The Tome of Valor

Speak to Duthorian Rall in Stormwind.
Provided Item:
Tome of Valor

Description

Valor, and all the virtues that go along with it, are like rare minerals: you must cherish them when you find them because of their value, but you must also take time to harvest them... refine them. When mixed together properly, a strong alloy is formed, sometimes unbreakable by even the most powerful blows.

This strength, your faith, your bravery, must be tested. You must learn to never lose faith and realize that with the power of the Light, you can overcome things that most others cannot.

- At lvl 20 Speak to Duthorian Rall in SW (cathedral of light loc 39.29)

- Recieve Tome of Valor in inventory

- Read the tome and accept quest

- Speak to Duthorian Rall again , recieve quest
&nbsp The Tome of Valor

- Find Daphne Stilwell in Westfall
&nbsp House is located north of the Dead Mines exit in
&nbsp Dagger Hills. loc 41,88 ( it is possible to do this part of the quest at lvl 20 if you have really good gear and pots but you will not fail if you bring one friend of any class 18+)

- Return to Duthurian Rall SW

- Speak to DR again for Test of Righteousness

- Go to IF and find Jordan Stillwell
&nbsp loc 52,36 outside IF gates
- Speak to Jordan again and recieve quest

This is the rest of the steps posted by another person. It explains it well enough.

After the Tome of Valor is complete, Daphne tells you to speak to Dunthorian Rall, who tells you to speak to Jordan Stillwell who is outside the gates of Ironforge. This starts The Test of Righteousness quest. Jordan tells you he will make you a great weapon if you bring him 4 items. He gives you a note that tells you where to find these items. The items are: 1) Whitestone lumber, 2) Jordans Refined Ore, 3) Jordans Smithing Hammer, 4) Purified Kor Gem

1) Whitestone Lumber

This is the only part that I didnt do solo. The lumber drops off of the goblin woodcarvers in the Deadmines instanced dungeon in Moonbrook. I got mine early in the Mast Room, but it will drop off a goblin eventually. Just dont be a jerk and abandon your group after you get the lumber unless youve told them that you will do so beforehandBe aware that I think the lumber will drop if you have the Tome of Valor active but you dont know that you need it yet! I seem to remember selling the lumber earlier after I did the Deadmines for the first time, so save it!

2) Jordans Refined Ore

Go to Loch Modan and speak to Bailor Stonehand in Thelsamar. Bailor is in one of the houses in Thelsamar proper.(loc 36,44) He tells you to go to the Mo'grosh Stronghold and get Jordan's Ore Shipment. The Mo'grosh Stronghold is located in Loch Modan in the northeast corner of the map. Jordan's Ore Shipment is located in the middle of the areas where the orgres are, near a broken wagon, behind a large tree.(loc 71,21) Its located OUTSIDE of the caves and dungeons, so dont bother going inside any caves looking for it (like I did!). The ogres are pretty easy to solo, and many of them may already be dead if you do this quest during peak playing times when other players are around. This is the easiest of the quests to do quicklyit shouldnt take you more than 5-10 minutes. Bring Jordan's Ore Shipment to Bailor Stonehand and he will give you Jordans Refined Oredone!

3) Jordans Smithing Hammer

Oh lordthis is a tough one, but it can still be done solo with patience, but if you can find another pally to do this with it will make your life MUCH easier (but on my server I could never seem to find one). I did this solo, so these instructions describe how I did it alone.

You dont need to speak to an NPC for this one, just travel to Silverpine Forest. Shadowfang Keep is located just north of Pyrewood Village in Silverpine. Getting to Silverpine is tough if you havent already discovered a griffon route to Southshore. The easiest way is to take a griffon to Southshore in Hilsbrad and then walk west into Silverpine. Alternatively, you can take a griffon to the Wetlands and walk north into Arathi Highlands, west into Hilsbrad, then west into Silverpine. Youll need to dodge some level 35 mobs along the way, stick to the roads and you should be OK.

Shadowfang Keep is a horde instance with horde quests, and youll often see horde in queue waiting to enterhopefully they wont gank a lone pallybut dont count on it, so move quickly.

Once youre in the instance youll notice a large gate in front of you that is closed. Youll need to enter via door on the right, which has a room with two mobs, a Shadowfang Wolfguard and a Wolfguard Worg. These are the two mobs youll most likely encounter in this instanceand they tend to travel in pairs, and are very hard to aggro alone (dont you hate it that we dont have long range pulling ability!), most likely youll aggro them both. Just run to the area in front of the exit from the instance and stop. Then concentrate on killing ONLY 1 of the mobs while the other wails on you. Hopefully you can kill one of the mobs before dying, then exit the instance and heal and wait for mana regen. Then re-enter the instance and kill the second mob. This is the technique I used for this whole instance 1) Aggro 2 mobs 2) Run to exit of instance 3) Kill one mob 4) Exit instance 5) Heal and regen 6) re-enter instance 7) Kill second mob 8) Rinse and repeat!

Once youve killed the Wolfguard and Worg in the room on the right, go up the stairs and use the above techniques to kill the rest of the mobs on the landings, just remember to run to the instance exit once youve aggrod them. I died a few times doing this anyway, and its a long corpse runvery frustrating.

Once youve climbed the stairs and landings youll come to a long hallway, at the end of the hallway is a room on the left with more Wolfguards and Worgs, on your right is a locked door (more on that in a minute). Take a minute to look behind you. Once you aggro the next group of mobs, youll be running down this hallway to get to the instance exit, instead of taking the stairs, jump over the railing onto the first landing, then run to the opening in the railing to fall onto the second landing, then turn right and jump over the railing to enter the first room you entered, turn right to get to the instance exit. Practice doing this a few times without having mobs chasing you. If you do this well itll prevent excess damage while running away to the instance exit and give you a few extra seconds to heal etc. once you get there.

Ok, once youve turned left at the end of the hall and killed the mobs in that room, go down the stairs, into the jail room. There will be a few worgs and wolguards here, draw them out, two at a time, to the instance exit as described above. In addition, youll find the boss of this area, Rethigore, in the jail room as well. Try NOT to pull Rethilgore with both a worg and a wolfguard, or else youll probably die. However, I was able to kill Rethilgore and one wolfguard at the instance exit pretty easily.

OK..now open the middle jail cell and speak to the NPC there. Follow him and he will open the door at the end of the hall letting you into the courtyard behind the gate you saw when you first entered the instance. From the open door there are stairs going down into a courtyard with a TON of mobs in it. THE STABLES ARE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOU ACROSS THE COURTYARD, YOU WILL ENTER THE STABLES USING THE LEFT SIDED ENTRANCE AND JORDANS SMITHING HAMMER IS SITTING ON A BOX ON THE RIGHT JUST INSIDE THE ENTRANCE TO THE STABLES.

Now, there are some people who say you can just shield and run into the stables, grab the hammer, and run out, but I was never able to do this. It takes a while for you to grab the hammer as its just like opening a chestwith about a 4-6 second delay. My shield always ran out before I got the hammer, but mines only speced for 8 secs, so if you have a longer Divine Shield you may be able to do it

Instead I went down the stairs and stayed close to the wall/gate on the left and pulled mobs out to the instance exit as described above. Theres a new mob here, the Haunted Servitor. Theyre not hard to kill, but they will haunt you if they get the chance, which means a ghost with about 50 hp will appear and attack you every minute for about 5 minutes. Its annoying as theyre easy to kill, but try to pull mobs right after you kill a ghost so they dont get in the way.

Just stay to the far left and just pull those mobs that are between you and the left stable entrance, only pull two at a time, max. Once the way is clear youll be tempted to run into the stables and grab the hammer, but once you enter the stables, another Haunted Servitor will jump from above and attack you, just run back up the stairs to the hallway and kill itTHEN go and grab the hammer! Success! Whew that was a pain!

4) Purified Kor Gem

Travel to Auberdine via a boat in Menethil Harbor and speak to Thundris Windweaver in Auberdine, Thundris is located in a house in Auberdine, hes looking out over the water. He will give you the quest for Seeking the Kor Gem. Remember, you MUST speak to Thundris and get the quest, or the Kor Gem will never drop! Thundris tells you do not go alone and thats probably good advice, but you can do this solo (I did). Travel south in Darkshore, then continue south in Ashenvale, once you enter Ashenvale, turn west, then north and enter the Zoram Strand, there you will find the entrance to the Blackfathom Deeps.

Jump down into the deeps, then swim to enter some caves. Note: at the end of these caves is an entrance to the instanced dungeon YOU DO NOT NEED TO ENTER THE INSTANCE TO GET THE CORRUPTED KOR GEM, although it will drop in the instance, as well as in the caves that precede the instance. The Corrupted Kor Gem will drop from Blackfathom Oracles, Blackfathom Tide Priestess, (it will drop from Blackfathom Sea Witchs as well within the instance). These creatures look like mermaids and theyre found in the caves before the instance entrance. There are also stealthed stayrs in these caves, you probably cant take on more than two oracles/satyrs at a time, so be careful with your pulls. You can try to do this part during busy times on the server, as itll let you get farther into the caves, with the downside of having more competition for Oracles and Tide Pristesess.

Alternatively, you can camp at the entrance to the caves and just kill Oracles and Tide Priestess until the Corrupted Kor Gem drops. You can get another quest Researching the Corruption from Gershala Nightwhisper in Auberdine who wants 8 Corrupted Brainstems, which you can get here as well, making it a two for one. In my case the Corrupted Kor Gem dropped after killing about 10 oracles, but Ive heard of it taking moore. Its easiest to do this with a pickup group in the caves, but not necessary.

Once you have the Corrupted Kor Gem, speak to Thundris Windweaver and hell give you a Purified Kor Gem.

Well youre done! Go back to Ironforge and speak with Jordan Stillwell, hell tell you to wait, and youll get the awesome Verigans Fist for all your hard work. Hope this helps!

This is the start of an important step for Paladins of the Alliance.

You must Speak with Duthorian Rall and he will give you the Tome of Valor. Read the book and he will give you the next quest. The next step is to go to Daphne Stillwell in Westfall. (http://classicdb.ch/?npc=6182)

To get to her you have to go West towards the shore and past Daggerhills. This is the pass in the mountains where you had to kill a bunch of Defias. You have to go up to the exit of the Deadmines and go passed it until you see a house down a slope. Daphne is in the small field in front of the house.

You will have to defend her against waves of Defias. It can be soloed pretty easily, heal Daphne to keep her alive while you dispatch the Defias.

Upon completion, return to Stormwind to the trainer and you will receive your ability to Sense Undead and the shield Bastion of Stormwind (http://classicdb.ch/?item=9607)

The paladin trainer will then instruct you to go to Jordan Stilwell. He is at the Gates of Ironforge (52,36). He will give you the quest The test of righteousness (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=1653)

This quest is putting you on the path of an important Blue two handed Mace that Paladins can use for a long time. A great boost to all Paladins and highly recommended to invest the time to get it.

well there seems to be a little bit of confusion and i cbf reading all the posts above so heres wat i did
first of all....you must have completed the previous quests ie. the one where you have to protect that chick in westfall froim the waves of defias
then you get this quest
i did this at lvl 22 or something with another paladin
so first:
loch modan...if you haven't been there then your silly but yes its in mo'grosh stronghold IT IS NOT A DROP so killing everything will get you nothing but xp and prove the soloing ownage of the paladin but thats a different story
it is a CRATE near a tree in the middle area of the compound (i think can't recall precisely) so just mouse over anything, it is a brown box so just search around and you'll find it, this is probably the bit people have most trouble with so dont stress, maybe do the chok sul and mercenaries quests from town while you're at it

then off we go to deadmines
groups are easy as hell to get so yeah just get one and either go for the whole thing if you need items or drop out after the goblins, it dropped first goblin for me so yeah not hard to get at all

then shadowfang keep
this is the biggest #$%^& to get to coz you'll most likely have to run all the way from loch modan or menethil harbour(this is when num lock for auto run is useful)
anyway run along and either have another paladin like me or if you're extra lucky find a hunter friend lvl 40 or above who can aspect of the pack and protect you to get there a helluva lot easier :)and faster
or you can get a shadowfang group obviously and its impossible to go wrong to get there although i've been there once and it was very confusing after the courtyard with the hammer
so yeah get ur way to shadowfang (in tirisfal glades for all you who dont know) and go foward, rescue some mage guy and into the courtyard where excorcism comes in handy :)
and its in the stables
if you have a high lvl friend or a group kill the horses to get a 10 slot bag but dont otherwise
on a crate, theres a screenshot of where it is somewhere around so yeah easy as pie

blackfathom deeps or w/e
easy to get to..menethil: should have been there by now so take the boat (right pier) and then to auberdine
then get down into ashenvale (south) and after you enter make a right or west (coz ur coming from the north) when u can and u will find a path like thing
its easy enough to get to, just ask some of the locals if you're having difficulty
and from recollection there is a quest in auberdine which gets you some nice mail bracers which is very easy to do so thats a good pickup
so yeah just kill some things in outside the instance and it should drop
and before you head off make sure you get the quest from the guy in the house just left of the inn where the pier goes into so you can get the gem lol and return it once found to get it enchanted
then back to ironforge with an excited expression and get your very brand new nice ownage weapon and then get it replaced in gnomer :)
best weapon in the game considering its level, nothing at that stage can beat it i dont think
so yeah thats about it
if you wanna start a paladin go on stormreaver and whisper Arantalin (thats me) of Sorrow (great tabard) and ill come and help you grow into a nice big paladin who kills lots of smelly horde
happy hunting
pallies ftw!

Tried soloing at lvl 20 and failed the first time. Figured I'd give it one more shot before calling it quits and succeeded the 2nd time. The mobs re lvl 17-18 and the first mob has 3 followed by 4 then 5. It's tricky but possible. You have to keep the attacks off of her so use concecration and righteous fury to maximize threat. Also buff her. I used Blessing of Kings on both of us. The first two mobs should be easy just make sure u drink and eat/heal after each mob. If your health gets low use divine protection and heal yourself but make sure to use consecration immediatley after otherwise they will all attack her and kill her. Awesome sheild as reward :)

If you fail just wait around at the house til she respawns and she should regive quest. I didn't have to abandon anything just wait.

The xp from this quest appears to scale with level.

At level 62, upon going back to SW to train, i noticed that this quest still showed a yellow "!" over the npc's head. I was in a rush to lvl to 70, so didn't bother with this quest at the appropriate level. With an epic mount, and Crusader Aura, the run through Westfall didn't seem like a daunting task, so I went.

Turning in this stage of the quest to the NPC in westfall rewarded 10,050 xp (at lvl 62)
After defending her (with a consecrate per wave of mobs) turning it in yielded 5,000 xp.
Turning the next part in to the NPC in SW rewarded 12,600 xp (as well as the Sense Undead skill).
The followup quest to speak with the NPC in IF was also yellow, so I did it, yielding another 5,000 XP.

The next part, which involves gathering mats from instances, was finally grey in my quest log, so I dropped it, as I didn't have much use for the blue mace at lvl 62.

Overall, 32,600 xp at lvl 62, just for a few minutes of running around, and I didn't miss the sense undead ability once during leveling.

OK, if you fail the Daphne portion of the quest (which I did 3 times), abandon it then wait for Daphne to give the quest to you again.&nbsp SHE is the quest giver for this portion of the quest not Rail, he just sets you on the path.&nbsp DO NOT run back to SW to try to get the quest again.&nbsp I did this with a lvl 23 Paly carrying an executioner's sword (I got it from the weaponsmith in Menethil Harbor) and added a +5 damage enchant.&nbsp 300+ crit takes them down quick.&nbsp However, if you do not have a weapon like this then I would suggest getting a lvl 20+ of any class to help ya out.

I was waiting for a friend to do this today and by the time she finally got there and everything was set up, nothing happened.&nbsp I just talked to the lady and she said "Thank you, you are so brave etc. etc."
