Description

My philosophy on leatherworking is that the work must be the best quality possible - no compromises. Anyone who says that quality doesn't matter is trying to sell you ocean-front property in Dun Morogh!

In my latest pursuit of high-quality materials, I have run across thick yeti hides. The Yeti are native to Feralas, with many found in Feral Scar Vale. I want some, and I'll give you a choice of one of my leather goods for a stack of ten. If that sounds fair to you, then we're in business.

either ask questions or give answers, dont just post saying how easy it was, the yheti cave is at 53,58 the drop rate seems to be around 1 in 3 nothing unusual, average quest.

To translate the Cosmos coordinates quoted by many users, simply think of percentages.&nbsp The first number quoted is always <X> left<->right and the second is <Y> top<->bottom.

The reference is to the map of the zone which you get when you hit the M key.

<X> far left is 0, far right is 100, middle is 50
<Y> far top is 0, far bottom is 100, middle is 50

coords of 52,56 means 2/100 to the right of center, 6/100 below center screen.

For the non-skinner: This quest is doable. you do NOT need to be a skinner.

For those that are skinners they can also get a possible drop of the Thick Yeti Hide making their time in the cave shorter.

Note: The cave is just on the other side of the 'cave entrance' which is just really a tunnel to the actual cave.

You get these from drops and from skinning, so skinning will speed up the quest.

Easily completed this quest w/ my 42 feral druid, all cat form.
55,56 is the mouth of a cave, go thru it to the next cave, which is full of yeti, mostly 45 & 46 in there, a few 44 outside the caves. I easily ran thru them all w/o heal, killed about 8 straight before health got below 50% and I tossed on a heal. The 46 gave me trouble, had to switch to bear mode for a moment while the DoT heal did its job. Probably took about 30-40 kills to collect all the hides.

With a skinner it took me 13 Yetis:
6 dropped the hides
4 yielded hides on skinning
(2 yetis did both)
All of this outside at 56,56

The drop rate is slow for the hides.&nbsp You find the Yeti needed South of Twin Colossals in Feralas.&nbsp Once the trail turns to the east, head south off trail and you will find them.&nbsp 44-45 level mobs.&nbsp The drop rate was slow for me, skinning skill would have helped I am thinking. But easy grinding exp. Once I got 5 hides the rate increased, not sure if that happens to everyone.&nbsp They can respawn fast so keep eyes open if you are in the cave.&nbsp

4050 exp, sold the boot reward for 57 silver Gained 110 Darnassas rep.

East side of mountains, west of trail leading south, inland from coast almost due east of the little island, in the middle of the map per directions, soloed as a 43 rogue skinned 5 min. the Feral Vale Yetis. Got most from skinning, nice to loot quest items twice! :D

53,58 is right and watch out they spawn FAST! lol I Had Two People Running Before Me And They Werent Skinners So I Finished In Like 5 Minutes But Solo Would Take Longer Because They Cleared The Whole Cave And Then I Finished =/

What a super quest. As a hunter/skinner this was tailor made for me. At level 43 even though it is an orange quest this was a breeze. Just pop on your mount, hop down to the Yeti place (Feral scar vale), kill 'em and skin 'em often for 2 hides each. All open spaces and well set apart yetis. Possible to be done at level 42/41 even!

Anonymous records a drop rate of about 14% my experience was half that (2 pelts from 30++ kills.)&nbsp If early reports of 10 hides from 6 mobs are true, Blizzard has greatly reduced the drop rate since Anonymous started counting.

Call it a leatherwork quest.&nbsp A leather trainer issues the quest, the rewards are leather items... and a skinner will get double the chances of a hide, plus a ton of usable leather. For others, I'd call it a grind.

I got my 10 mostly from skining :P I killed like 8 and 3 or 4 dropped I got the rest from skinning almost 1 per Yeti. Took me 5 min at most (@ lvl 49 Feral Druid).

Also I got Furs from all Feral Scar Yeti in that area, in and outside cave/tunnel.

I did this quest and by looking at the comments I was fearing it but I'm also a skinner and I got all 10 hides from about 15 yeti. Not sure if I'm just lucky but it took me about 10 min.

You can get two pieces of the hide from each body if you skin them. It's about a 2/7 of a chance to have that, but it helps. :)

the drop rate for me is
FERAL SCAR YETI: 11% (2/19)
HP: about 1800 for the 43 and about 1900 for the 44
ENRAGED SCAR YETI: 50% (2/4)
HP: about 2100

the location of the cave is 55,56 AT THE ENTRANCE and inside u can find the hooming robot OOX-22/FE

Easy, just take one at at time. I can get about 4 without stoping for health to regenerate.

About 30 kills so far and I have half.

Drop rate was fine... 1 in 3.

Cave at 53,56 just go farm them.. took me about 10 mins. 48 mage.

The droprate is totally f*ed up for those of us who are not skinners... I've spent like half an hour killing yetis now and got ONE of the hides. That leatherworker guy can go get his own hides from now on, and take this crappy quest with him!

Pretty easy quest as a lvl 49 warrior and lvl 49 Priest but the drop rate was astonishingly low. We cleared the cave and all the yeti outside and only after hitting the cave a second time were we able to get all the hides we needed. A skinner has a definite advantage here.
