Jungle Remedy (7)
Venom Fern Extract

Description

To have a chance against Kurzen, we need his healing support neutralized. He has gathered a large number of Medicine Men who heal his forces with Jungle Remedies and poison our fighters with Venom Fern Extracts.

We need those remedies and extracts for our own. Search the Kurzen Compound - his Medicine Men and Jungle fighers will have the remedies, and the extracts are probably stowed in some of the camp's supply boxes.

Hey guys just a word of warning! Please dont try to get the jungle remedies from the Medicine Men. The drop rate is very very poor and they are hard to kill. Instead get a mate and go into the cave. There you can kill loads of headshrinkers (perfect for combinong with the mission where u gotta kill a few of them) where the drop rate of jungle remedy from them is almost 100%.
Hope this is useful!

The Second Rebellion is no longer the prerequisite for the quest.

This makes complete sense, since Kurzen Medicine Men & Kurzen Jungle Fighter stand so close to each other, it is pretty much a necessity to kill them both just to complete either one of these two quests.

Needless to say, these two quests should be done together now. []

The boxes with the Fern Extract can be found at 44,9 in front of the two-story house, 44,10 in the middle of the campfire area, or 45,9 next to the stables.

The Medicine Men are a bit of a pain, because they'll heal themselves twice if you don't down them quick enough. If you've got spell interruption abilities, use them when they try to heal it'll make downing them a lot faster.

Also, the drop rate on the Jungle Remedy is fairly low, you'll be killing quite a few of these guys.

This was pretty easily soloed as a lvl 33 Dwarf Warrior. Just be sure not to agro too many Kurzen Medicine Men since they are healers and will heal eachother.

The Jungle Remedy drops from Kurzen Medicine Man around the Kurzen Compound located at 43,10. The Venom Fern Extract can be found near the front door of the building located at 44,9. Click on the boxes near the front door.

I found a house on the west side of the camp, its full of medicine men, that respawn fast.. so it didn't take long to collect the vials. Plus right outside on a crate is the Venom Extract. So this was quick.

i'm attempting to solo bad medicine and the second rebellion with a 31 rogue, and the medicine men are indeed a pain in the ass...however, i've found that a cheap, fledgling version of a stun lock keeps them from healing even once. as long as you can fight only one at a time, it has about a 60-75% success rate so far:

stealth, cheap shot, gouge, backstab, vanish, ambush, then a 5-point kidney shot, and i can usually coast with a sinstrike or two and evisc or slice and dice from there...

the combo points invested into stun time as opposed to straight damage aren't really useful anywhere else, but they help against healers.

i realize this only helps rogues and no one else, but hey, i do what i can :P

If you have a mana burn ability use it or they will heal themselves forever

If you are a priest I suggest Mind Controlling the healers if you are doing this in a group. Your buddy can take out the jungle fighters and you can even use the medicine men to heal them by wasting their mana instead of yours.

# Patch 2.2 (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=174505927)
In the Bad Medicine quest in Stranglethorn, Jungle Remedies can now be found on Jungle Fighters.

That should make this quest a whole lot less tedious.

The drop rates definitely suck for the remedies.

Make sure you do this at the same time as https://classicdb.ch/?quest=203 (The Second Rebellion) which you get from the same camp.

I started this quest last night, first time in Stranglethorn Vale (level 32 Priest).
The Medicine Men can be a PITA, but easy for a priest with mana. Priests should attack using their "Mana Burn" attack. Three hits with that and the medicine men are out of mana and down to about 60% health or so, and they go down easy after that. At one point I was out of mana and then I found out how nasty these guys are. I fought one and he just kept healing himself over and over (their mana regens fairly quickly). I had to run away from him and drink.

This is the most set of quests I've ever had to do so far in this game. These Medicine Men are teh suck and if you aggro more that two of 'em, it's game over for you. It also seemed like the area spawned the mob opposite of what you needed. I was overrun with Fighters when I needed the anti-venom and there were too many Medicine Men when I was hunting fighters. Add to that the slow drop rate and you have one crappy quest.

Eh, worth the XP, though.

Also, if you are soloing this thing, go for the supplies near the house. You aggro one of those MM in the middle, you aggro them all. Not fun.

This quest was kind of a pain, but it wasn't too bad. If you come up the path from the west side of the compound, you can find a few of medicine men you can pull: one inside the giant house, one in front of the house near the campfire (near the boxes where you find the jungle fern extract), and one behind that house. There weren't too many medicine men alone, so I would kill them and wait for them to spawn by killing the jungle fighters (Second Rebellion quest).

The crate is in the center of camp which is 44,10 of Stranglethorn Vale.
The medicine men are best first target (they heal them selves and others).

You can find the compound southeast of the Rebel Camp. Head east following the path, south through the gap and then east again.

The Venom Fern Extract is easy enough to find. Look for a pile of wooden boxes (similar to the ones found behind Corporal Bluth - camp trader - in Rebel Camp). Mouseover them and see if the cog cursor pops up. If it does, you will find the Venom Fern Extract in there.
The only place I have seen these boxes spawn is beside the door of two-story house in the west of camp (not the tower or the lumber mill).

The other half of the quest is harder though. The Medicine Men are quite annoying. They are Priest mobs.

SPELLS:
INNER FIRE: They keep this buff spell up perpetually. This increases their armour by around 720, I believe. 20 successful hits on the mob will use up this spell's charges and remove it.
RENEW: They cast either Renew on themselves once down to 90% health.
HEAL (Greater? Flash? Not sure): They heal themselves once they reach below 50% health.

Priests have the advantage over these guys.
If you pay attention to their actions you will see when they cast Renew/Rejuvination on themselves. You can then use Dispel Magic to remove it. If you only have Rank 1 you may have to cast twice as the first time may just remove Inner Fire instead.

Once they get down to 50% health they will try and heal themselves. You can either mana burn them until they have no mana beforehand, or simply stop them from healing. To stop them from healing, first ensure you have WoW's new Target-of-Target feature turned on in the bottom of Interface Options. They will target themselves before they try to heal themselves, so the moment they do this, stop them by stunning or silencing them.

I suggest you grind these for their Jungle Remedies a lot. These will serve you well even at level 60.

i either wore out their mana reserves (slowly, using Seal of Justice) or killed em quickly (using Seal of Command and my 2H).

as a paladin, the Remedy is not necessary, as the Purify spell does the same thing.

34 Mage. Found the best way to kill the medicine men was to pyroblast, channel arcane missles, fireblast, then scorch or arcane blast until they died. If their health returns just scorch, arcane blast, and fireblast because those are quick.

These medicine men are really evil. They heal them selves and others, so if you end up with 2 medicine men, dont fight them but run away.
They have enough mana to heal twice and they have some kind of exstra health generator..

Easiest thing is to stunn them when they start to cast their healing.. Might give you enough time to finish them

I personally thought this quest was easy at level 31. But then again, I'm a shadow priest and have mana burn and silence. It's kind of hard for the medicine men to heal if they can't use their mana. lol

As a side note, the jungle fighters drop the remedy too, and the medicine men drop herbs for those of you with alchemy. You can sneak around the outside of the camp to get the fighters for the other quest as well but be careful once you go past the entrance of the cave, the commando is stealth and unless you have stealth detection or something like that he's hard to see.
For you mages, counter spell works well to keep the medicine men from casting their healing spells. At least it did for me.

The cords are dead on accurate, thanks
