47,22 (East of Venture Co. Base Camp) is a great area for these panthers. One catch - its the most dangerous area I have ever been in. I was a rogue, so I sneaked around stuff, but I pity any non stealthed character. You have two 42 Elite ogres wandering infront of you if you come in from the south/Venture base camp. On the other side (further south of the desired area), you have a good number of jungle thunderers which pack quite a punch and are fairly close together. Not good enough? North of that, you have 39+ NPC trolls, and some more elite ogres. Bad enough? It gets better. I noticed a good number of mounts going through the area, horde and alliance, and the elite panther you need to kill for the next quest occasionally wanders into that area (I think its caused by killing all the panthers in the area). Oh, by the way, you'd be better off not taking any roads to get there. You have no idea how many alliance got absolutely owned by these ogres. Fun to watch, though :D.

The panthers are near the trees of that area. Stealthed. I counted about 5-6 in that area. There are no panthers near the thunderers. And this quest also spills over to another Horde quest in Grom Gol where you collect fangs. Enjoy!

These panthers can stealth, so they're a big pain to track down, especially so if you're sitting about the same level as them and your stealth detection kicks in at just about aggro range.

There's two main areas of them, but they're pretty spread out. Try East of the main road, just as you cross the second bridge heading south, around 47, 23. Another good place is along the main road just North of the Gurubashi Arena just head off either side of the road and see if any pop up. From about 37, 44 to 40, 34.

These are really spread out, but generally stick close to the main roads. They're stealthed, so you need to be almost on top of them to see them. If you're not a hunter who can track beasts, then just set a macro to /target Shadowmaw and spam the hell out of it as you walk a few feet off the side of the road.

As far as I've explored, I've never found a cluster of them exclusively, so be patient and prepare for a lot of walking.

I found these panthers in the same place as the Jungle Stalker Raptors of this q:
https://classicdb.ch/?quest=196

Coords: 32, 37

Just near and around the coast.

I posted a screenshot of the area too. The pic just needs to be approved to show up.

These are the spots I found all ten. Took me 5 minutes on lvl 35 warrior. Piece of cake.

(40,41), (40,40)x2, (41,40)x2, (40,43), (40,42), (41,41)x2, (42,38)

Just listen when they go shadow and you'll know you're near them. Run around and you'll see and hear them.

Startthyas nails the location well. Something to be aware of is these are rogue types, so you don't really find them, they find you. We just kind of moved around the area killing Jungle Thunderers and Stranglethorn Tigresses while waiting for a Shadowmaw to pop on us.

I've found most in the area between (45,25) and (46,28). Where I also found Bag'thera. If you only see lots of Tigresses, then kill them. They take up spots where Panthers can be, and it seems that they switch between spawning.

47,22 (East of Venture Co. Base Camp) Is where I hunted, and it was NOT that dangerous. Sure there are dangers, and you have to make sure not to go near the ogres, but it's not the worst area. I solo'd this quest as a lvl 36 warlock with a voidwalker. THe pantehrs are level 38, and while there are Tigresses all over, just learn to take them on one at a time. I noticed using perception every now and then helped me to detect the stealthed Panthers.

As for getting into the area, just walk along the southern edges of the Venture co. camp then walk up onto the ridge, not into the deep valley of the ogres, but right next to it. I killed two goblins on the way in, and one on the way out, and no one was farming for the crystals on them.

Only took me about 30 mins, they spawned quick enough.

Should definitely be done with [38] Mok'thardin's Enchantment because most of the Shadowmaw Panthers and Stranglethorn Tigresses are found in the same areas.

Did this mostly at 46,28.

keep in mind these are stealthed, so you have to actually pace back and forth looking for them. they're level 37-38, so if you're not at least that level they're going to be harder to find unless you're right on top of them.

i had good luck just se of the venture co. area. it took awhile, but there's enough things in the area to kill while you wait on spawns.

you can also do "mok'thardin's enchantment" at the same time ^^

Around 46,28. The panthers and tigers share the spawn points. Kill some tigers if you can't find them 50% change there will be a panther next time.

Se'Jib is overlooking a bunch of them.

Create a macro that says: /target Shadowmaw and hit it repeatedly as you walk around the trees between 36,36 and 36, 38.

Can do quest with: 1) Mok'thardin's Enchantment (if you do, don't forget to kill the orange tigers too for the pristine drop).

The Shadowmaw Panthers may be found around 39, 38. For those who don't have cosmos or something to give them coordinates, you will find them northeast of the&nbsp arena, west of the Ziata'Jai Ruins, very slightly southwest of them in fact. On a side note, this is also the general area to find the Stranglethorn Tigresses and the elite Tiger King Bang something or other. Hope this helps someone.

Catseye Elixir helps (and is very cheap on my server). You can generally see them before you reach aggro range with the elixir (and 1-2 levels below the cats) if you don't like using yourself as bait.

This is a true testiment of patience. It's easiest with a hunter along who has tracking abilities...in fact, hard as heck without one! I found that just hanging out at 47.23 was the perfect place to find them....there are 3 that spawn in that area. Stay away from the Venture Mining guys, but hang out on the little ridge area there and let them come to you. When you kill all 3 that spawn there, wait for them to respawn. Took me about an hour just hanging out with my lvl 40 hunter, but eventually, they all came out to play.

the way im thinking while doing this Q is:

If u see a large open field with no mobbs, there is a high possibility that there are som shadowmaws there...

That is...in the 2 main sonez for the shadowmaw's ( 47, 23 and 37, 44 )

I tended to find a lot of them surrounding the hill where King Bangalash (the 43 elite tiger) pats around. The hill is southeast of the horde camp Grom'gol, across the river and past the little hut where the troll leatherworking trainer is. Just roam around the hill while spamming the /target shadowmaw macro and you'll find a bunch of them.

If you're a Warlock (lvl 42+): summon your Felhunter for the Paranoia buff and put it on aggressive.

If you're a Hunter: Use "Track Hidden" and put your pet on aggressive.

Then walk the area where the Panthers spawn and your pet will attack them as soon as you get close to one.

There's no need for a targetting macro in these cases.

I found a spot around 36, 36. It's just off the coast, and a short walk/swim from Grom'gol Base Camp (and in sight of Se'jib, the Tribal Leatherworking Trainer, just south of there).

There's a little open area hemmed in by trees and populated by Stranglethorn Tigers, and within this place at least 1-2 stealthed Shadowmaw Panthers spawn and patrol (in what I think is a clockwise patrol).

This may not be the best place, but it has a few advantages:
  • Close to Grom'gol Base Camp
  • Good place to grind Tigers for XP
  • One panther will pop up periodically
These factors combined I think make it a good spot. You can spend less time aimlessly questing after these animals, and more time actually leveling while still completing this quest, as well as Mok'thardin's Enchantment.

Just did this quest about 6 hours ago. Took me about 10 mins to get all the 10 shadow panther.

Travel north along the road from booty bay. once u reach the point where the "Balia'mah Ruins" is to your right. Stop.

The panthers are just on the 2 sides of the road. They are stealthed. But be prepared.... during the fighting some of the panthers will respawn and sometime you will end up fighting about 3 of them at one time.

what an annoying quest seriously...that sound tip is a great idea though. turn your sound way up and just walk around and wait for the stealth noise. usually this means they will be right on you but thats fine because the tigresses dont wander much and aggroing a bunch if fairly difficult.

Thanks for coords 49,22, they're great! I am damn lucker, because i got the Pristine Tigress Fang after five kills. Whole quest done in 10 mins. Listening is useless and tedious. I zoomed out maximally, then were slowly walking around the coords and looking for darker spots. 10 MINUTES!

The best place to hunt these are on the other side of the river, east of Grom'gol. The key is to listen. A stealth sounding noise can be heard when they are near when you hear it, stop walking and look around because one is nearby. Look for an object slightly darker than the background, which can be hard to see unless it's moving. Sometimes they'll attack first but I had no problem with a lv 36 warlock.

I recommend doing this at the same time as the Mok'thardin Enchantment quest since you're killing Shadowmaws for both and the Pristine Tigress Fang drops there too.
