Call of Fire

Bring the Torch of the Dormant Flame to Telf Joolam in Durotar.
Torch of the Dormant Flame
Provided Item:
Torch of the Dormant Flame

Description

You are powerful enough to wield the totem of fire, but that does not mean you are ready.

Along the Southfury River in Durotar, before the Great Sea, lies a hidden trail to one of the highest peaks in the land. Find your way to the top and you shall find one of our holy shrines watched over by Telf Joolam--the Shrine of the Dormant Flame.

Take this torch to him--it marks that you attempt to tame fire. Return it to me aflame by the brazier at the shrine and I will see you are given the totem of fire.

The crappy set up for this quest forced me to dedicate better than 2 hours in its completion, so I hope this information serves to save each of you time and energy. The guy you need is tough to find but follow these directions and you won't go wrong:

Follow the river on the western edge of Durotar until you hit a rock wall that would force you into the water if you tried to go any further. Once you're at that rock wall you look up a bit and you'll find a rectangular gray stone with symbolic markings. Next to that large stone is a faint trail that winds through the mountain to the top where you'll find the NPC you need.

Once you find the NPC he'll tell you to get two items. The fire tar drops from Razormane quillboar which can be found southeast of the camp. The second item is a pouch that drops from the Burning Blade Cultists (and only the cultists). These guys were tough to find as well, so the key is to go due east out of Razor hill, and then immediately turn north. Do not go into the ravine. Do not take the trail north to orc city. You have to stay up above the ravine, and you will see the cave where the cultists (an others) reside.

Keep running south along the waters edge (On Durotars side) after crossing the bridge.&nbsp Eventually you'll see the mountains and there will be a small path leading up marked by a square black stone.&nbsp Follow the path - which can get quite small and difficult to see - until you reach the top.

Ok, finally found it. See the map where it shows where he is? Good, now throw it out - it has nothing to do with where the *path* is to get to him.

Go into Duratar. Follow the river south. When you come to a mountain range, head east along the edge of the mountains... you'll find a path leading upwards. Location is 36, 57

For all of those that are confused-
Telf Joolam is in Durotar, not The Barrens. To get access to him, you follow the road leaving Durotar into The Barrens, but taker a left instead of crossing the bridge. Keeping running until you a small black rock at the foot of a mountain, around 36, 57. Follow the windy path up the mountain and talk to Telf, who is at 38, 58.

I dont know why everyone makes it that complicated. i think this will be easier to understand: Follow the road to the west out of razor hill untill you reach the bridge to the barrens. Instead of walking over the bridge, walk left until you see a black rock on a mountain. follow the rock up the mountain.

OK heres how I got to him... as you cross the bridge into durotar immediately follow the river south.&nbsp Just as it turns into mountains look slightly upward and left for the small grey stone with the flame on it, there is a very narrow path up here that almost doesnt look traversable, but is, (careful not to fall, it hurts =p ) all the way up bear right and he's there.&nbsp There will be razorfens left of the path as well to mark the spot to climb.&nbsp Hope this helps.

Like all the other people are saying, when you come to a bridge that connects the Barrens to the Durotar, go across it, make a quick right turn and travel along the river so you should be traveling south on the map.

Now, you should be coming to a point in which the mountains to the left merge with the river. Keep going til you reach that point.&nbsp You should see a winding path with a large tan mountain on the left and a small black pillar that should look like a rectangular prism with symbols engraved on it on the right. (No, it does not look like a large fat black rock.)

Next, follow the narrow winding path to find the troll named Telf Joolam, and present your quest to him.

Once you speak to the person he will tell you to Find the Shrine. To get to the Shrine go to the bridge to Durotar. Cross the bridge over the river and turn south. Follow the river south and will will come to a Mtn. Range. You will know this is the path because of a small black stone on the right of the path. Follow the path to NOC you need to speak to. He will give you the next chain in the quest. Here is some Advice. When looking up quest on thottbot please make sure you follow the steps (if it is a chain quest!) also make sure you pick the right area. Shammys can be Tauren, Orcs and so on. So please make sure you click on the description that is right for you. Any Questions please feel free to Email me at RickHammondJr@Gmail.com.
Hope this helps.
P.S. if you are using a UI (User Interface) then the cords. are 3657 to the start of the path. I am using Cosmos.

Well, to make it the most obvious thing is that when u are first going to The Barrens from durator instead of crossing the bridge just take a left and the path will immedialty begin once u hit the mountains you will see a black stone and that will mark the beggining of the trail, path starts at 36, 57

If you're afraid of heights, just be prepared that this is going to freak you out a bit.&nbsp The pathway up is really thin at times, and makes some unexpected turns, with a sheer drop to one side.&nbsp The path is also sometimes hard to distinguish from the ground below, because it's all the same color.&nbsp O_O

ETA-- Tip: hit your / key so that you can walk up and down the path, instead of running.&nbsp Makes for a much less nerve-wracking experience.

As I am too lazy to get the plug-in (just yet) or post a question and wait for a response I'll just give it simple:&nbsp The path begins at the northermost point of the MOUNTAIN RANGE surrounding the Valley of Trials and the Southfurry River.&nbsp The path begins where the mountains meet THE BANK of the river at its most northern point.&nbsp Hug the mountain as you follow the path and bam!

To find the shrine, travel back east across the bridge leading over the Southfury River. From here continue south til you see a tall mountain bordering the Valley of Trials on your map. Look for a narrow path winding around the mountain side leading to the top. Almost at the top.

The hidden path is easy to find as it is the same path as call of earth totem.

But this hidden path leads to spirit rock. I cannot find any other way for the path to go other than this and these coordinates start at 41 not 38.

Please can someone give me directions from the stone at spirit rock (call of earth place).

Thanks

Seriously, it says in the quest text Along the Southfury River in Durotar, before the Great Sea... Seeing as how there's only sea in one direction along Southfury Rover, it should be pretty obvious that you follow the river south, and on the Durotar side. The path is just a little way along from the bridge that you almost certainly just crossed over, and if you can't spot the glaringly obvious path in the mountain (helpfully marked with a big freaking rock) then you need to get your eyes checked...

To my right (I'm facing Southish) is the bridge into Durotar (as you can see in my minimap). Circled in red is the path. You can go directly to it. Try not to go too far west. Be wary of raptors, scorpions, and crocolisks. When you get close to it, you should see the dark blue tablet pointed out in the screenshot. Follow the trail up around the mountain. It's narrow, so be careful not to fall off.

You don't find the reagent pouch in Skull Rock.&nbsp You find it going northeast of Razor Hill and up the hill onto a plateu bordering the path to Ogrimmar.&nbsp There is a mini-tunnel there full of Burning Blade CULTISTS.&nbsp These are the guys you need to kill, not the fanatics at Skull Rock.

You get the fire tar from Razormane Geomancers at Thorn Hill in the Barrens.

Where is this hidden temple? I went to where the quest told me, and nearly got eaten by an aligator. I found a "hidden path" but following it lead to a stone pillar with a rune on it, but no NPC and no temple. I went all around that whole rock, and nothing.

Finally got it. The thing that tripped me up is that the path appears to be a drop off around a curve. More of a camera control issue than anything else. You start up at the place near the river where the pillar is, right close to the river. - a couple of earlier posts had me looking farther to the east.

i agree people loc cord are vital, it took me a while wandering in the valley of trials, i realized you cant get to the nps, you have to go 36, 57... then just follow the path, the first person who found it should have listed where the path began.
