Fallen Sky Lake

Retrieve a Fallen Moonstone from the Shadethicket Oracle, then bring it to Pelturas in Astranaar.
Fallen Moonstone

Description

Relara's fever has passed, but she is still very weak. I do not believe time alone will give her back the strength she has lost. I believe it will take the power of a moonstone.

We used to gather moonstones at Fallen Sky Lake to the southeast... until the Shadethickets came.

Their leader, a Shadethicket Oracle, gathered up all the fallen moonstones and hoards them. Now, you must retrieve a moonstone from the Oracle.

And to do that, I fear that you must slay him.

So many people have asked why they can't get quests from this guy so many times that thought it best to just write a guide. Enjoy!

There is a series of quests you have to do, here is the order and locations:

1) Bathran's Hair (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=1010) - The guy is located at Maestra's Post, you collect the items from Plant Bundle's which are found to the north of the Post, on the east side of the path.

2) Orendil's Cure (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=1020) - Go to Pelturas Whitemoon in the little house by the south bridge in Astranaar.

3) Elune's Tear (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=1033) - Head out of Astranaar via the south path and follow the path until you come across a small slit of water on the north side of the path. On the west side of the water slit there is a subtle path on the ground that lead to where the Tear's are. Follow the path up while eliminating all enemies. The tear's are on the small island in the middle of the water body. ( An alternate way to the place is a shortcut path near the graveyard to the South-East or Astranaar.)

4) The Ruins of Stardust (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=1034) - Head out of Astranaar from the south. You'll see a smaller path that branches off the main path on the right side. Follow it. Keep heading that direction and you'll soon walk in between two statues, and if you keep going the air will turn a pale yellow-green. There is an island in the water in that area. You collect the quest object off the sparkling plants on that island.

5) Hand in that quest and it'll leave you hear at the quest "Fallen Sky Lake." You've got a decent walk ahead of you for this one. Follow the main path from the south Astranaar exit until you come to a large T crossroad, if you left from Astranaar this T crossroad will come after you cross the bridge over the river, not before where Raynewood retreat is. Head south towards The Barrens, but keep an eye to the West side of the path. There will be a small pond. You have to kill the level 30 Shadethicket Oracle, which is usually on the small island in the pond. Collect the Moonstone and return to claim your reward.

I hope this helps some of you.

What's this nonsense about "the only orcale worth killing" HE is the only Oracle, PERIOD.
He is located at 66, 81, is level 30, has a few mobs in the area, but he is easily pulled to a safer spot, easy quest, great exp.

The quest that starts this string is Bathran's Tear https://classicdb.ch/quest=1010.&nbsp It cannot be gotten till level 20.

Try for Talbar Mantle instead https://classicdb.ch/item=4679.&nbsp Get the item (Glowing Shard) that starts that quest off the murloc boss in Wailing Caverns and can be taken at level 15.

There are other quests that are required before she will give you this one... so it's really part of a series, should be listed here... but just look up the NPC and see the other quests related. Stupid Anonymous! j/k =P

Easy to do at 28th. I did this quest on the way to doing the Mage Summoner quest in the Barrens. The Shadethicket Oracle I had to kill was level 30 but not elite. Be sure to kill the MOBs underwater less you pull the Oracle through them and aggro them too.

Upon turning in the Orb I got 3050 exp, 165 rep points with Darnassus, and a choice of the usual crappy green gear good for AH or DEing.

There is really only one oracle you should look for, and that is the one on the little patch of land that still is above water in the lake. the lake is found south-east of ashenvale, and south-west of splintertree post just a little bit. the oracle on the patch of land usually always drops it.

Clear the shore, then the water of adds first on your chosen path of approach, the lake is infested with 'em and they respawn fairly quick too. The road is a useful clear fallback. Once you get him on his own, the oracle (level 30) isn't too bad. I soloed as night elf hunter at 25 with a 24 pet (Dishu). No problems.

Based on the posts here, I decided to walk all the way there and try it with my humand lock 24. Even after cleaning the area (be careful there are some in the water as well), the oracle was too though (he is a 30th level).

I manage to get it done on second trial with the help of a Horde Troll Shaman! He died in the process (he kept taking the aggro instead of letting the Void do its job).

Never got a chance to say thanks, a respawn forced me to run.

So I bow to you again noble Troll!

On a personal note, I hope this guy is never my doctor. "Go get this to cure her" he says. "Oops, that didn't work. Go get this..." etc. With all the travelling I did to get her medicines, he's lucky the kid didn't have anything too serious or else she's be dead by the time I brought back the first item. He either obviously sucks as a doctor, he is using her as a guinea pig, or else the kid belongs to a HMO.

As with most of the other Ashenvale quests, this requires WAY too much travelling.

My wife and I did this as a Level 22 Paladin and Level 22 Druid. We died the first time, but the second time was fine. I tanked, she healed. If she aggro'd, she just rooted, and I healed her, which pissed him off in reverse. It took nigh on forever, but it was a calm forever. He just hits and hits and hits and hits, and I scratched and scratched and scratched... with her healing me, all was well.

For those of us who don't use coordinate macro, the lake you're looking for is directly east of the Silverwing Outpost/Grove. (South East part of map, just past the river)

I solo'd the oracle as a lev 26 Rogue by being sneaky sneaky...killing a few on the way to the island. Took out the oracle just as one other arrived...

Looted the oracle as i died...just one healing potion...and would'a made it scot-free! lol

Good luck to you!

I just recently finished this quest and I think it is well worth it. First off, other than the reward, you also get experience from exploring and some extra money. Know I completed this as a Level 24 Night Elf Hunter with a cat as my pet. After killing the elentals around the oracle, I went for the oracle itself. First I cast my Hunter's Mark on it then I laid a Immoltion Trap on the edge of the lake, and sent my pet after him. As my pet attacked him, I hit him with an Aimed Shot, Concussive Shot, Poison Shot, and Arcane Shot in that order. He then chased close to me so I ran. My pet distracted him and i went far back. I let my pet attack him while I used Mend Pet to heal my pet. Be careful not to Mend Pet too much or he'll come for you so lay another Immoltion Trap in front of you. Then I repeated what I did before, Hunter's Mark, Aimed Shot, Concussive Shot, Poison Shot, and Arcane Shot. I then ran and did the same thing, run, heal, trap, shoot, and I took it down. It took me three tries until I finally killed it. Make sure you watch out for Horde or Alliance depending on what race you are and you could use Freezing Traps but the Oracle will only be trapped for a while and it will still chase you. The Snapbrook Armor is the best choice for us Hunters and if your my level it is a very good armor to have. It is even better than the Tunic of Westfall. Good Luck.
