Hetaera's Bruised Head

Description

She kills my children, mortal. She that calls herself the ruler of these oceans. A false god, nothing more. Crush her and bring back all of her heads.

For that, you will be given the name that you seek and something else of equal importance.

This quest is now kind of unintentionally amusing. Hetaera was originally elite, but certainly no longer is. Meanwhile, the Servants of Arakkoroc, which patrol pretty much the entire water area, are giants about one level lower than Hetaera . . . and still elite. Meaning that any one of them is easily a match for Hetaera herself. In fact, when I first found Hetaera, there was a Servant literally standing on top of her.

I can only assume that the first Commandment of Arakkoroc is "be incredibly lazy and get adventurers to do your work for you", otherwise Hetaera would be a green smear by the time you got there.

On top of that, the Servants - who, naturally, will attack you on sight - are a much larger threat than Hetaera herself. So I'm guessing Arakkoroc has the Hetaera situation well in hand at this point, he just likes giving people annoying missions and then making life hard for them.

"at 56,45 is a place called 'Hetaera's Clutch'...hmm, guess what that is?"

A stone building with no apparent entrance and no Hetaera? She roams in an area north of that.

Good luck finding it )

This is a quest in a chain of 23 that runs pretty much all over the map.
However, it all starts with the Fallen Hero of the Horde.
(Hat tip to Xeir for the initial connectors between chains.)

Technically, it's four chain quests that tie into each other:
Chain 1:
1. Fall From Grace
2. The Disgraced One
3. The Missing Orders
4. The Swamp Talker

Chain 2:
1. Petty Squabbles
2. A Tale of Sorrow
3. The Stones That Bind Us
4. Heroes of Old
5. Heroes of Old

Chain 3:
1. Kirith
2. The Cover of Darkness
3. The Demon Hunter
4. Loramus
5. Breaking the Ward
6. The Name of the Beast
7. The Name of the Beast
8. The Name of the Beast
9. Azsharite

Chain 4:
1. The Formation of Felbane
2. Enchanted Azsharite Fel Weaponry
3. Return to the Blasted Lands
4. Uniting the Shattered Amulet
5. You Are Rakh'likh, Demon

Completing the entire chain gives you the following:
103,685XP at appropriate level
Shard of Afrasa
Enchanted Azsharite Felbane (Dagger, Sword or Staff)
Necklace of Sanctuary
Demon's Blood
Demon Hide Sack

Took her down on small island at 56,44.&nbsp She comes by about every 15 minutes and hangs out for about 2.&nbsp No giants involved if you position yourself on the north side of the swail.&nbsp She hits hard at over 90 dps. Needed the whole bag of tricks including death ray plus extra agility, strength, and armor buffs from potions or scrolls. Took at least 4 minutes.

I soloed this even before i was lvl 60 Warlock.....did it around lvl 55 first time i guess.

With a lock its the same tactic as with all giants.
NOTE: Im a Affliction build up to Dark Pact. Very nice skill to have in these fights.

1.) Make Healthstone and Soulstone just to be sure. Keep your pet on passive and drain mana from it when the time seems right.
2.) Start of match with Fear.
3.) Cast your DOTs on it. If after this its still near you cast new Fear before the old one breaks so it doesnt get chance to hit you
4.) Reapply DOTs when needed. If u want cast Destruction spells. I usually stick to DOTs at the start and at the end start hitting harder.

I have had no problems with this tactic and its never killed me to this day. Its actually easier than the giants since its slower than them. If u dont totally mess up the timing of your Fear or got some bad luck it will never even hit u during match.

I found Hatera at 58/47. I submitted a picture. She has a nasty bite that last for 3 mintues, Physical damage taken is increased by 5, and 15 nature damage every 10 seconds. I soloed this at lvl 60 Nightelf rogue with 1/4 life remaining. I used crippling poison and wound poision.

If you're doing this quest line at level 60 (as most likely will be), Hetaera really isn't too hard. Only a level 55 elite -- as a warlock, I was able to solo via DoTs and chain fearing...not too many mobs in the area to get proximity aggro, after all. Other classes may have an easier or harder time, but worst case just find a warrior (or a healer if you are a warrior) to help you out and the problems will be minimal.

I soloed this with my 53 Warlock Guu on Whisperwind very easily... Just DoT and spam fear, and have your pet run around attacking it. I can't imagine any Warlock or Priest over 53 having trouble with this thing. I guess it just depends on what class you are?

The chipped off rock strategy is amazing-I killed Hetaera without losing ANY health. whenever she came round the right hand side (east) I used 1 fire blast and jumped up, and moved all the way to the top of the pillar. when she came back onto the island, I used a fireball+fire blast and jumped from the top of the pillar in 1 jump back onto the chipped off bit so she came back round again for another fire blast etc.

Be careful not to jump into the water as she might go round the left hand side (west) of the island and reset.

Also, when she comes around the right, she will arrive at you at the chipped off part very quickly. You don't have much time to attack her, which is why I only used fire blast before I jumped back onto the pillar.

the best way (and probably the only way) to kill it as a warlock is slowly...
just fear and dot, fear and dot...
if&nbsp u are demonology use void for -10% melee dmg and DONT send him to hit her or the fear breaks.

Level 60 warrior in blues, prot spec.&nbsp First try got owned hard, since what I (and others) fail to consider is that this isn't one mob, but really 3 mobs.&nbsp Each head will attack, and sometimes all at once.&nbsp The best I was able to manage solo was getting it down to 20%, and that was with last stand and a major healing pot.&nbsp (along with all the other tricks)&nbsp A warrior in better gear could likely solo this, but for the most part you just need to grab a healer class and you'll have no problem with this mob.

Finding her was the hard part.&nbsp She was near an island North of Hetaera's clutch - it has a ruined building half on it, NE of Scalebeard's cave, fairly large.

Sent pet in and nuked, healed pet once, that was it - she's dead.&nbsp &nbsp I'm Tier 1+&nbsp got DS helm and some ZG pieces.

Didn't use any pots, and I was unbuffed.

She surprised me from a small rock when I was under water. Lost that one and used my Lay on Hands. Came back and buffed with every potion and scroll I had (10). Used a mana potion during fight. It's all about the mana. Wish I could use Fear or Kite it but I had to take it like a man. 59 Pally. Only 550-something XP.

Killed her at 56,48.

Not that hard... and not that easy to kill...
lvl 60 Rogue,
Major healing potion
Whipper Root Tuber
Night Dragon's Breath
Thistle Tea
Bandage

Note: Im Seal Fate without Vigor.
1.) Distract her where you think it's the best place to battle her.
2.) Ambush (Didnt try to stun her since it was more of a DPS battle then stun.
3.) Hit Evasion soon as possible and get 5p then Expose Armor.
4.) Get 5p then Cold Blood-Evis. (If you dont have CB, I would go for Slice n' Dice or Rupture)
5a.) Show her the true power of the rogue.... Sinister Strike spam until 4p then Evis.(And continue to do so until the battle ends).
5b.) If your running low on HP, blind her and use a bandage, drink potions... potions potions...

And I had around 2000hp left after the battle...
It's possible to solo... But I realy dont suggest it.. Make sure to have a healer.

I think she's very easy if your 2 people, One damage and one healer.

Yeah,
She swims in the area of the cords 59,43. There is an island there w a giant on it , if you take care of him and wait for her to come on land, much easier. :)
Did with a 59 feral druid, just start out w pounce, rake, mangle, faerie fire, then the combo dot, another mangle, then go bear and switch for pots and sutch , bear again, then if u have to pop frenzied regen. should be ok :)

Solo'ed this as a 54 Feral Druid with 50% health left. Wasn't too bad since it isn't an elite. Just wait until its a good distance away from the other wandering mobs in the area and you'll be fine, might have to pop a pot depending on your class/spec.
