The Key to Searing Gorge.

Elaborates a bit on the above info.

Step 1: Kill Margol the Rager and get his horn. Map

There is no starting quest for this, you just need to find and kill a 48 Elite and get the drop item that will begin a quest to obtain the Key to Searing Gorge.

First of all you need to obtain the item Margol's Gigantic Horn from Margol the Rager, a 48 Elite Stegasaurus in the mountains of Searing Gorge.&nbsp
This item will begin a short quest.

To start this quest, you first need to gain access to Searing Gorge by going to the badlands and find the hidden passage located at (6,60).&nbsp Follow the path east util you enter Searing Gorge.&nbsp
Once you reach the end of the path, follow the new path SW until you get past the Dark Iron Camp(62,57) and then continue SE so that you reach
Tanner Camp with the Alliance Master Elemental Leatherworker, Sarah Tanner(64,75).&nbsp
Continue past the camp and make and then head NE up the hill(66,80).&nbsp Margol wanders this path all the way to his cave(72,79)

Margol the Rager

Health - Approx 6100 HP

Attacks: (depending on gear and level)

Chained Bolt - Inflicts between 110-130 Nature Damage - 2 second charge that will cast 3 times before recharging.

Thunderclap&nbsp - Normally used after coming out of a stun or polymorph.

Normal Hit&nbsp - Hits between 170-270 damage.

Once Margol is dead, pick up Margol's Horn off his corpse and accept the quest: The Horn of the Beast.

NOTE:&nbsp There is a Flight Path at Thorium Point located at (37,30). Map

Step 2:&nbsp The Horn of the Beast.

This now requires you to head to Loch Modan.&nbsp You can either head back through the Badlands, or get a flight path.
Once at the Loch Modan flight path, follow the road all the way SW to The Valley of Kings and head to the locked gate to Searing Gorge at the bottom(18,83) and speak with Mountaineer Pebblebitty and complete the quest.

Step 3:&nbsp The Horn of the Beast (Part 2)

The horn you handed in to Mountaineed Pebblebitty she tells you is a fake and she requires you to show it to Curator Thorius in Ironforge, then bring back the Proof of Deed to her.&nbsp
Curator Thorius is located in the Hall of Explorers at the Explorer's League (he wanders back and forth a bit). Talk to him and complete the quest and then accept the new quest from him.&nbsp

Step 4: At Last!

After accepting the new quest, return to Mountaineer Pebblebitty and you will
recieve the Key to Searing Gorge.... At Last!

This quest is the chain that gets you the key to the searing gorge gate in loch modan.&nbsp It actually starts from an item dropped by "Margol the Rager" in southeast Searing Gorge (69,72).&nbsp The item is called&nbsp Margol's Gigantic Horn.&nbsp The chain ends with At Last!

just as a note: Margol the Rager is a 48 elite thunderlizard variation. I couldn't quite solo her at lvl 44, but there won't be any adds - if I had had a full set of scroll or potion buffs, I'd think it is 'doable'. A couple of 40+ melee types could do it at level also, but spell resistances seem pretty high ( I'm a balance-specced Druidess, but did MUCH better against her in feral bear form).

As for getting there, you can go IF -> Loch Modan -> Badlands, hugging the nw side until you hit Kargath. you will have to go through, and will draw aggro. There is a large PvP expiditionary force right where you need to be what worked for me was running around the RIGHT/BACK of the building to drop the aggro of the first guard, then sprinting around the right edge of the whole pack of NPCs in the path out.

After you get past them, just look for an opening on your right. After you come into SG, you will see a hostile camp to your left swing a wide semi-circle around there until you see Tanner's Camp (the alliance-side elemental LW trainer). Margol is up around an s-path there she walks between her cave & that path.

Hope this helps - the co-ords are perfect just a pain to try to find.

oh - one more thing. there IS a flightpath for both All & Horde up in the far nnw of SG you can skirt around the Cauldron to get there. The Alliance side takes you to IF don't know about the Horde yet.

The beast is not immune to fear, but she dishes out gobs of damage between fears.

Strat I used was this:

Started with Voidwalker.
DOTed, Health Funneled my void, Re-DOTed, Health Funnel, Re-DOT (by this time the void is about dead)
Sacrifice void
Fear and Resummon Imp (Succubus would probably be a better choice, but I panicked :P)
Fear/DOT (rinse and repeat)

Had to eat a healthstone and mana pot, and finished with about 100 life left, but she went down :)

This quest isn't pointless or it wouldn't be a quest. Obviously it was put in before the Thorium Point flight path was put in. It's still good xp for an easy quest. The mob you kill to get the quest was easily soloable for me as a level 49 shadow priest.

Soloed the lizard with my 53 mage, embarassing to say how close it was. Counterspell is very useful, ice barrier does almost nothing. Got a rare spawn for my trouble too. Nice to have the xp, and a nice little quest chain that doesn't take 4 hours to complete.

Referring to the 48 Elite lizzard Margol the Rager, coordinates (69,72), vicinity of Tanner Camp, Searing Gorge.

Level 49 Warrior, EU server Nordrassil.

FACTS:
----------
-Armour: 4,721 (Damage reduction 50.8%)
-Hit points: 2,829
-Armed: Shield & Sword of Serenity (Blue sword) with fiery weapon enchant.

I regret to say that the people who posted above claiming to have solo'ed the lizzard in their 40ish, ARE FULL OF SH*T.

Here's how much damage my blue equipped tank received from this "easy elite" while fighting it on Defensive Stance:

2,829 (Hit Points)
&nbsp 876 (Superior Healing potion)
1,104 (Heavy Mageweave Bandage)
&nbsp 849 (Last stand ability)&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp +
---------------------------------------
5,658 hit points of damage

...and something more than that, since I died, and the bloody lizzard still had about 20% health left.

NOTES:

a. Used Shield Wall ability (reduces damage taken by 75% for 10 seconds).
b. Used Defensive Stance (reduces damage taken by 10%)
c. Used Intimidating Shout in order to heal with bandage.
d. Used Last Stand ability (grants 30% of maximum hit points for 20 seconds).
e. I am Protection/Fury specced, including 3rd rank in Fury Tree talent "Blood Craze", which regenerates 3% of total health when being the victim of a critical strike. I received extra healing from Blood Craze which I haven't added here, probably in the neighbourhood of an additional 500 hit points.

------------->CONCLUSION: If you are a normal player, not "l33t", not someone's twink laden with purples at 40ish, and you want to kill the bloody lizzard then bring a friend with you.

I bumped into this thing at level 53 as a paladin and killed it solo with minimal effort.

Its fairly easy to kill once you're a high level that Margol, but before that bringing a friend along isn't a bad idea.

The XP is on this thing is great, and the quests are stupidly easy once Margol is dead so you might as well finish it up for an easy 4000 XP.

I tried this at various times in my career and then forgot all about it-- the THorium Point flightpath is simple and easy to use, certainly more so than running from Loch Modan.

Margol uses lightning as his primary attack, so a single Potion of Nature Resistance made this an easy fight for a L50 Warrior. I don't even think I got to half health. Could have done it at L48, I'm thinking. (Margol was for me a L49 Elite.)

Solo'd as a 44 hunter w/ a 44 cat :D i was down to 200hp on both, then he dropped. Concussive shot kept stunning him while i hammered away. I drank one greater healing potion, as well as feign'd death once in order to pass hate. This is my first time to the Searing Gorge and I was looking for the keyholder for the gate - lol. I couldn't pass up the fight and thought i would die. Luck? Skill?

You get the quest from killing the beast "Margol the Rager" in Searing Gorge. It'll drop the quest item you need. Click the link up there to check his location.

The beast's all alone and there aren't other aggro mobs so it's a clean 1vs1 brawl (assuming you decide to solo it). I solo'ed it as lv46 warlock, not hard at all.
