Infused Burning Gem (15)
Provided Item:
Burning Gem

Description

Death is most desirable for those despicable creatures that turn their back on their liege for such selfish reasons. But death is not enough when dealing with those that have given themselves over to the darkness.

Take this gem. When one of the Burning Blade's near death, activate its magic. The spell shall pull the corrupted spirit out of its victim, leaving an infused gem behind.

Bring me these infused gems so I may dispose of them properly.

Go now, and may you elude death.

You want to go to Thunder Axe Fortress (55,28).

Target:
- All the humanoids there

Conclusion:
- Right before the target is dead, right click on your "Burning Gem" to capture a "Infused Burning Gem".
- Do this 15 times, and go turn in the quest.

Found on the net:
--------------------------
Go see Craven Drok in Orgimmar (Cleft of Shadow). He'll give a quest (the first "Alliance Relations") to go see someone else in Ogrimmar, who is in the Valley of Spirts on the road near the west gate. He'll give you another quest to go to Ghost Walker Post in Desolace to start 2 quests.
-------------------------

Hope this helps :)

Somehow everyone seems to have missed the fact that the gem does 100 damage and you don't need to use a single DoT.

You might want to do https://classicdb.ch/?quest=5381 as well if you're farming round the fortress for gems.

If you are doing this as a shadow priest, you will love this quest.
All you need to do is chuck a vamp embrace and maybe a dot on them, then just spam the drain on them, free mind flay and uninterpretable. And the best thing. It procs vamp embrace since it is shadow damage.
So you have no down time since you use little to no mana. And you just need to top yourself off every now and then.

This is probably a bug though.

The gem wont work if youre shape-shifted as a druid. Super easy at 36 though. Pounce, rake, rip, shift, gem, collect your shard and move on. Any other class with some dots, dont over do your dmg, just throw the dots on and hit the gem when they get low. As stated above can be done while on http://classicdb.ch/?quest=5381 as well as http://classicdb.ch/?quest=5741

Finish of the Humanoids at Thunder Axe fortress with [Burning Gem]

As a rouge. Either garrote, deadly poison and rapture (with 3 or 4 combos) or Cheapshot, deadly poison and rapture on 5 combos. then press the crystal at 15-20%. That way u dont loose so much hp when draining.

as a paladin things can seem impossible at first, but you can do it alone, wait until they have under 20% life left and then cast consecration and have retribution aura activated and use the gem.
its tricky but you will get the hang of it

U Get the [Infused Bruning Gems] by using the [Burning Gem] on the Burning Blades at the Thunder Axe Fortres in Desolace (54,29)

Tip: Drag a shortcut to the Burning Gem to an empty slot on one of your toolbars for easy access.

Just fight any of the Burning Blades around the fortress and surrounding area. When they reach low health clich the Burning Gem. U get the least amount of damage if u wait until they reach very low health (below 10%). The channeling process doesnt have to complete for u to receive the quest items.

Repeat 15 times

You can grind the Burning Crusade members at Thunder Axe Fortress for this quest. Thunder Axe Fortress is in northern Desolace (54,28). View the map here.

Using the Burning Gem makes your player cast a channelled spell on the enemy. You must be within 30 yds of the enemy to use the Burning Gem on them. It lasts for 9 seconds, causing 100 damage every 3 seconds. The spell is NOT interrupted or disrupted at all if you take damage.
While you're chanelling the spell, your target's debuffed with Capture Spirit (description on the tooltip is "Spirit capture."). If the target dies while debuffed with Capture Spirit, you gain an Infused Burning Gem.

Burning Crusade members don't run away when on low health, which makes this quest much easier. Wait until they're on about 10% health then cast this on them.

You cannot use the Burning Gem on non-Burning Crusade targets. If you try, it will say "Invalid target."

You can gain more than 15 Infused Burning Gems, and they stack in lots of 20. But there's not much point in getting more than the 15 you need. You cannot trade quest items to anybody, even others who are doing the quest.

===========

Other Horde quests at Thunder Axe Fortress:
Hand of Iruxos (From Shadowprey Village involves fighting a level ~37 mob)
Sceptre of Light (From a man below the Ethel Rethor tower involves fighting a level Burning Blade Seer and a Burning Blade Augur beside him)

===========

I solo'd this as a lvl33 Tauren Shaman.
If you're playing as a shaman, when you're vsing an Augur, don't forget to save your Earth Shock for when they're casting Shadow Bolt. You can use Earth Shock to interrupt their casting and put that spell out of commission for a few seconds.

I know of two spots in Desolace where you can get Burning Blade mobs. Is this only for the low level ones at Thunderaxe Fortress, or am I able to kill the ones at Shadowbreak Ravine?

I got the quest from the guy in Desolace but no burning gem in my inventory! Is this some glitch?

Special attacks seem to negate the burning gem effect. So just use normal melee near death.

How do you get this quest? Neither NPC for Alliance Relations or this one seems to offer it (they aren't clickable). I'm level 39 Horde.
