Filled Containment Coffer (3)
Chest of Containment Coffers
Cantation of Manifestation

Description

A disturbance has been reported at the Blue Recluse tavern in the Mage Quarter. Strange, invisible creatures now wander the tavern, and I fear a mana rift has formed there.

I want you to investigate the tavern and capture those creatures. Use the cantation of manifestation in the tavern to make the creatures visible, subdue them then use a containment coffer to capture them. When you have enough, return to me with your filled coffers, your empty coffers and the cantation.

Ok here is what I find.. Putting in time to figure this out.&nbsp No its not a bug but requires patiences, talk to the Jennea Cannon for the quest - Investigate the Blue Recluse quest.

1. Get the Cantation of Manifestation &&nbsp Chest of Containment Coffers (10 charges) from the table behind her.

2. So soon you get out of the mage tower, jump down and you will see 'Blue Recluse' inn, go in then go to the basement.

3. Use your Cantation of Manifestation (Its a 5 minute timer between the spawn each time you use it.) - It does not matter how you hurt it, just beat it down until you see the spiral on its head.

4. Use the Chest of Containment Coffers once the riff is stunned (spirl on its head), then it will say - 'Rift Spawn is sucked into the coffers', then as soon its gone, click on the coffers and it will then be in your inventory.

5. Repeat/Rinse #3 5 minutes later until you get 3 necessary coffers, then you're done..

Good luck..

found out how to do this with single rift spawns every time....

use the cantantion in the basement, kill the spawn and trap him

go to the kitchen and stand in the fireplace use the cantantion again kill the spawn and trap him.

and finally go into the main room, and go under the stairs, use the cantantion again then kill the spawn and trap him,

very easy as a 16 mage

As a previous poster said, start in the basement, all the way down.&nbsp You'll only get one.

Next, stand by the chef in the kitchen.&nbsp One should spawn right by the fire.

Finally, go to the top of the stairs in the common room.&nbsp Stand in the middle of the balcony and summon again.&nbsp You'll only get one.

If you use the scroll in the common room or inside the front door, you're screwed.&nbsp Be careful and it's easy to solo at 16.

This may have broken in the last patch. I get a message that the Rift Spawn is sucked into the coffer but no coffer to pick up after. There is briefly something there with a gear activation icon but right or left clicking on it doesn't do anything.

ok... if you stay on the main floor and use the cantation you're going to get Pwned. Deal with the first one alone.

Go to the basement and use the cantation which will only summon one. once you've done this, kill the sucker, use your chest of containment coffers and finally click on the filled containment coffer.

Go to the main floor and you should be able to handle the two remaining.

This comment may seem redundant, but I just wanted to clear up and verify the information from previous comments. I just followed these steps today (Aug 26, 2007). When I read all of the comments here, I got a little confused. Hopefully this will help. If not, feel free to rate it down.

Basically, as soon as you take the quest, grab one of the lunchbox-looking things (Chest of Containment Coffers) and one of the scrolls (Cantation of Manifestation) from the table next to Jennea Cannon.

Head to the Blue Recluse (approximately at 38,84). If you're entering the Mage Quarter from the Trade District and you take the southern path inside the quarter after the tunnel, it should be the first building on your left. But, you'll probably be heading there from the Mage's Tower, so as soon as you get outside, jump off the right side and you should see the building.

Then, follow the advice of adders666 (six posts above this one). I followed his instructions and it worked perfectly. To reiterate, summon the first one in the basement, then go up the stairs and summon from within the fireplace, then go into the main room and go under one of the staircases to summon. For each summon, once you've stunned the creature, use the Chest of Containment Coffers. This will throw a coffer onto the ground and the creature will become trapped in it. Pick up the coffer once it's filled. Do this for each creature. Once you have three of them, head back to Jennea.

I went to the basement, and just 1 summoned, which was easy to kill and contain. Then I went to the main floor and summoned and 3 showed up, promptly kicking my butt. I rezzed and came back, went to the basement and summoned 1 again - no problem, got it. Then I went up on the top floor and tried summoning. Three showed up again! So, I ran and at least didn't die. Then I got the brilliant idea to log out and log back in. Went to the basement and just 1 summoned.

So, I think you can go to the basement, get 1, log out and back in, and go to the basement and get 1 again. Much easier to handle as a mage than having 3 on you at once.

Okay, until Blizzard gets this thing fixed.. THERE IS A SOLUTION!

When fighting the Rifts... you have to make sure the kill shot is Frost Nova.&nbsp Once you stun them, apply the containment coffers.&nbsp The rift will get sucked in.. you will know it worked when it appears somewhat red.&nbsp Now just click on the little coffer and you will have it in your inventory.&nbsp Hope this helps.

I can confirm, after 5 unsuccessful attempts at killing the mob and then using Frost Nova I finally gained some patience. To get the 3 containers you need, you need to:

- Get the mob to around 5-6% (find the % by hovering your mouse over it's green health bar)

- KILL THE MOB ONCE IT IS AT 5-6% with FROST NOVA

- Immediately spring your trap, you should notice a red cyclone this time

- After the container is on the ground (DO NOT TOUCH IT BEFORE THIS) and the mob is gone, right click like you're using herbalism or whatever

Bingo, do this 3 times and you're off to the Loch on your next quest for your robe.

spawn and kill one in the basement.

spawn and kill one upstairs, i went all the way into the farthest corner from the stairs just to make sure i didn't spawn any additional Rifts.

for the third Rift i went into the kitchen (with the fireplace and Connor Rivers Apprentice Chef in it). i used the Cantation next to the fireplace to spawn the Rift, and only one came out.

lvl 16 when i did it. do not use the Cantation in the main area as you will get rushed by 3 Rifts.

It took me a while, but the quest isnt completely bugged, and it didn't require frost nova as a kill shot for me to capture them. First things first i dragged the contaiment box to one of my sidebars for quick access. Secondly i would start by nuking the thing with a fireball, then some arcane missles, etc. THen when he got down to like 3%hp, i just beat on him with my stick, and as soon as there was the spiral over his head i clicked the box and it worked. It took me a few trys till i got the first one. Then the rest were easy after that.
In overview i think the trick is to click the containment box as fast as you can after they are unconcious, you will know if you did it right because the containment coffer will have a red vortex come up out of it instead of a blue one

By Anonymous on 08/30/2006 (Patch 1.12.0)
Okay... Once I did the right steps this quest was super easy.
First - make sure you pick up the boxes and scrolls on the table to the left of her. You need to have these to do the quests.
Also, it is helpful to have these in a toolbar when you do the quest so you don't have to keep opening your bag.

NOW - Go ALL they way down into the basement. (Past the bartenders, past the chef, all the way to the wine cellar).
Do the incantation. "kill" the ghost by any means - frost nova, fire ball, arcane missles all work well. When he has a swirl above his head then you click the box.

Repeat this step on the next level up. Near the chef.

If you use the incantation right at the entrace 3 ghosts jump all over you. Not cool.

If you are having trouble, follow the instructions given by jiyongle, 2 comments above this one... but in addition:

Once inside the Blue Recluse, do the following to make things a little easier (I did this solo on a level 15 mage with the few quest greens I had received).
  1. Go to the very bottom basement level
  2. Move to the wall farthest from the stairs so anything you aggro from above won't make it to the stairs
  3. Use your scroll
  4. Kill the rift with a combination of your favorite damage spell and Frost Nova
  5. Use the coffer on the stunned rift
  6. Pick up the filled coffer
  7. Now, rather than heading back upstairs, use your scroll again right there
  8. Rinse and repeat until you have your other two
  9. Hang out for 2-3 minutes after your last rift, and the upstairs will despawn so you can exit safely.
    [/ol]

I found this quicker than moving around the place.

Here are some more details on completing the quest:

I got the quest at level 15.

The two required items are on the table behind
Jennea Cannon. One is a chest, and the other a
scroll. Make sure pick up both.

When you get to the tavern activate the
Cantation of Manifestation near the skeleton
near the entrance. You will see the ghosts
(it looks like an elemental) around the building.
They don't aggro and the ones I saw were levels
16-17. Kill them in normal combat.

Once they are down to 0 hp, they will sit there.
Activate the Chest of Containment Coffers. A
box will form beneath the mob and 'suck it in'.
You can then open that box and remove a filled
containment coffer which goes into your
inventory.

Not that you can't activate the Chest of
Containment Coffers from your hotkeys. You have
to do it from your open inventory. I failed to
capture the first one due to this.

I ran around the building to find these guys
(including one in the basement), so keep looking.
I also set off the Cantation of Manifestation
a few times. I don't know if it helped, but it
didn't hurt.

In the hall, after Cantation spell, there are already 5 mobs visible :)

Mobs are pretty strong, fight them with strongest power (Arcane Missles or Fireball). All mobs are yellow, thus don't worry about aggro.

When then mob reachs 0 hp, it's stunned. Now use the coffer quickly at the mob, and it looks now Ghostbusters parody... Funny quest indeed.

I have placed coffer in the actionbar, so you don't miss the mobs.

These are the things you have to do:

1.Go south east of the mage tower and down into The Blue Recluse witch looks like an inn.
2. Go down in the basement, where all the big barrels are.
3. Use your Cantation of Manifestation there and the mobs will appear.
4. Attack the mobs and get them down to 1% life and then use your box (Chest of Containtment Coffers) on then and then just right click the box as many thimes as it sais.
5. Loot it and take the red colored box that comes up in the loot window.

You aren't able to make the mobs visible (whit Cantation of Manifestation ) at once and you have to wait a couple of minutes ( :O )
So in the mean time, go have a cup of tea!
Rating: +3 [-] [+]
By Anonymous on 10/01/2006 (Patch 1.12.1)
The entrance to the inn is at 39,85.

It seems that 2 or 3 always spawn in the front, but only 1 spawns in either the upstairs or the basement. So if you avoid the front and only do it upstairs and in the basement you seemingly should only have to deal with one at a time.

use the coffer on him and then loot the little box thing that he is absorbed into...

go up stairs near the bar tender and use the manifestation again and 3 more will apear dont worrie they should be semi spread apart and are fairly weak

Collect a box and a scroll off the table behind Jennea Cannon.

Go to the Blue Recluse Tavern which is near the bottom of the ramp from the mage tower in Stormwind.

Ues the scroll and 3 elemental looking creatures will pop up. I used the scroll upstairs over the bar and 2 spawned there and 1 down below.

Kill one using whatever means you find appropriate. I fireballed mine. They die.

As soon as they die, have the box on your quick bar and use it. The box gets tossed ala Ghostbusters.

Use the thrown box. Watch animation. Use box again and you get 1 of the filled chests.

THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO GET AROUND THE BUG!

And I just did it last night after reading about how bugged this quest was. HERE IS THE SOLUTION!

As you are beating the rift spawn into submission, make sure that the FINAL BLOW DEALT is a FROST NOVA. Once you activate the Collection Coffer on him, you will see a RED whirlpool form and the COFFER will remain on the ground after the rift spawn has disappeared. Then open the "kicking" coffer like you would a Chest. Inside will be the Filled Containment Coffer.

REMEMBER! F R O S T N O V A is the key.

I found out that all you have to do is cast an AoE where one is standing and it will spawn already damaged. You don't even have to use the scroll. This just lets you get the first hit in. Just be sure that your where one is, try running around randomly casting AE. I would suggest the basement or kitchen.

I teamed up with another mage doing the quest. One of us would use the scroll, wait for them to get close, then one of us used Frost Nova. While they were frozen, we were out of range spamming Arcane Explosion. When they unfroze, the other person would use Frost Nova to freeze them again and we continued spamming Arcane Explosion.

To my knowledge, Frost Nova DOES NOT have to be the finishing blow.

To finish this quest you must do the Stunning/Subdueing blow with Frost Nova then use the container thing and a red whirlwind will come up and the coffer will shake you can then pick it up
