Kirith

Find out what became of Lieutenant Kirith.

Description

As one chapter of your adventure closes, another one begins, <name>.

One of my men is still unaccounted for, lost somewhere in the Blasted Lands. I am talking about Lieutenant Kirith, of course.

As I had mentioned earlier, we were both imprisoned and tortured by Allistarj, but poor Kirith, his strength of will faltered. I could hear the experiments from my cage; the tortured screams rang through the halls of the cave. That was the last I saw or heard of Kirith.

This is a quest in a chain of 23 that runs pretty much all over the map.
However, it all starts with the Fallen Hero of the Horde.
(Hat tip to Xeir for the initial connectors between chains.)

Technically, it's four chain quests that tie into each other:
Chain 1:
1. Fall From Grace
2. The Disgraced One
3. The Missing Orders
4. The Swamp Talker

Chain 2:
1. Petty Squabbles
2. A Tale of Sorrow
3. The Stones That Bind Us
4. Heroes of Old
5. Heroes of Old

Chain 3:
1. Kirith
2. The Cover of Darkness
3. The Demon Hunter
4. Loramus
5. Breaking the Ward
6. The Name of the Beast
7. The Name of the Beast
8. The Name of the Beast
9. Azsharite

Chain 4:
1. The Formation of Felbane
2. Enchanted Azsharite Fel Weaponry
3. Return to the Blasted Lands
4. Uniting the Shattered Amulet
5. You Are Rakh'likh, Demon

Completing the entire chain gives you the following:
103,685XP at appropriate level
Shard of Afrasa
Enchanted Azsharite Felbane (Dagger, Sword or Staff)
Necklace of Sanctuary
Demon's Blood
Demon Hide Sack

A good strat to do this and avoid the respawn rate is to avoid looting, I know its hard, but then the corpses will lay on the ground for about 12 mins before despawning which should give you PLENTY of time to finish Kirith and be out of there before the respans pop!

The cave is on the eastern side of the Blasted Lands. After killing the 55 elite demon Kirith (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=7728), his spirit will appear (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=7729). Talk to the spirit to complete the quest.

Ok, here are the directions..
1. Fly To Nethergarde Keep
2. Go to The Seprents Coil, near where you kill ashmane boars/basilisks and above The Dark Portal.
3. Clear all addons remember Servant Of Allistarj cannot be killed.
4. Enter The Cave.
5. Kill Everything in the way.
6. Follow the path.
7. You will reach a place where you must turn left to continue.
8. If it is the wrong place there will be 2 normal mobs.
9. If it is the RIGHT place (second time it looks the same as the first) there will be 2 mobs and a GIANT felhunter.
10. Kill the mob standing on the correct direction to continue walking into the cave.
11. Kill the mob that can be pulled.
12. If you are alone, there are 2 types of tactics:
- Go allout against Kirith The Damned and either kill him and quickly talk to his spririt for the followup or..
- Kill the adds and die then kill Kirith..
WARNING- The mobs spawn VERY fast.
13. If you are in a group 1 person takes out the addons and 1 goes againts Kirith. AS long as adds die ure good.
14. The person fighting Kirith may die, the look at Kiriths health, either go allout against him or die and go together.
15. Talk to the spirit.
16. If your a miner there is a Small Thorium Vein behind Kirith, mine it.
17. Then either:
-Stealth out
-Hearthstone out
-Kill all the spawns (basically everything u killed before) and exit the cave.
18. Go to the Fallen Hero Of The Horde to handin your quest and get the followup to go to Azshara.

Ok this quest is a pain.. I found Kirith in the very bottom of the cave found in serpents coil. HE is a HUGE Felbeast. Mages this must suck for you cause he drains huge chunks of mana.. Also he comes with 2 of the local baddies. Much luck to all who attempt this solo.. My third attemp and I am about to call a guildie in for backup

Talk to the Fallen Hero at the entrance to the Blasted Lands.

I believe he'll only have this quest for you if you've completed his other quest chains.

You don't actually have to be the one to kill Kirith the Damned ( http://classicdb.ch/?npc=7728 ) to finish this quest. My group came in there as a level 70 had just killed him and we could talk to the Spirit of Kirith ( http://classicdb.ch/?npc=7729 ) and complete the quest anyway.

So if you happen to just find him dead as you get in there, no need to turn around and wait for a respawn. (Though he does respawn fairly quickly, we waited for it and killed him for the fun of it, took maybe 4 minutes for him to respawn).

Actually, there are two elites in this cave, which might account for the confusion. A L58 Elite mage guards the chest. Kirith is the L55 Elite mentioned in the quest.

The first time I tried this with my druid, I had help. No sweat. Thought I might try to solo it with my 56 warlock using the tricks mentioned above.

No luck each time I tried to pull a guard, they all came, followed by Kirith. I could enslave him but the guards kept killing me before he could kill them.

Came back at level 62 with a felguard, whom I figured could handle Kirith and the guards. Two of them ignored the felguard (even when he was targeted to them) and came for me. While I was killing them, I stupidly backed outside the healing range and couldn't get back before Kirith killed the felguard. Duh.

Couldn't rez behind Kirith (too far away) and the cave is so thick with mobs it's almost impossible to rez anywhere without starting a party, but I found a place in a side alley near the archmage.

This time I started again, cleared all the guards outside Kirith's chamber (6? 7? 439?), and didn't loot (as instructed). Thought I might just try pulling one of his guards.

Amazing. I was able to pull each of the four guards, though the last two came together. Obviously no problem for a 62 felguard. Kirith was left alone. The felguard sliced and diced him with no problem, with the usual assistance from me.

What happened? I have no idea. Every time I tried to pull one before, they all came, followed by Kirith, the 101st Airborne and the Cleveland Symphony. This time I was able to hand them alone or in a group of two. Change in the weather? Full moon?

I did try to time the pull when Kirith had his back turned. Could it have been that simple? Who knows? But if you can pull the guards in singles or a group of two, Kirith is no big deal just take a little longer to get through all those hit points. Good luck. I hope you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

This Huge Fel Hunter is in the cave at Serpents Coil.

Fight your way into the place and all the way through till you get to the big demon dog )

Just before attacking it sacrifice voidy run in and enslave Kirith (55 Elite not 58). Then set Kirith onto the mobs that are left. Do not fight the mobs. Let Kirith fight all the mobs that come along as you work your way back out of the cave until it is dead. If you have Fel Domination cast that then voidy.

Sacrifice voidy again and speak to the ghost of Kirith. Collect the quest. Fear/howl the mobs you have collected if you have any and Harth outta there. I did it at lvl 56 and had 80% health left.

I soloed this dude as a 59 Feral Druid (58 maybe). It was not easy. For some reason I was able to pull the mobs near Kirith without Kirith responding. I waited until his head (where the mob actually is as far as the programming is concerned) was farthest from his buddies.

After taking them out I was unfortunely forced to rush into battle without preparation because an Alliance party was coming up behind me and I didn't want them to steal my kill.

So I ran into his aggro and Regrowthed myself while he beat on me (idealy, I do this BEFORE I start the fight). Then bear form, shift out to triple-heal, and needed a mana potion in order to have enough to shift back to bear. I only had about 5% left when he died.

Got him on the first try.

I think this q is very easy for locks...
just fight ur way in (lvl 53-54 mobs alone no problem) then when u get to the demon simply enslave it, then let the other mobs hit him (dont do anything dont help him) they'll take about 40% of his life. when he killed them send him to the Archmage's room nearby (dont aggro the mage cuz u'll have problems later if u do) and let the lots of mobs there kill him. When he's dead the mobs will come after u so u have to hurry speak to the spirit appeared at the demon's corpse (a bit hard to select it) then if u have enough health u can run, of u can simply let them kill u then u can res at the graveyard and turn the q in.
For other classes...hmmm i think u'll need a group to do this. (or maybe u can try on lvl 60 alone)

Well, as a 56 warlock I just killed this felhunter guy and it's no problem. Wait for the second respawn, kill 'em all, wait until he's on the very left and pull him. 1 of his ads came with him but I just banned him and killed the ad first. After that, same tactic as with Elite dinosaurs in Un'goro... full Debuffs and fear.
Easy.

You don't have to be the one who kills Kirith to talk to his spirit. So long as someone kills him and his spirit appears, anyone with the quest can talk to him and turn in the quest regardless of whether you took part in the killing.

So if you see a bunch of peeps going for him, just tag along =)

This quest for kirith was to easy for a 60 warlock. Okay Kirith the damned is a freakin Demon, so that means yes you can banish until his hole in the wall is cleared of mobs. Then after you banish him a few times set your void on him to astablish aggro and lay some dots on the mean beast and heal your void so he does not die. you can banish a few more times in the fight to bandage yourself and bring your voids life to full again and repeat the process. If you do this as a lock you will complete the quest without a death. Oh and please do not loot the bodies before you hit kirith's hole. bad juju if you do.

Soloed as 58lvl rogue. First started by killing one of the adds. After he was down, just vanished and regained health. After that, sapped the last add and went for Kirith. As 21/0/28 build I had preparation and cold blood. Used two evasions and two cold bloods. Also had to take one potion, but it was worth of it. One thing as rogue is that you don't interrup the mana drain. It has ~4sec casting time and makes no damage, just burns mana. So just wait him to cast it, and you have 4sec free time to dps it.

This quest has been Nerfed I assume by the latest patch. Kirith the Damned is no longer elite, so it was a breeze as a lvl 55 Feral Druid. I even accidentally pulled both of his adds. I just stayed in bear form, only popping out once to heal up. Barkskin is our friend!

Just solo'd with my 59 Hunter which I guess you could consider duo'ing since I have a pet. Prior to this I always duo'd this part of the quest chain usually with someone who can heal and usually around level 58 or 59. The quest chain is great xp after all is said and done.

Ok, so with my Hunter I went into the cave which was mostly cleared by a rogue (probably a farmer) so I only had to take out a couple mobs on my way in.

First pull I aimed for the closest of the two adds standing near Kirith and it was a bad pull and I got all 3 of them. They killed my pet and had me down to about 3% before I could FD (Kirith's mana drain sucks).

Second attempt I watched Kirith's pathing route, when he walked as far to the left as possible (I could only see a bit of his tail) I shot that nearest add again and this time just got the two adds, not Kirith. Killed them easily and mana'd up and sent my pet into that alcove at Kirith.

I had to burn a mana pot to help me heal my pet but even so Kirith still took him down but by then Kirith was at 7% so I shoved my polearm in his eye.

Duo if you can.

Charge -> retal -> sweeping strike -> berserker stance -> cleave / whirlwind -> bloodrage -> cleave/HS/MS until all 3 are dead... works with semi-decent lvl 60 gear (not even t1)

or...

Charge -> bloodrage -> fear (!) -> berserker stance -> RECKLESSNESS -> dish out w/e damage you can deal -> kill, get quest and be prepared to die...

note : bloodrage refers to the skill that uses portion of health to gain rage. never good at remembering names.

If you are a rogue and stealthing into the back of the cave, be careful not walk to close to a brazier (as i did), because you will catch on fire and come out of stealth. Use frequent distracts instead to get past everybody in the cave.

Otherwise, quest is pretty straightforward. Kill everything in the room right before Kirith first. Then pull his adds (2 lvl 53's) when Kirith himself walks over to the leftmost point on his walk. Wait for long cooldown abilites, watch for respawns and then go take on the big guy himself.

He IS possible to solo, but i wouldn't recommend it since he damages for up to 300 in bear form and has 12k.

He also has an ability to burn mana but that's just about 200-300 mana and he does it every 20 seconds.. About that.

Here's a picture of me who just defeated him. And guess what? A goblin came 5 secs after that picture and pwned me -.-

Fairly easy for a 60 hunter.
Killed all the non-elites in the cave up to Kirith, however, there are two more that you can't pull without pulling Kirith. Pulled one with aimed shot/immolation trap, killed quickly then feigned death. Repeated for the other non-elite.
Without his adds, Kirith goes down fast using standard tactics.

You people make this sound hard. Was as easy as an elite gets for a 60 hunter + 59 cat. The two guards can be pulled and killed without activating Kirith. Then Kirith alone is easy. He's healthy, but didn't seem to hurt my cat much, and got in one mana drain on me which didn't amount to anything. Same tactic might work at 58-59 too, or even lower but you'd have to kill the guards then feign probably. A group isn't needed. I really hate the new "Group" instead of "Elite" designation. Not all Elite quests are group quests, and not all group quests.

Take a warlock.

Kirith is rather hefty felhound, but still banishable, myself and a hunter just finished the quest, the hardest part was the high respawn rate of the mobs around him. Just hammer away, and banish if need be, to deal with adds and so you can bandage if needs be.

I went on this quest with my 56 Lock. I was lucky enough to have a 58 Prot Warrior with me.
The mobs are kinda tough because of all the resists from my spells. When we got to Kirith, I Enslaved him and put him on aggressive and had kim kill most of the mobs. My mistake was sicking him on the 58 elite in the next room. My advice, don't. he is immune to most spells. Otherwise it was great.

Did this quest last night as a 52 Hunter grouped with a 54 Hunter and 58 Pally.

1st attempt was a wipe, we were all over tired and the pally jumped the gun while the 54 hunter was afk. Needless to say it did not go well.

2nd attempt was much better, cleared the mobs that surround the room that he occupies, pulled and downed him pretty quick. Krith mana burned the Pally and whomped him a couple of times really hard but the two hunters survived and killed the last two mobs. By the time the Pally got back to loot the body and talk to the spirit NPC all the surrounding mobs respawned. The NPC faded before the mobs were dispatched (all three of us were oom so it was drawn out and required pots) so we had to go for round 3.

3rd attempt was much smoother. Cleared the room, opened with aimed shot on one of the mobs that aggro with him and trapped him in a freeze. Downed Kirith quick, then the two adds. Talked to the spirit NPC and almost immedietly mobs began to respawn. Fought our way out, turned in quest.

Moral of the story is this the mobs in the cave repawn incredibly quick. Don't muck about inside the cave. Get your game plan together prior to going in.

Solod him as a level 59 pally.

I was able to pull the two non-elites in the room with him using Holy Shock. Killed them seperate, fully buffed and full mana/hp.

Judgement of Crusader, then just alternated Hammer of Justice, Judgement of Command, Seal of Command, Holy Shock. When HP got low, Divine Favor + R8 Holy Light. Hit a lot of crits, so I managed to do it without using any pots.

With the two non-elites it probably wouldn't be soloable.

If someone else (say a ganking lvl 70 hunter carrying a 52 Dranei shaman) defeats the boss-demon-dog then you can claim the quest even if someone else, even from the other faction, has recently killed it.
