Rig Wars

Retrieve the Rig Blueprints and Thermaplugg's Safe Combination from Gnomeregan and bring them to Nogg in Orgrimmar.
Rig Blueprints
Thermaplugg's Safe Combination

Description

Gnome technology - two years ago its most common use was as a punch line. Times certainly have changed. Now they've got a new rig built that's better than all our shredder models combined. I need the blueprints, <name>!

Unfortunately, the plans are locked away in a safe near Mekgineer Thermaplugg. To make matters worse, the combination to the safe is only known by Mekgineer Thermaplugg.

Do whatever you have to do to get that combination, <name>. Then crack open that safe and bring back those blueprints!

You need to speak to Nogg in Orgrimmar and accept the quest. After you accept it, a goblin to the right of you will have a quest. He asks you to speak to Scooty in Booty Bay. YOU MUST RECEIVE THIS QUEST. After you speak to Scooty he gives you the Goblin Transponder. Walk onto the platform and it'll bring you to Gnomeregan instantly. Rig Wars is sharable, but if you receive it you cannot obtain the Goblin Transponder (you haven't been told to speak to Scooty).

Went down there last night with two guildmates, 33 priest, 35 hunter and myself 34 rogue.

If you want to do this I reccomend having full party 30+ and at least 3-4 hours of time.

Alliance has a much easier time getting into the original instance since it is in Gnome/Dwarf territory.

Horde must enter via a transporter in Booty Bay. Get off the boat and head right you will see a goblin guarding a strange contraption.

Inside, you will have many routes to take. You will see many little consoles where you acquire various keycards that are in binary. Basically move all around the first instance and gather these keycards. You will find the mini quest here from a female gnome. There is also an escourt mission deeper in, but we didnt want to head back towards the exit to find out what he had to offer. You will find a machine that cashes in the "little bits" you keep getting off mobs. Reward varies from junk and ore to Iradescent Pearls and I even got a nice necklace with +agi/spirit. If you go into the next room&nbsp you will find the escort mission in one of the window type rooms on the right wall. Eventually you will start facing machines and little workers that are not elite as an earlier poster mentioned. Beware the wandering robot that starts shouting out alerts! He will spawn mobs until he is killed. Also beware the machinesmiths they will repair the machines during battle. As a rogue I was unable to sap the machines but I was able to cheap/kidney shot them into a stunned state. Work your way around and you will eventually find the bigger machine that has a key to open the door to the next instance.

In the next instance its more of the same elite machinery and more of the little workers. Beyond that you will start fighting dark dwarves that will drop a trap on death, so be careful. Work your way around and you will find your quest items.

There are two entrances to this instance. If you don't want to get the key for the shortcut, die inside of the instance, then as a ghost walk through the locked backdoor.

There are some nasty groups of mobs in there. The best advice is to always make sure your gruop kills atleast one.

Stay away from the edge of any ledge. If you fight on the edge, you'll pull dozens of elites by accident.

You can kill mines from the dwarves, but they have a lot of health. The best option is to back up when a mine is laid.

Kill the red alarm robots before they yell more than once. If you don't, a party of robots (sometimes more than 4) will come and get you.

For the boss, make sure you close all the doors before you fight. Designate 1-2 people to continue closing doors while you are fighting. The doors are closed with big red buttons at the bottom of hte pillar.

This task is actually really easy...... Once you're in the instance (the main enterance, not thru the door) go straight, then right.&nbsp You will come to a dead end... jump off (make sure u got a healer or someone that has first aid for this). Then, folow the wall you are on until you see an opening wit gnomers on birdthings. Go thru this hallway, and once ur out, kill the gnome humanoids and go right... killing every mob in the way. About 3/4 the way around, there will be a ramp that prings you up to a bot, kill it, and get the key. Now, go back down the ramp and jump down to the lower part. Continue to circle the lower part until you find a hallway with dark iron dwarves. If this hallway, you can go in the middle or to the left... take the path on the left. Walk straight down this entire hallway and eventually you will see a big door. Open it wit your key and kill the gnomes and machines guarding the boss. You will see the boss in the middle, so kill him and take the combination. Now that you have the combination, go straight and jump up to a walkway a little bit higher than the part you were standing on. Just make a circle around the thing you are on until you find a box. Use the combo to open it and you will get the blueprints... you have just completed rig wars :)&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Wartaku: lvl 32 hunter - mok'nathal (i did it wit a 70)

I keep seeing all these posts like "if youre a rogue wanting thse pants fear not get lockpicking to 150+" but what you're all failing to mention is that this quest isn't even soloable by a rogue in any means or fashion for the level range of the triprunner dungarees.
Sure, you can skip the entire first instance and pick the workshop door no problem.
But what about once you've done that,.. the last door marked "The Final Chamber" cannot be lockpicked so you obviously need some sort of keycard, which judging by previous posts can be found on the electrocutioner in the first instance..

So I fail to see where 150+ lockpicking is a rogues salvation in this quest since you still need to drag a group through the first instance to get the final chamber keycard.

Oh and let's say a solo rogue gets the keycard on his/her own. What then? There are 3 level 32 elite mobs patrol-guarding the final chamber, 1 arcane nullifier, 1 mechanized guardian and 1 dark iron agent... i -highly- doubt any solo rogue would manage to take these out even if they used blind/potions/dodge buff until level 40+

So please post information that is a little more accurate next time, Don't get everyones hopes up posting mindless crap like "150 LOCKPICK WILL SAVE UR LIFE OMG!"

This quest, for the most part*, cannot be soloable.
To completely skip the entire first instance I highly suggest someone get the keycard for the final door on their own then try to get a group together of 3 rogues and 2 druids (both classes benefit from the stats on the leather leggings, and both can stealth passed zergs of mobs which will only delay the completion of the quest.)
I highly suggest all are over level 30, and at least one rogue at 35-36+ to tank Thermaplugg at the end while the 2 others add extra dps, one druid healing and one last one turning off the bombs.

* unless you're level 60

I tried picking up Rig Wars at level 25 today, and was not offered the quest by Nogg.

I still had the quest "Chief Engineer Scooty" in my log from when I picked it up a few levels before, so I went to Booty Bay to turn that in, picked up my Goblin Transponder, then came back to Orgrimmar. Only then did Nogg offer me Rig Wars.

You can not just go to Scooty in BB and teleport.&nbsp You have to first get a quest from a goblin in the engineering shop in Orgrimmar.&nbsp He will give you a quest to talk to Scooty.&nbsp This quest gives a transponder that will allow you to teleport.&nbsp I got it at level 25.&nbsp Hope this helps.

Oozl, rogue L37, ShadowMoon.

I know a short way to the main boss. Looking for rogue m8(s) 35+ to get the boss down on ShadowMoon.

It takes about 10-15 mins to get to the boss hall from the Horde teleport depending on whether you're detected by Mechanical Alarm System before you reach the entrance to the boss hall. If detected, you need one more Vanish which results in +5 mins waiting for Vanish to be available again (you will need it to get into the hall and, probably, while fighting the boss).

What is necessary? Flash Powder largo manum. 10+ (if you're detected you're dead without it). Health potions, scrolls, bombs are pluses.

Whisper me if I'm online or just post a message. I'll reply when online. My usual playing hours are about 8-9:00+ GMT.

Cant solo this with a 36 rogue, it was fun though. Stealthed to the boss, got him to 75% before I had to vanish and hearthstone. definitely possible with a priest and a rogue though, just would take forever getting to the boss without stealth. I reccomend just getting a guildmate lvl 60 to do it with you

I had trouble with this quest finding the correct order. I finally got it so everyone else won't have such a hard time. This is for horde only. I don't know the steps for alliance sorry.

STEPS in order:

1. Go to Tinker shop in Org. Valley of Honor

2. Speak to "Nogg" Expert Engineer trainer, take "Rig Wars" quest "taking this quest is what makes the second step available"

3. After taking Rig Wars, Speak to Sovik (engineer supplie dude) and take "Chief Engineer Scooty" .

4. Go to Booty Bay. Scooty is just outside of the inn (you'll have yellow dot on minmap)

5. Speak to him to complete step one, then speak to him again and take Going Gooone or whichever, just keep talking to him til he gives you the transponder, That's it.

Hope this helps you all out :)

I completed Gnomeregan last night with...
Myself - Level 30 Tauren Druid
Level 35 Undead Rogue
Level 33 Troll Rogue
Level 32 Undead Priest
Level 35 Undead Mage (added near the end of Instance).

We had a few problems with wiping before we added the mage, but after that we cleared the rest of the place out, no problem.

Thermaplugg is NOT difficult, just make sure, if it's taking long enough that a lot of bombs start spawning, that you kill them off, or hit the red switches to stop them from spawning.

To do this quest you need a party of lvl 31+ or so.

Also this quest goes hand-in-hand with the Scooty teleportation quest from Ogrimmar Engineer shop to Booty Bay.

Very very large instance dungeon with elite mobs that reach lvl 33 or so. Plus Thermaplugg is lvl 35 elite boss.

Not so easy, but for the pants... definitely worth it.

Implementa 55 Dwarf Paladin (Elune Server)

I was looking on thottbot one day for quests to do and found a few quests that were available to alliance and horde through netural quest giving goblins.

After sharing the quest with dozens of people in Ironforge and they sharing it with their guildmates i was contacted by a GM and was told I created a major game disruption. They informed me that no action was going to be taken against me but that they admired my resourcefulness and determination in finding the quest in the middle of (in the far back corner) Orgrimmar.

Its true that they made the goblin quest givers hostile in the 1.4 patch but if you were lucky enough to be in IF that day I was sharing the quest you got to keep your Goblin Transponder.

For those of you that thought I was crazy...HAHAHA

WARNING: I just had a GM confirm that this quest (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=7728 ) is the one that BUGS the Gnomeregan teleporter quest line!!!!

If you complete STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass before you complete Chief Engineer Scooty (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=2842 ), you can NOT pick up that quest anymore, and you will NOT be able to get your Goblin Transponder (http://classicdb.ch/?item=9173 ) to teleport to Gnomeregan.

Reminder: Chief Engineer Scooty is obtainable after you talk to Nogg next to Sovik and accept Rig Wars (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=2841 ).

The GM escalated my ticket to a Character Specialist, said it will take 3-5 days for him to respond. Currently waiting for the response.

this quest is not for the horde alone. the npc you get this from is in a building that is in the western part of the valley of honor deep in orgimmar. when u enter the valley of honor youll se on your mini map where he is. to get in to there well im a 35 mage so i just kept dyin and respawnin till i got there. also there is one or two more quests you can learn there as well for alliance and everybody in that certain hut is all yellow NPC except for one that will not attack so dont worry about that but there is a guard outside so if ur low lvl u should hurry with the finishing of the quest GL. also on a side note if you did the grand betrayal and dont want to go all the way to orgimmar for the xp then youll just get the same stuff u get for the betrayal quest tho i guess you could disenchant sell etc. but considerin the walk from gnomeregan even with my flight path from auberdine to theramore it still took me a while so you decide.

Just did this with me (level 47 Rogue) and a guild mate (level 33 rogue or so).

No problems getting there, but our first attempt at him didn't work. I focused on fighting, he tried to stop bombs. We had him really low when my partner got overwhelmed and then I got hit by a couple of bombs and went down.

We got back down and Thermaplugg had about 3 or 4 bombs around him. We sniped them off with our guns to leave him alone and then vanished. Gave it one more try and this time my partner focused on blocking any bombs from getting to me (even throwing himself in the way of some!) and Thermaplugg went down easy.

If I had to do it again, I'd definitely bring a second low level rogue or druid. Shutting the pillars off was just too much of a job for one guy.
