Bring the Blackened Iron Shield to Captain Garran Vimes in Theramore.

Description

An iron shield, blackened by the fire that raged through the inn, is affixed to the crumbling chimney, one of the few remaining parts of the structure that once made up the Shady Rest Inn.

The shield can be removed from the brick of the chimney.

from research i figured out that the alliance quest indeed ends with the theramore badge, at the side of the horde you can figure out that a hunter in thunder bluff burned the inn down, and thers also a quest to kill paval reeth, so the quest for the alliance is quite useless.

This is not only alliance quest. Horde can get in to.

I spoke to Vimes at Theramore Keep 68,48 and he suggested (white talk bubble inside the interaction window, at this stage it is not a quest, just a friendly talk) that I travel to the border of The Barrens and Dustwallow Marsh to look around the burnt remains of Shady Rest Inn.

29,48 - Dustwallow Marsh map is the fireplace in Shady Rest Inn, above which is the shield that gives the quest.

The quest tells you to go to Theramore Isle and talk to Captain Garran Vimes (68,48 upstairs in the Keep). Vimes will tell you to show the shield to Caz Twosprocket at the Theramore blacksmith shop 64,50. Twosprocket sends you back to Vimes.

To get this quest you'll need to travel to the Inn in Menethil Harbor and speak to James Hyal's brother Vincent. James is the one who lost his wife and child in the fire at the Shadyrest Inn.

Vincent will give you a quest to speak with Clerk Lendry in Theramore.

Once you speak with Clerk Lendry, you'll then be able to travel to the Shadyrest Inn and click on the shield above the fireplace to get the quest.

I don't get why this q il lvl 35. I made it with lvl 30 at the same time I walked to the Thousand Needles solving the Highperch Venom Quest. You just walk through the Dustwallow Marshes, get the shield, and return. If you stay at the path leading throuch the wilderness, you won't probably not even see a mob. So there's really no need to be lvl 35.
