Chest of Containment Coffers
Cantation of Manifestation

Description

Algernon's alchemist shop in the Apothecarium is the locus of a strange disturbance. Invisible creatures, made solely of magic, wander the shop--there must be a reason, and we must find it!

Investigate the disturbance and capture those creatures. Take a chest of coffers and a scroll from behind me. Use the scroll at the shop to make the creatures visible, subdue them with your spells, then throw down a coffer to capture them. Return with the filled coffers, the empty coffers and the cantation.

How to solo:

Stay on the steps (top of the steps is fine) and right click on the scroll. One ghost will spawn closer to you than the others. Do your frost nova so you ONLY get one in the trap. Then run, the other 3 will follow you a very short way, then they will disappear.

As soon as they disappear, the 4th one (the one you trapped) will be after you. Kite it back to the store, and kill it there (easiest way is frost nova again inside the area, then blast it). Capture it in the containment coffer (by right clicking on the box in your stash), it will suck the spirit into the coffer, and you right click once more on the coffer on the floor.

Repeat twice more. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Just make sure you only trap one.

I found using the scroll to be just about an instant death at level 15/16, since all 3 or 4 elementals attack you at once. The best way to do the quest is to pull only one at a time, which is easy if you DON'T USE THE SCROLL.

Start between the alchemist shop and the bridge/moat. Inch closer to where Algernon (the shopkeeper) is standing, casting Arcane Explosion as you go. Eventually you will catch one of the Rift Spawns in the AOE, it'll aggro. Just do the standard mage thing - Fire Blast, Frost Nova, Ice Bolt, Fireball, Fire Blast again - quite easy when it's alone. Once it's stunned, throw down a coffer and you're 1/3.

Rinse and repeat.

(If you're unlucky and your AOE hits more elementals than you can handle, just drop a Frost Nova and run away. Or proceed to use one of the strategies outlined above.)

When you get this quest be sure to grab a chest of containment coffers and a Cantation of Manifestation from right next to the quest giver.

Go to the apothecary district and look for the expert alchemist and alchemy supplier and use the scroll to see the elementals. It can spawn 2-4 of these elementals so try to kite one away but be sure to bring it back to where they spawn in order to contain the stunned elemental.

Fight an elemental until it stops attacking, right click the box to capture it, open the box to collect the coffer.

Died the first time since four spawned on me and I got dazed twice/ if you're doing it slo I suggest kiting the one away.

Ok...so dont listen to all the of the other messages saying that they wont attack until you attack them...because they do no matter how far away you are...

1. Stand near the bridge right infront of the Alchemy shop and activate the encantion.

2. run on the bridge and only attack one of the things with your wand, fireball, blast but no AOE attacks...this is will cause the one to stay around and the others will dissapear.

3. Once the others are gone continue to attack the one that is left until you see that he is stunned...at that point activate the box and capture him. once you see a small silver container on the ground open it and grab the item

4. Then just do this two more times and you will be fine

Do Not hope to kill all of them at once because it cannot be done UNLESS you have someone helping you...which you really dont

After spending 10+ silver on just repairing my armor from dying so much here, I finally figured it out.

The key is EVASION of the critters, not over powering them. If you stand anywhere in close proximity, they murder you. It turns out you can "reveal" them from quite far away.

The key is using something (I used the stair ending forming a "T" coming from across the canals) as a "trap" to get only one on you. Stand on the steps and RC the scroll.. When they spawn and come after you in close proximity, run across the other side and into the room.. For me only one followed each time. You MAY have to experiment.

The exact way you do this will depend on where the critters are found.. they apparently can appear in several places in&nbsp the apothecarium depending on how the spawn is for your particular instance. Non-the-less, find a convolution you can use as the trap for you if its not in the main room.

Then using whichever spells and freezes you like, finish it off. They were always lvl 17 for me but it apparently can vary a bit. They don't exactly die, they just sort of sit there (watch the life bar). When it is finished and stationary and with the critter still targeted, right-click the crate-looking "ehest" and a "time lapse" bar moves left-to-right and a little hexagon box appears where the critter "melts" into the container. Then an&nbsp "open container" appears upper left with a red-tinted box in it. Click it to put it into your backpack.&nbsp

Do this until&nbsp you get three and return to the Magic Quarter. Even after you have all three, you can still make more appear as you wish with the "scroll"

Good luck. Hope you're not such a slow learner as I was.. :)

Very easy when done correctly.
Stand at about 56,68 at the top of the stairs, and use the scroll. 4 elementals will immediately come running towards you, fire blast one and move back across the bridge, by then the others would have gone. Then bring the elemental back to your original location, and use the container when he stops attacking.
Repeat to complete quest :)

I read some of tips here and picked up a little of each --- all in the name of saving my life and armor!

I picked this quest up w/ my&nbsp lvl 18 BE mage alt in Org (for some reason it wasnt available when I hit 16), went to the UC died and then came here.

I used arcane explosion to get them to appear and only 1 appeared at a time, when i used the scroll all 4 appeared and i was dead. I didnt have to run away to the stairs or anything. Just arcane explosion, frost nova (for a little distance) fireball, arcane explosion 1 or 2 more times and capture that bad boy!

Good luck!

On 4/9, I was personally able to complete the quest.

The rift spawns attack fast, but given a little range, they can be easily dispatched. As soon as the stunned symbol appears above their head, activate the containment coffer. Then wait...do not click on them until a containment disk appears on the floor. I repeat, DO NOT click before the filled containment coffer appears (everytime I did, no filled coffer).

It took me 11 charges to complete (had to throw away the x10 charge box once).

Well, I died twice, but hadn't used all of my charges, so I didn't have to go back. This quest was Awesome, definitely more challenging than what I'm used to as well.
You spawn the 3 dudes, and fight them one at a time. The don't agro if you don't use an AOE, so you can pull one back with Fireball. I just spammed that until the mob had no HP left, then I was able to open the crate. It got sucked in, and then you open the disc. After that, you retrieve the full charge, and it aknowledges it in your inventory!

If you are on this step here's how to do it.

1. Talk to "Anastasia Hartwell" 2nd floor magic quarter left side.
2. Look behind her and collect the two items. (Chest of containment coffers, and cantation of manifestation)
3. Head to apothecarium coordinate 51,74
4. Use the "contation of manifestation" by the alchemists
5. 3 ghosts will appear
6. Nuke and kill the ghosts to under 10% and then use "Chest of containtment coffers"
7. Wait for it to become CLICKABLE
8. capture the Coffers

I like teh stairs tactic really much. Just to piss horde off, the alliance version of this is so much easier... it's inside an inn, u use the scroll at the door and none of them aggroes and you can just pull them 1 by 1, that's why i got wtfpwned the first time I tryed it with my UD mage. Altough I almost (about 5% life) killed 3 of them at the same time at lvl 16... Frost nova and arcane explosion rank 1 lol had to use a lesser healing lol (I'm alchemist)

I wonder what the red and green jewels are for ...

Have done this at least 4 times now, what is the point?

This is how I (brandspanking new lvl 16 Mage) ended up doing it (yes, I died twice before I worked out this strategy :).

I stood on the middle of the bridge (the right edge, really) facing the Alchemy shop. With both coffer and scroll in the right sidebar I clicked on the scroll and 4 rifts spawned in the shop.
I selected the Rift that was a bit ahead of the others and fireballed it as soon as I could. At this time it was right in front of me while the other 3 Rifts had given up and disappeared by then.
So next I simply used Frost Nova, Fireball, all the usual things (I even spat on it, don't think it helped much lol). As soon as its health was gone I right-clicked on the coffer, the Rift got sucked into it, and next I right-clicked on the disc that appeared where the Rift had been umm... rifting. Another click in the little window that pops up and Bob's your uncle (unless he ain't got balls then he's your auntie).
Rinse & Repeat.
Take it from me, it is easy once you get the idea of how to do it no kiting... no strafing... no problem :)!

the chest and the scroll are behind Anastasia

you go to the alchemist shop and you should go to the stairs and use the scroll. i tried it near there and got killed twice. got jumped by like 6 of those things. when they're almost dead you use the chest on them and then drink something. after like 2 seconds they turn into the coffee containments

Here was how this quest went for me. Located the ghosts or the apparitions via the scroll u get in the area up the ramp where there are 2 shop keepers or personel. Its on the outer rim part of the canals, which can be considered upground and not in the apocathery itself. If I recall rightly there were even UC guards around. Used the scoll, they appeared as (yellow VW), so u can attack as when ready. I used any spell at my disposal til i got all their green health bar to nil (none), then i stopped attacking. With them still targeted, i used the box via clicking on it, then it goes thru a fast action bar and the apparition gets consumed into a crate, takes a little bit to go thru the process. All i do is wait, then it goes into a flat disk like material and indicates success. Then i go and click on it with a right click as in a gold like star to get said crate, once again goes thru an action bar "like opening a chest". Then it was added as one capture into my quest log. I had 3 consecutive success like this and thus was easiy done for me. Only catch for me was after second one i died as i didnt pay attention to my health due to the ease i was getting this done in as opposed to previous posts listed above. lmao, Hope it helps.

First, you need to learn how to kite, if you don't know already: Use strafe. This way your target is 90° from the direction you're facing, so a little glance back that way will put it "in front of" you. (If you put an arrow through your head from ear to ear, anything on the eyes side of the line of the arrow is "in front of" you.) There are some good instants you can cast while you're running. But you only want one of them to stay in combat with you. Another thing about this quest is that when you "stun" the thing by depleting its health, you have to be in the alchemist's shop where the rift is.

So: Set a hotkey for the box and the scroll. Read the scroll in the shop, from 1 to 4 monsters will appear and attack. Pick your target and Fire Blast it. Start to strafe run around the outer ring by the green canal. Whenever Fire Blast cools down glance back enough to put it "in front of" you, and blast it again. This will keep it in combat with you. After 2-3 times, the others will give up the chase and leave combat and fade out. Reverse your running, head back to the shop. by the time you get back there, Fire Blasting all the way, the monster should be almost down to nothing. Finish it and then use the box. Don't forget to right click the box after the monster is trapped and collect your quest item. Rinse, repeat.

These are the types of quests that should be WAY more abundant, rather then just "kill X amount of these", or "kill X amount of these and take their watevers, then bring them to me"...Bliz should definitely do more intuitive and "complex" quests like this.

For any morons like me who just take quests without really reading them listen up.
You need to take the quest then, get the scroll and box right behind the quest giver. I myself spent 30 mins looking around the Alch shop for a damn scroll.

I use the scroll once and got 4 mobs and died, then i read further and saw the post about using flamestike. So all I stood where everyone else said to stand and casted Flamestike near the metal wagon and got 1 to spawn at a time. very easy to do this quest all you need to do is read.

Easier way to do this is to not use the scroll at all, then you can do it at lvl 16 like my girlfriend just has.

The trick is to use flamestrike near the left of the metal wagon.
That will aggro only one of the Manifestations.
Then you can deal with it in your usual fashion.

Eat and drink to full health then in about another 20 seconds it will respawn in the same place, rinse and repeat twice more.

Just found another method, killed 3 of them with my 15 mage.
Here it is: I stood at the middle of the bridge (not the stairs), at the edge of the mana rift. When the elementals trespass that imaginary line, they disappear... unless they're after you.
So that's what you do: hit one of them, get almost off the bridge, so the others disappear, and just one will fight. Kill him. Repeat three times.
