Jarl Needs a Blade

Bring a Moonsteel Broadsword to Jarl in Dustwallow Marsh.
Moonsteel Broadsword

Description

I have cutting to do. I can't tell you what I'm going to cut, but... I need myself a blade. A certain blade...

Some people call it a moonsteel broadsword. I call it a swing blade.

You help me? Maybe you find it in town, maybe you talk to a blacksmith and he'll make it special.

But don't sleep on this. What I'm cutting won't keep forever...

This quest has been changed on the 2.3 PTR. It now simply requires killing Razorspine, a nearby named murloc, and bringing his sword to Jarl. The rewards remain the same.

This guy is creepy. But seriously, yeah.....don't bother. When he says you need a Blacksmith, he doesn't mean the ones in town....he means a player Blacksmith. Bad rewards, bad exp, bad taste in cocktails. I should have figured him out with the spider eyes.

Ewww...O.o

You're better off abandoning this quest. Moonsteel Broadswords sell to vendors for over a gold. You get 35sp and one of two crappy items. You're better off just buying a better item in the AH.

I gotta say, after reading these posts, i gotta agree with the dude that called those that would kick fellow guildies for asking for help crackheads. Besides, this is an easy quest that any lvl 35 (and possibly lvl 30 too) can do and get alot of nice stuff from the spiders besides the quest items + you get exp and you get to know the area better. I havent regretted this quest at all, and if you at the same time get the quest that is burried in Jarls backyard then it is totally worth it. In total you mount up 4000exp easily, and this is cheap exp even if you have to pay 2g

This is one of those quests who are going to be famous. Abandon it as soon as you can.

If you want to get the sword via smithing, then the regents are worth around 2 gold.

If you want to buy it in the Auction House, more or less the same, around 1.5 or 2 gold.

And the reward isnt worth. The experience is not worth too, as you would get the experience farming anything from other mobs and you would get more interesting drops.

Horde - Don't forget to check the grave out back for the above mentioned 'report' quest from a severed hand. Then, once you give the report to the guy in Brackenwall, go back to Jarl's grave a second time for a quest involving a severed head.

Not sure if there's quests in the grave for Alliance but they obviously won't be the same ones.

BTW Jarl - Instead of spider eyes, how about you try some of that tinned meat. I reckon you'd like that a whole lot. Mmmmmh.

The lowest I've seen the sword for in the auction house is 1 1/2 gold which is ridiculous for what you get out of it.
This isn't the worst quest I've dealt with but I wouldn't advise dealing with it at all unless you're only interested in the (little) reputation increase you get.

Might want to pick up the quest Hungry! before you do this, can finish both off at same time, since hungry! is on the other side of map.

I like to finish mission in an area as well, but the cost for this mission are prohibtive to completion. I've been trying to get the blade, but at 2-5 g...you can forget it! You basically get under gold after selling the stuff you receive, so you/re just buying exp.

It says right in the note where to get the blade...

Additional Notes:
This item is created through smithing.

Did the 2 quests before this one, recieved the quest only 13 minutes from level and read all these posts. Decided to abandon the quest as the blade is too expensive and it's rubbish XP. Killed 2 more things and leveled to 41! Also farmed some liferoot nearby which got my herbalism to 225/225 so off to do some training :D

If you vendor the items the total quest reward is 1.2g so the loss isn't that much.
