The Thirsty Goblin

Collect a Laden Dew Gland and bring it to Marin Noggenfogger in Gadgetzan.
Laden Dew Gland

Description

I've got an idea, see. I've heard of some strange creatures called dew collectors that live to the southwest... and that they are able to store water in special glands.

I think that if I could get one of these glands, I could create a drink that would quench my terrible thirst! Do you think you could help me, <name>?

Look for the cactus garden, <name>; that's where you'll find the dew collectors.

This quest refers to "the cactus garden", which is a little bit vague, but actually refers to Thistleshrub Valley, around (29,62) and points south. It's located near the entrance to Un'Goro Crater. It does take some kills to get one of the required filled glands.

You should pick up the Thistleshrub Valley quest (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=3362) in addition to this, since they pair nicely.

This quest was recently mentioned on the front page of Penny Arcade.

"After seven blissful levels of wondering why I ever quit WoW, I ended up on some featureless beach in Feathermoon waiting for some stupid, almost nonsensical drop. After that, I talked to a Goblin whose most pressing concern (in a world whose very crust was cracked by perpetual War) was his tremendous thirst. Would I go and get something for him to drink? I've got water, but he doesn't want it. He only wants to drink the glands of some twelve-foot tall plant man. It's like, listen. This is why people don't like Goblins." - Penny Arcade, Inc

This little series of quests is sweet! Nice xp for the trouble. Took me about 15 kills of the Dew collectors. There are a few diffent kinds but I conc on the ones i needed and only fought the others if i HAD too. The next step of this quest is going to TheHinterlands and swiming to the bottom of the small lake there (Valor someting) and gathering up a mushroom.&nbsp EASY.&nbsp More xp and then you get the Elixir. This stuff does one of three things:&nbsp #1 Transforms you into Skeleton.
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp #2 Transforms you into small person.
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp #3 Makes you very light (as feather)

Keep in mind as skeleton, you CANNOT: use your mount, take a gryphon, or wear clothes.

It seems to me that whats going to happen when you drink it comes in waves of three. IE&nbsp the first three times you get small, the second three times your a skele, the third three times your light. Havent done any extensive testing.&nbsp Now if only they would make it so i could ride my Warlock mount as a Skeleton!

When people give information about their level and class when they completed a quest it HELPS give you an idea of what to expect.

A lvl 48 Mage is going to have a different experience than a lvl 46 Mage when trying to do a quest.

And if you think that's useless information and you're going to whine about having to scroll in a web browser... well how useful was your whiney post?

Quest item is found at 31.64 from mobs called "dew collectors"

Its not a good drop rate, i killed 22 before i got mine.

I did it at 60 tho, so didnt take long.
Its alot other mobs around there, not quest droppers, so watch agro :)

talk to "marin Noggenfogger" in Gadgetzan
get the thirsty goblin quest and the thistleshrub quest.
go to the entrance to the Un'Goro crater
there is a cactus garden south east of there.
at cords 30.0 - 61.0 you should be at Thistleshrub valley.....

all three mobs for both quest's are here...

follow the mountain foothills south of the valley until you have reached the other side of the valley.
Then it's merely a question of working your way back towards the north side of the valley...
by the time you have reached the other side again.
you should have all 8 kills of both types and gotten a gland from one of the Dew collectors.
If this is not the case....have patience and they will respawn pretty fast...and this time more Dew collectors will spawn....
As a lvl 48 hunter, 600+ xp per kill and a few silvers each time....and remember to look for a turtle called tooga...along the northern side of the valley...easy fun quest.
have fun

Took about 15 kills, but I had to share the spawn with a number of other people. Actually, they were alliance (I'm horde, on a PVP server). So it went smoother than it could have.

Thistleshrub Dew Collectors are located all the way SW of Tanaris. They are level 46-48. The Laden Dew Gland is the rare drop with Punctured Dew Gland being the common. Gnarled Thistleshrubs and Thistleshrub Rootshapers for "Thistleshrub Valley" quest spawn in the same area, but are 49-50. Hard, but possible to solo as the mobs roam a lot and tend to roam into each other. These quests are also good to group with as the kills count for group. I don't know if the Laden Dew Gland is a multi-loot item.

Make sure your are killing the dew collectors.&nbsp I was getting frustrated until i realized i wasn't killing the right ones all the time.&nbsp Once I started doing that, took about maybe 5 more kills.

Thistleshrub Valley, (referred to as 'The Cacti Garden,') is in the bottom Southwest corner of Tanaris, also being the place where you get from Tanaris to Un'Goro Crater. It's a good quest to do with "Thistleshrub Valley," since the Thistleshrub guys that you need to kill are there. You can get "Thistleshrub Valley" from Tran'rek in Gadgetzan. I got the Laden Dew Gland on my 12th kill, but it only took me like 10-15min to do this quest and "Thistleshrub Valley". It's pretty easy, just time consuming----like those essay questions! XD

I got it on my first kill also, and did stay and do the "Thistleshrub Valley", but even though I went end to end of the valley twice with hunter 'locate beasts' on I never found the turtle that needs to get back to his wife.

I think someone should put that quest name in here and his co ords.

I killed maybe about 10 or so of the dew collectors. I am a lvl 48 pally, and was using an axe. I got one Empty Dew Gland, and no punctured ones. I never switched to a blunt weapon, and still got it. Just a random drop as far as I can tell. Coords are all over...anywhere from 30, 69 to 27, 68. In Thistleshrub Valley, slightly SW from Noxious Lair, next to Un'Goro Crater entrance.

Thistleshrub Valley is at 29,61

Plenty of dew collectors there, and they respawn quick too, but you'll need it.&nbsp I killed over 30 to get the 1 drop needed.

Make sure you're on the Thistleshrub Valley quest also, so you can kill the other types there at the same time.

Must have killed 30 of them with my level 47 lock, no drop, got bored, ganked a level 48 mage, hearthed.

As my reputation is already green with Gadgetzan, i might just bin this quest. Low drop rate quests bore me to tears. Especially after i spend about an hour and a half just "testing samples" for another Tanaris quest last night.

As a zone, Tanaris sucks. The quests are dull, and the extra auction house is pointless!

I guess I got really lucky! At lvl 44 with my NE Hunter I got some nice XP just walking across Tenaris (discovering areas) and I stopped to kill Fire Roc's along the way for the Clamlette Suprise quest. Had no trouble getting there. Went over the hill and sent my pet in to tank the first elemental I saw. He was lvl 49 so it took a minute to kill him but he dropped it. I got 610 xp off killing him so I went further into the area and attempted to kill a lvl 50 but aggro'd more and died. I rez'd at the spirit healer and was right next to gadgetzan so that saved me the walk back and just have to wait 10 minutes to pass for rez sickness. The next quest in chain is just walking across the compound and you get 450 XP at lvl 40 just for doing that. Level after that is still red to me so I havent looked into it yet.

I spent over an hour as Mage 50, killing well over 150 of these guys without the drop. Perhaps it was because I was in a party that was on the other continent, but it was not fun >.< After disbanding, it only took about 10-20 kills to get one. So you might be better off soloing this one, but who knows. At least I got 30k Exp from the whole ordeal before I finally got the drop... That's something I guess.
