The Sleeping Druid

Bring a Shaman Voodoo Charm to Oben Rageclaw in the Ban'ethil Barrow Den.
Shaman Voodoo Charm

Description

The Gnarlpine shaman that inhabit this place have discovered a way of separating a sleeping druid's spirit from the physical body. The furbolg have animated my physical form and are using it to attack anyone that attempts to explore the Ban'ethil Barrow Den. I am now trapped in the Emerald Dream, powerless to stop this.

You must help me. The Gnarlpine shaman carry a strange charm which is used to perform this ritual, and I'd like to examine it. Please, <name>, bring one to me.

Easy enough quest (was able to solo as a level 9 druid), but the drop rate is awful so expect to be down here for a while - you should kill enough to level, at least. Careful, however, some pulls will net you two or three mobs.

I solo'd this quest as a level 9 druid (leveled up to 11 doing it) without dying even once. I did have to fight two furbolgs at once several times. The shamans will heal self once and may heal another once as well. The respawn rate is very fast.

I went to the first two bridges (across which are the first two items for The Relics of Wakening quest, (Quest #483) ).

Then I continued down, a bit left then curving around to the right and under the bridges.. past that furlbog hiding around the corner.

I came down to an opening with a bridge going up which leads to the room with the Druid that gives this quest. I had to fight two Augors to talk to him (and every other time I visited him... they spawn fast.)

Facing the bridge up to the druid's room, I went left and then down the tunnel to the left. Eventually it opened out to a circular multilevel room with the druid's evil body walking around it.

I killed many Shaman without getting the voodoo charm that the druid wants, and ended up finding his body before I even finished the first part of his quest. I went all the way through the place killing everything and none of the shamans dropped the item..

I started going around again until I was so aggravated that I paged a GM complaining.. you know.. should I just abandon the quest, abandon it and start over, is it broken or what? I killed a few more shaman without any drop and then gave up and logged off.

When I came back online several hours later, I had an email from Blizzard saying that I should move all of my quest items to my main back pack (from my other quests) and abandon the quest and log off and back on, then get the quest again.

I did what the email suggested, then fought my way back to the druid, got the quest again, and the item dropped from the first shaman I fought after that.

I have confirmed that the charm is group loot so the easiest way to do this quest is get a 5 man group together and kill as many shamans in the den as fast as you possibly can, then when it drops, all 5 people will be able to loot the same corpse.&nbsp I had to kill about 10-15 shamans with the group before it dropped.

Trust me. :)

The easiest way to do this quest is to go with a party. The charm is a group loot item, so killing as many shamans as you can for the drop is the most efficient.

Walked in as lvl 9, got out as lvl 12. Terrible droprate indeed. If there are more people in here, make sure that you at least try to team up with them, or you could very well end up in here forever.

I did this quest as a lvl 11 druid and I cleared the barrow TWICE with no drops for the charm. even tried outside and got nothing. In the end I just abandoned it. I've done this with my hunter main ages ago and I dont remember the drop rate being so ridiculous

Barrows have got to be one of the worse places to quest - almost as bad as ships (wrecked or otherwise).

I don't know what happened, but I came back to this quest at level 18 and killed a few shaman outside. The second one dropped it.

He spawns randomly in the den as a boss - just look for a bearform with his name.&nbsp He can be anywhere in the den

This also drove me nuts.&nbsp I killed shamans for an hour before ultimately deciding to look up the quest on this site.&nbsp I actually got the item inside the cave off a shaman, but I was on my way out at the time.

I killed about 30 shaman IN the cave and about 10 outside the cave.

None of them had the charm so I abandoned the quest.

i got this drop from the shaman all the way up the hill to the left of the cave (when looking at the cave from the outside). after completing the cave i almost didn't bother with him, but i thought what the heck. i don't know whether to say to focus outside the cave, but certainly don't neglect it.

As I mentioned, I got this charm after about 5 shaman inside the caves. Took 5 minutes.

I recently helped someone else and we didn't get the drop after an hour of killing shaman. Musta killed 50 or 60 easy. I ended up having to go get dinner and leaving him to his own devices. No telling how long it took.

The item for this quest if very rare. It seems to spawn only a few times out of every 50 or so kills I had.

Take your time, there's no trick to this one.

I got the item after leaving the cave, turning in the other quest, and coming back. The 4th shaman (I think) dropped the charm.

A posting in (Quest #483) had this tip on dealing with the bad drop rate for the voodo charm. I've actually seen this problem other places also (where somehow the special items are not dropped until you restart the quest). The part about moving stuff between bags is new, and something I would never thought of trying.

This quest has a really bad drop rate... I got mine about 40min.
I dont know if this helps but you could try abandon the quest and get it again.

Contrary to the two previous posts, the Voodoo Charm dropped first time I killed the shaman, and also first time for a friend of mine doing the quest just after me. Perhaps the drop rate has been changed?
