Scourge of the Downs

If you agree to aid Belnistrasz, speak with him again and hand the Oathstone he gave you back to him.
Belnistrasz's Oathstone
Provided Item:
Belnistrasz's Oathstone

Description

Outstanding! My name is Belnistrasz, and I thank you for rescuing me. I had given myself up for dead... or worse, as a meal for these Scourge-infested vermin. Yes - I said Scourge all right; they've brokered some sort of deal with the Quilboar here, and this nightmare is a result.

Listen... rather than just flee, I want to make a difference for all of our sakes. Would you be up to helping me out to that end? It's probably dangerous, but you seem to be the type not to worry about that too much.

This quest isn't the escort quest yet. Everyone can safely accept and finish this quest. After finishing this one you will be offered to accept the actual escort quest (Extinguishing the Idol: https://classicdb.ch/?quest=3525). Make sure everyone in your party has finished this quest before accepting the escort.

It is an escort quest within the Downs, at the prison cells just before you get to the skeleton boss.

I'm sorry but this is a stupid stupid STUPID way to handle this quest, you have to talk to him 3 times practactly to get it started and SOME moron in the group always talks to him 3 times in a before everyone else finishes the first part of the "HERE IS A STONE NOW FED EX RIGHT BACK TO ME! SO PART OF YOUR GROUP MISSES THE QUEST!" it allways happens, why dont they just make it a single chat one time quest thing, so much easier on everyone.. so retarded..

I think the whole Dragon oathstone bit is a pretty neat concept. And if I'm not mistaken, there's at least two other oathstones in the game from both the Green and Blue Dragonflights.

He's in the Murder Pens, in a cell near the cook/alchemist.

The fastest way to get there would probably be to turn right, fight your way through the undead, and then make a U-turn once you've reached the beginning of the spiral.

Little bug eh?

We had 3 about 40 lvl guys doing this, and the other two died pretty soon, and i used FD. The mobs stopped attacking Belnistrasz and I just lied down the 3 mins while mobs kept spawning.

The only thing was that i didnt know he dropped something that would end the quest, so i just ran off after Belnistrasz vanished cause there was so much mobs.

You just talk to him again and it starts an escort type quest where he eventually stops kinda towards the entrance and spawns many waves of mobs over 5 minutes.

Some ppl forget to turn in the quest to the brazier. Well... they have to get another party, escort the guy and defend him. However, I think this quest cannot be shared. So, whoever speaks to the prisoner first will get the quest. Of course you can turn in later, if you forgot for the first time. just let someone else speak with the guy. He is near that bone pile where are loads of skeletons are dancing...

Ripped through it with:

40 warrior
42 pally
39 druid
38 warlock
40 warlock&nbsp

Half the group didn't manage to get the quest.&nbsp There are three steps.&nbsp Clear out the mobs to the room near the entrance first.&nbsp Accept the quest he gives you.&nbsp Then you have to "complete" it by handing him back an item he gives you.&nbsp Then talk to him again to get the escort quest.&nbsp (If one person in the group accepts it, everyone else who has handed back the item will be asked if they want to join the quest.)&nbsp Then when you've followed him and fought off the waves of mobs (three minutes worth, conserve mana) and the quest shows as complete, touch the low brazier in the front of the room to get the ring.

Our group wiped towards the end of our first attempt at this quest... and noticed something strange during our second (successful) run:

Those mobs actually seemed to spawn more quickly when we killed them more quickly...!

During our first (wiped) attempt, I counted at least 7 waves of about four baddies each before Belnistrasz gave his Halftime Yell... but in our second (successful) run, there were only 4-maybe-5 waves. It was as though the quest authors just wanted to make sure you could never leave combat mode... by triggering the spawn of a new mob whenever the old mob was "mostly dead"...?

Anybody else notice this?

Well, we let this guy out of the holding cell and went to the idol. We were being attacked by waves of mobs and mobs, and by the end when he said the ritual was finished we wiped. When i checked my log it said (completed) but when i got back to the ido, it said i had to protect him. I though i finished it but i didnt :((, but the good thing is we finished the whole instance and i got a nice cape :)).

Belnist is in one of the prison pens near the undead boss in the middle of the instance. Not the world boss at the END of the instance but the skelly boss.

You can also get a cooking recipe from another allied mob in another pen.

not true actually all you need to do is make sure that each person completes the first quest of giving him the stone before starting the quest of guarding him, as long as they all do that first you can do it for everyone at once, we ended up doing it twice because one person didn't speak up that he didn't give the stone yet

Once you find the giant Gong and move more inside the instance, there is a road to the left that goes up to a rising, that has a bridge to the right ( the bridge crosses above the road you were following if you had not taken the left to get to the rising ).

Up there in the end you will see a few caves that has some wooded baricades in front of them.
Inside there are 2 ppl.

1) Will teach you Thistle tea and thats it

2) Will start the quest that wants you to escort him and extinguish the Idol.

BE SURE to have AlREADY cleard the road back to the idol room ( In theory you should have to get there, but depends on which entrance of the instace you came from ).

Be very carefull and I would suggest you do this Q last since it is WAY hard for the stated lvl.

Also bear in mind that the quest must be done INDIVIDUALLY for everyone. So if 5 ppl in the party want the ring reward, you must do it 5 times all over again...
