Wandering Shay

Pick up Shay's Bell from the chest.

Escort Shay Leafrunner to Rockbiter's camp.
  •
Take Shay Leafrunner to Rockbiter's camp
Shay's Bell

Description

Do you think you could help me find my way back to my friend, Rockbiter? He was supposed to be watching me... But I do have a tendency to wander off now and then. There are just so many things to see, and I get so distracted.

There is one thing that will always work to get my attention, though.

Inside this chest, you'll find a bell that is very precious to me. I just love the sound of it. You have my word, if I wander off, all you have to do is ring it and I'll come running back.

I was doing "The Morrow Stone" chain with this quest, so got a bit lost.

You should clear a path from Rockbiter to Shay before you fight.

Talk to Shay, loot the chest. Basically you hug the mountains, and you will encounter 1 Harpy by the Lahassa Essence fire. Go around, hugging the mountain again, then you should see 3 Harpies. After this go around another bend, and you'll come to a large tree. Go along the left side of the tree into a road/valley straight to Rockbiter (tloc 42,21). (It's best to clear the harpies before you start the escort)

When I first turned in the quest, I had a couple mobs tailing me so I decided to fight them off with Shay before turning it in. After killing the mobs, the yellow ? disappeared off of Rockbiter so I had to abandon and re-do the quest. I paged a GM but didn't want to wait. So I'm not too sure, but you might want to just click on Rockbiter before too much time expires~

Unlike many escort quests, Shay follows you instead of marching off while you're fighting patrols. The only complication is the 30 minute timer.

It's not a bad idea to clear a small path a bit to the Southeast of the girl.

As a hunter, you can usually run all the way down to Rockbiter using Aspect of the Cheetah. Shay won't wander off until she catches up with you, and you can easily outrun her (not too much though!) so she doesn't wander at all if you use it.

Just keep your pet on defensive and don't bother fighting any mobs that she doesn't start attacking.

Soloed as a 47 hunter using these tactics.

Good luck!

Soloed as a L45 Warrior, Fury Spec, Dual Wield.&nbsp You have to hug the northern edge (which become other cardinal edges as you walk, of course) of the rock walls and try and avoid conflicts.&nbsp Luckily Shay is Level 50, and she helps you when you're aggroed.

You can't use her bell when you're being attacked though, so run back to where you lost her (if you know where that is) and she'll help you out.&nbsp Best to use the bell periodically and watch what the devil she's doing.&nbsp You should be able to tell if she's following or not based on her movement speed.

All in all, she had to kill a few Harpies for me, and a few beasts.&nbsp I just used Sunder Armor, Rend, and Thunder Clap on the mobs, and was able to hit them a bit (largest mob she killed as a L50 Harpie, and that was almost the end of my life.&nbsp Thankfully the Harpies run in fear at 15% or whatever).&nbsp If you're a Warrior, use Defensive Stance, it will help.&nbsp Switch stances when appropriate.

Bandages, scroll buffs, food buffs, and Jewelcrafting statues are your friend.&nbsp Doubtful if I could have done this at L44.

This quest may be bugged for some in 2.4.2 -- twice in a row, wow froze/crashed while looting the bell, and I was unable to complete the quest

edit: after disabling all addons, the quest worked. Can't be sure which one caused it, but be careful

Just take the girl to rockbiter (where you got the quest) and voila. As above poster said you can stick to the mountain and avoid most of the fighting. Use the bell to keep her with you if she starts wandering off.

Soloed this qst with my lvl50 warrior, did it at same time did The Stave Of Equinex qst, this scort&nbsp was very easy, think a lower lvl char can do same avoiding any fight, just follow below steps:

1.- Get qst from the giant, then go East 2 the road keeping the mountains on ur right, no foes, a wolf a bit close only.

2.- Follow the road North till u reach montains on ur&nbsp left, follow them West, keeping them again on ur right. No foes, u got 2 avoid a gorilla and a lvl50 elite harpy, both far enough, just beware.

3.- U will eventualy reach the small temple where she awaits u, complete qst and get the bell from the box at her side.

4.- Follow same way back, the girl will follow u (close on foot, see below*), she will start wandering (aggroing existing foes) only if u stop moving, 2 avoid such a thing, set a hot key 4 the bell and call her back.

Doing so, u will b able 2 complete qst in les than half the time u need 2.

*Indeed, mounted on my horse and she also followed me, but getting far on my back. Didnt take care about foes and she was attacked by 2 bears and a wolf, but as she keeps running 2 u, they leaved her after a few hits, she didnt stop 2 fight till went back and dismounted, at that time 2 foes went back 2 their positions, I just had 2 easily kill a bear and a new wolf that joined the party.

I had so much fun doing this qst, 1st time u lead the way 4 a scort, nice change, also the elf comments when she starts wandering and u call her back are really funny, highly recommended 4 RPG lovers.

This one is very very easy.&nbsp When you meet her she is facing the way you need to go ... go to her left, and follow the path, it's pretty easy to keep her away from mobs.&nbsp Took her away from the harpies, towards the bears and gorillas, and went up the nearby mountain/hill and circled that to the right (west) and went right to the end of it.&nbsp Didn't aggro any mobs at all.

I just finished the quest in about 10 minutes total. I used the bell around 6 times and it never dissapeared, and she followed me most of the time. I just continually used the bell after every mob encounter so she would keep following. Good easy exp -

You get this quest from a Stone Giant guy named Rockbiter. You can find him just to the west of the Twin Colossals. This is so far the worst of the "Escort someone here" quests I've done. You find Shay in a small round building with columns in the Ruins north and slightly west of Rockbiter. You have to watch out because Shay will randomly wander off (which she warns you about) and to bring her back to you you ring her bell thats next to her in a chest when you find her. You have a 15 minute time limit to get her back safely. I recommend going south along the mountains and then east back to Rockbiter. I had trouble though since for some reason the bell dissapeared from my inventory after I rang it 3 times, still had about 8 minutes left, she wandered away and I could do nothing.

All you really have to do is let her wander off a tiny bit at the start, get some distance, ring the bell and mount. Then just keep going and never let her catch up to you, but try to keep her somewhat close. She will despawn if she gets too far away but it is quite a distance that she has to get to do that. Trust me she will despawn as I had her despawn right at the end using this method -_-. So I'd probably recommend just dismounting since there'll be no mobs and letting her catch up if you want to.

4550xp at lvl 49

After I brought Shay to Rockbiter, had to wait a bit (1 min) before Rock would let me finish quest and claim loot. For a sec I thought it was bugged, so don't worry if you can finish right away give it some time.

This is an easy quest. Just ring the bell and start running. After ringing the bell Shay will run after you, just dont let her get close, keep a distance between her and yourself. Keep running all the way back to Rockbiter, ignoring the mobs, (be sure to look back and see if she's still following) and you'll be done.

I hate her. The first time I did this quest I let her die intentionally just so I could see her death animation.

Otherwise, don't let the twit fight. She may be level 50, but the 48 harpies rip her apart.

I did it, and it's fairly easy, and I still got like 13 mins or so. She said she will run to you if you use the bell, so the main point is, use the bell at a distance, then just run to Rockbiter, do not stop. She just wandered once when I was doing the quest, since she just keep chasing me after I used the bell. I only used the bell once, easy xp.

this is actually one of the fastest and easiest quests out there. She'll wander off occasionally but you can just ring the bell. I think you can even just run straight back after she wandered off and then use the bell. There are no extra spawns for her since it's not a fixed route escort, also allowing you to take your own route back to the giant.
It seems that the bell used to have charges, this is not the case anymore.

Such an easy quest. Accept it, pick up the bell and then head off in whichever direction you want to take. Shay will follow but unlike the other posters have said, keep her as close as possible! This way, not only can you keep a close eye on her but you will also have a prompt from her when she is about to wander. Ring the bell, she returns to your side and continue on your way. If you need to fight mobs and she is close by then she will help, just make sure the aggro is kept off her.

I was really close to rockbiter when Shay wandered off and I didn't notice, she was barely out of my view when I failed the quest. I tried to go back and get her again, and it didn't work. So I tried getting rid of the bell, still no go. Then I tried abandoning and getting it from Rockbiter again, still no go.
