it's much easier to kill the Magram for rep or quests. The Gelkis are mostly in that cave (oh, how I hate that cave!) and the huge hole in the ground that's hard to kill in. Magrams have water in their camp true, but all the more reason to pick them. No close-quarters fighting for you casters, and flee into the water if you get too many adds.
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp In reality, it's all up to you.

Before accepting this quest or Gelkis Alliance (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=1368) it is a good idea to check the rewards for the final quest in the series since you can only complete one series without taking a lot of effort faction grinding after finishing one series.

The rewards for the Gelkis Alliance series are:
-Gelkis Marauder Chain (mail chest: 14 agi, 7 str https://classicdb.ch/?item=6773)
-Uthek's Finger (off-hand: 5 stam, 5 int, 5 spi https://classicdb.ch/?item=6774)

The rewards for the Magram Alliance series are:
-Magram Hunter's Belt (leather belt: 8 agi, 9 stam https://classicdb.ch/?item=6788)
-Ceremonial Centaur Blanket (cloak: 2 int, 9 spi https://classicdb.ch/?item=6789)

Fun facts:
Each kill gives you 20 reputation, while taking 100 reputation from the opposing faction.
Therefore, it will take you 50 kills in order to become Friendly with the prescribed faction.

Ok, since i found this quest extremly confusing (yeah i gotta be stupid ;D) and didn't get any help from reading the comments posted here i'll just make my own little tutorial ;D

To get friendly rep with the Magram Clan Centaur you have to kill these NPCs:These will all give you a +20 Rep with Magram Clan Centaur and -100 Rep with Gelkis Clan Centaur.
You have to kill 50 of these to reach Friendly rep with Magram Clan Centaur, at this point you will NOT have Hostile rep with Gelkis Clan Centaur, you will be at 0/3000 on Unfriendly. Then you just turn it in at Warug.

The quest will give you:
725xp (@Lvl32)
+250 Rep with Magram Clan Centaur
-250 Rep with Gelkis Clan Centaur

It's a pretty easy quest since these guys won't attack you unless you attack first, but they WILL pull eachother if you let a fleeing one run to his allies.

Hope this helps anyone ;P

Edit: Fixed some links and added reward.

Here's an overall of the quests and their exp rewards...
- Magram -
:. Assault on the Kolkar .: 2550 exp. Difficulty: Easy at proper level.
:.Broken Tears.: 2850 exp. Difficulty: Easy at proper level.
:.Gizmo for Warug.: 2050 exp Difficulty: Damn easy, may cost you some money.
:.Khan Shaka.: 2850 exp Difficulty: Moderate, may require a group.
:.Khan Hratha.: 1700 exp, and rewards mentioned in above posts. Difficulty: Moderate - Difficult depending on level and class. May require a group.
Total EXP: 12000

- Gelkis -
:.Raid on the Kolkar.: 2550 exp Difficulty: Easy at proper level
:.Stealing supplies.: 1350 exp, 18 silver in quest rewards Difficulty: Easy at proper level
:.Ongeku.: 2850 exp Difficulty: Difficult. The camp where Ongeku is crowded, and they're all runners.
:.Khan Jen.: 2850 exp Difficulty: Moderate.
:.Khan Hratha.: 4300 exp Difficulty: Difficult.
Total exp: 13900

Although the Gelkis quests are a bit harder, they do seem to yield more exp and there's some extra silver from one of the quests. I honestly don't know why the final magram quest yields less exp than the gelkis final quest. They're both the same. >_>

Warug is located north-east of the village, on a hill. Look for a path that isn't to steep into the mountains. He will, of course, show up on the minimap when you get close enough.

I personally saw this particular questline(as a hunter) as a perfect way to grind XP from lvl 30-40, desolace was my home, and you have to admit that you grind better when there is some reward looming overhead, I think this quest was tottaly worth it IMHO

I chose the Magram Quest, and I am crossposting for possible relevance. I counted the number of Gelkis kills, and checked my rep before and after I started and did a few calculations.

0.0026 rep decrease with Gelkis Clan per Gelkis Clan centaur killed at lv 37. 0.0077 rep increase with Magram clan per Gelkis clan centaur killed at lv 37. if you take this quest at lv 37, which is a lv 33 green for me right now, to go from 4.0 neutral to friendly (at 5.0) for Magram it will take 130 centaur kills. If you get the quest at a lower level, it will take 35 or so centaur kills, per firsthand accounts by groupies.

You can do your own calculations by checking the Reputation tab on your character.

Edit1: I am sooooooo dumping this quest... currently at 4.7166667 (Neutral) with Magram Clan, and 1.8319444 (Hated) with Gelkis Clan. At this rate, for me to get to 5.0 (Friendly) with Magram, I will need 0.2833333 increase in rep. With my calculations above, and I've been getting 73 or so xp per kill (hardly leveling material), it will take me 36.79 more kills to reach friendly, or 37 kills.

Edit2: Hrm. maybe I will tough it out. 37 kills, with about 68 copper per kill (guestimate), gives me 2516 copper = 25 silver 16 copper. on third thought.... I'm going to STV.

coords of the gelkis centaurs are like 39,90 and 35,90 and south of the 2 coords i jus said

not coords and genral directions:::

go west from mannorac coven on the path and take the first left...

or

go east on the path from shadowprey village and take the first right

follow the path down and you will see the gelkis centaurs.

your rep will be like 1100 check it by pressing c and then clicking rep on the bottom bar. the scroll down and it will say your rep with the gelkis and magram. killing the gelks should slowly get your rep up witht the maggram. you get 20 rep for killing each one and in the beginning your rep should be like 1000

you need to make approx 50 kills
gelks range from levs 33-35's the ones right to the south of the coords have minions

First you have to remove the sword icon from your reputation bar with the Magram and then kill a lot of Gelkis'. That's 20 points pr Gelkis so there will be a lot of killing...
When done, go to the Magram camp, behind the camp in the mountain, you will find the quest finisher. The waypoint is 75.68.
Now, I got some exp by killing all these Gelkis' but its no more than 240/250 a piece... Then i got 650 exp from finishing the quest. Found no fancy items on the Gelkis'...

I do not recommend this quest.. Skip it, its not worth the time.

I really, don't know what you people are talking about. This quest takes nowhere near 2-3 hours. I did it in 35 minutes (I know because I found an Agility II scroll on my first drop and was able to time it easily). Solo'd with a 32 UD Rogue with very little downtime between fights. Crippling Poison means mobs won't run to their friends when they are low on HPs, and with pickpocket I made around 1.5 Gold in the end. A little hint, untick the box that says At War with the Magrams, but keep the Gelkis one selected. Common sense tells me that if you are at war with their allies and friendly with the Magrams, they will befriend you faster.

Mobs are 32-33, with 34 Casters and their 29 Elemental minions, and some 36 deep in the area inside huts.

was curious what the benefits of this were,
Personally i did the other side and sided with the gelkis mostly
in character cause the magram are pretty bad, working with the undead yadda yadda. The gelkis side took me an hour and 15 but then i AM a druid so everything takes longer.

The follow up quest to this one is Broken Tears. You have to go back to the Gelkis Village and into the cave they have on the back mountian wall. Just inside there are large blueish white cyrstals you have to bring 3 of them back to Warug. The quest gives you 2650 xp and another quest. The next quest is called Gizmo for Warug you have to bring him an advance targetting dummy. I am still working on this one will update when I finish it.

I did this quest on my main awhile ago and yes, it took about 2 hours of non-stop killing.

I'm about to try it again with my alt, so we'll see if it's any different. Going from Neutral to Friendly is a PITA when each kill is only a 'very slight increase'. I guess they're not the worst mobs to grind on since they drop cash, but it is still a grind.

You know, for all the whining about this quest - it really didn't take that long at all. From what people here are saying I expected hours of painstaking grinding but it took less than an hour. Actually perceptually it didn't even really feel like I killed more of these than I would kill of any mob for any standard drop rate quest (collect 10 turtle meat, etc).

I think this is a case where the whine FAR exceeds the actual trouble.

I just finished this with a level 37 Orc Warrior, and maybe spent thirty-five minutes on it. I just killed all of the Gelkis I saw (probably around fifty, in total), and easily got the Friendly rating. I haven't turned it in, yet, so I am unable to comment on the reward.

I took both quests ,not being sure which way to go.As i ran thru the Magram Village nothing happened then after fiding the Gelkis two of the casters agroed me..(This made choice easy)
After killing one of these i checked Reputation page and both new factions were there.
Both were yellow ,Neutral and at war,so i removed the tick against Magram, started killing the Gelkis.
After about 20 kills there was a noticeable change in levels of factions, the name tags above the Gelkis had even gone from yellow to an orange colour.
Im guessing with this change after 20 it shouldnt take many more (lets hope so :p)
