Chief Engineer Scooty

Speak with Scooty in Booty Bay.

Description

As soon as we got word from Kernobee about the new gnomish rig, Scooty and I began work on the Transpolyporter 6000: The fastest and most reliable way to Gnomeregan.

It's finally ready for passengers to board, <name>. If you want to give it a try, go to Booty Bay and talk with Scooty at the wind rider roost. To get to Booty Bay, take the boat from Ratchet.

Of course, you could always try and make the run to Gnomeregan through the dwarf infested mountains of Dun Morogh!

so everybody was too busy complaining that the alliance can't do horde quests to bother posting where scooty actually is. he's outside the salty sailor tavern on the east end of booty bay, at 28,77

This quest chain allows Horde characters to easily access Gnomeregan.

I had trouble with this quest finding the correct order. I finally got it so everyone else won't have such a hard time. This is for horde only. I don't know the steps for alliance sorry.

STEPS in order:

1. Go to Tinker shop in Org. Valley of Honor

2. Speak to "Nogg" Expert Engineer trainer, take "Rig Wars" quest "taking this quest is what makes the second step available"

3. After taking Rig Wars, Speak to Sovik (engineer supplie dude) and take "Chief Engineer Scooty" .

4. Go to Booty Bay. Scooty is just outside of the inn (you'll have yellow dot on minmap)

5. Speak to him to complete step one, then speak to him again and take Going Gooone or whichever, just keep talking to him til he gives you the transponder, That's it.

Hope this helps you all out :)

WARNING: I just had a GM confirm that this quest (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=7728 ) is the one that BUGS the Gnomeregan teleporter quest line!!!!

If you complete STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass before you complete Chief Engineer Scooty (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=2842 ), you can NOT pick up that quest anymore, and you will NOT be able to get your Goblin Transponder (http://classicdb.ch/?item=9173 ) to teleport to Gnomeregan.

Reminder: Chief Engineer Scooty is obtainable after you talk to Nogg next to Sovik and accept Rig Wars (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=2841 ).

The GM escalated my ticket to a Character Specialist, said it will take 3-5 days for him to respond. Currently waiting for the response.

This quest IS currently bugged, but it has nothing to do with being high level or blood elf.

Completing certain (unrelated) high level quests will cause this quest to be marked as completed as well. That's why you can't get it from the NPC anymore and the GM sorcen talked to told him he had already completed it when he hadn't. If someone in your party tries to share it with you, they will also see the "[name] has already completed this quest" message.

Unfortunately, despite that, scooty does not allow you to restore the teleporter unless you really did complete the quest... which means that currently, if you are in this situation, you will have no other choice than to walk to gnomeregan the long way.

Just an FYI...I found this on thott

http://thottbot.com/v3404098
Confirmed above post. If you are level 70 and already completed "STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout Spyglass," but now want to go back to Gnomeregan AND NEVER COMPLETED RIG WARS, you will be unable to obtain the Chief Engineer Scooty quest.

Petition a GM for a character issue. They will escalate your ticket to a character specialist, who will fix this issue and give you the Gnomeregan transporter item. From petition to resolution took me about 20 minutes.

You can only get this quest if you accept Rig Wars from Nogg who stand a little to the left of Sovik (when facing Sovik)

I posted on the official EU forums about this issue and got a response from a GM:

We are aware of a problem with gaining this quest. Normally, as long as you have Rig Wars active in your quest log, you should be able to gain Chief Engineer Scooty, regardless of your level. However there is currently an issue whereby if you have completed a different, unrelated quest, you are not able to take the Chief Engineer Scooty quest. Our development team are aware of this, and they will hopefully fix it :)

In the meantime, if you ever wish to get the Chief Engineer Scooty quest, do not complete Rig Wars. Once this quest is completed you can not take Chief Engineer Scooty and this is currently intended.

After asking which other quest was affecting this, I got the following response:

The quest causing this appears to be "STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass".

I got the teleporter to work for me the first time I tried this, with very little effort, but I went back later and couldn't get it to work. Finally, it did work.

What I discovered was that it is EXTREMELY SENSITIVE (or call it buggy). I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but I have a feeling the programmers decided to leave it the way it is - buggy - just like typical Gnomish Enginering.

It can take you a couple of minutes of manuvering around to try and find the "sweet spot" to make it work. If you really want in, don't give up, just keep at it.

This is ancient history, but for the first several patches of the game, the goblins who gave this quest and Rig Wars were Steamwheedle factioned. If you were Alliance, and could sneak or fight your way to the Valley of Honor, you could get their quests. I never bothered to complete Rig Wars, but this one I did so I could move on to (Quest #2843) and pick up the (Item #9173). My long-retired rogue, whom I now use mainly for herb storage and taking screenshots of projectile weapons, still has it.

I had the same problem many of you seem to be having. I was able to get the Rig Wars quest, I heard Sovik whisper to me, but then he had no quest for me.

Luckily, I talked to a very helpful GM who knew exactly what to do. He told me to drop the quest STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass. Once I dropped that quest, I was able to talk to Sovik and get the Chief Engineer Scooty quest immediately.

Hope this helps someone!

What I'm guessing is that this quest has a lvl cap to it. Guess Bliz doen't want to give high lvl hordes an easy and quick teleport close to IF. That's all I can come up with.

Here's the e-mail I got from the "specialist" (lolz) with my in-game petition (I had to wait couple of days for specialist's response tho):
Greetings!

Thank you for contacting the World of Warcraft Game Master Department.

Petition: "Dear GM,

I'm currently trying to get "Chief Engineer Scooty" quest from Sovik in Orgrimmar, however after some research online, it seems this quest becomes unavailable due to some bug (after completing some higher level quests).

I'm sure I didn't complete this quest and I tried disbanding and accepting "Rig Wars" quest again (which is a quest I need to pick up to get "Chief Engineer Scooty".

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Thank you."

Answer: I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I've resolved the issue and left you in front of Sovik so you can accept the quest when you log back in ^_^

Should you require further assistance, please submit another help request the next time you are online. We hope you continue to enjoy your experience in World of Warcraft!
I logged to the game, found my warrior next to Sovik ready to accept to the quest. Man, I had so much issues with GMs on EU servers and so far on US they have been much more helpful. :)

So if someone gets into similar trouble, try that.

Ok I did the quest rig wars, and talked to Sovik and Scooty. Neither have a quest for me now, and I don't have the transponder either in my bags or in the bank. So I have fell through the cracks apparently. I want to do gnomer because I just picked up engy, but It just isn't letting me get the transponder quest. Ideas, any1 else have this problem? I put in a GM request, and they were as always "so" helpful...
