Dark Iron Legacy

Slay Fineous Darkvire and recover the great hammer, Ironfel. Take Ironfel to the Shrine of Thaurissan and place it on the statue of Franclorn Forgewright.
Ironfel

Description

You will find Fineous Darkvire beyond the Ring of Law, in the Hall of Crafting. Kill the miserable cur and recover Ironfel.

Take Ironfel to the Shrine of Thaurissan and place the hammer in its rightful place: In the hands of the statue erected in my honor.

When this is done, the compartment in which I stored the master key will open. More importantly, Ironfel will remain forever in my grasp. Should they make an attempt to remove the hammer; both the statue and hammer will shatter, lost forever.

Here's how you get to Fineous:

1) Go into BRD (duh).

2) Go straight, clear your way to the path directly in front of you- this is the path that runs almost perfectly east/west along the southern side of the Arena.

3) Go into the Arena and do the event. This will make the spectators at the top of the Arena (you'll be there in a second) passive.

4) Go out the arena exit, it's to your left as you walk into the arena. You'll find yourself in a room with some DI Dwarves and some fire elementals.

5) On the right there will be stairs/a ramp leading up to the spectator area of the arena. Walk to the other side of the arena, DO NOT ATTACK THE SPECTATORS.

6) At the other end of the arena go down the ramp. Going right will take you to the statue you turn Ironfel in at. Head left to get to Fineous after crossing through a few rooms first. He's in the room with the large stone golems and the non-elite dwarves. He pats up and down the ramp.

7) After you kill him head back the way you came, go past the entrance to the arena and continue on to the statue that is just around the corner.

It should be noted that the "few rooms first" mentioned in the excellent steps is actually in the area on the upper level surrounding Lord Incendras.

You will go through the domicile and out into a half circle area with a short railing as the border. If you go to this railing and look down, you'll see Lord Incendras pacing about.

Once you enter this area, you'll see two exits on the right hand wall, take the last one and you'll find the golem room.

It isn't exactly a straight shot to him.

The fight with him was pretty easy as I solo'd with a lvl 69 demo warlock, but he still gave me a run for my money. He can heal himself and he has a lot of starting health.

Obviously as stated so far, get the quest by being a ghost and visiting the tomb to talk to the questgiver.&nbsp
  • Once you have the quest, enter the instance and clear the large room with the 3-dog patrols and dwarves to make your way straight across.&nbsp
  • Make your first left in the next hallway to enter the arena.&nbsp You will fight several Kodo-type beasts (sheepable) and a named insect/arachnid.&nbsp Once this is complete, you will have turned the mobs above non-aggressive.&nbsp
  • Go through the west tunnel and up the stairs.&nbsp
  • At the top, turn to your right and you'll see another flight of stairs to you right.&nbsp
  • Go up those stairs and you'll enter the spectator area of the arena.&nbsp
  • Go around the arena and exit the other side.&nbsp
  • In here clear your way to a small flight of stairs that lead down and proceed out (don't go up the other flight).&nbsp
  • Ahead, take a left (to the right is the statue that you turn in Ironfel to) and cross a bridge where you'll be ambushed by 2 dwarves.&nbsp
  • Kill the remaining 2 fire elementals and proceed.&nbsp
  • To the right is the vault (if you have 11 Relic Coffer Keys in your party you can complete "Heart of the Mountain").&nbsp
  • The 2nd right is where Fineous Darkvire is.&nbsp He walks around so kill the golems and dwarves until you make your way to him.&nbsp Loot him for Ironfel.&nbsp
  • Now backtrack past the vault, across the bridge, and go straight.&nbsp You'll run into two camps of mobs and see the statue ahead.&nbsp
Gratz!&nbsp You now have the Shadowforge Key.

you turn in the quest right behind the boss Pyromancer Loregrain.

After finishing the arena (aka ring of law ><) boss, go up the new tunnel that opens up, then turn right and you'll be on top of the arena, go around the arena to the other side, then take a right and he'll be right there.

Check some map for pyromancer loregrain if you cant find where to turn in this quest.

Retrace your steps back to the entrance of the instance.&nbsp Now, as if you had just entered the instance, run straight across the "Detention Block" to the "Halls of Law".&nbsp Your first left in the "Halls of Law" will lead you to the "Ring of Law".&nbsp In&nbsp the "Ring of Law" you will fight some mobs (AOE will help).&nbsp Exit the "Ring of Law" to the west.&nbsp This leads up a corridor to the "East Garrison".&nbsp As you approach the door, hug the wall TIGHT around a 180 turn up some more stairs.&nbsp You will probably aggro a few mobs doing that.&nbsp The stairwell leads to the upstairs of the "Ring of Law" where the spectators are.&nbsp Exit this part to the north to the "Shrine of Thaurissan".&nbsp Turn right and the shrine is at the end of the hall.

I was in a group that had the key and opened the doors and we killed Fineous Darkvire and I got Ironfel, but then the group fell apart after that. I then tracked down where the statue was and managed to get the key solo! I'm a 60 Hunter. Here is how I did it (although I don't recommend this for anyone, it took me over an hour to get it right):

Enter instance, go through prison gate on the left, then the prison gate on the right, then the door on the left (since these were all opened by someone in the group). Head up the stairs and straight up the next stairs and this takes you to the arena spectator area. You need to get to the other side. You just hug the inner ledge and you won't aggro any of the spectators.

You come to an entrance to a hallway with six mobs in your way and an Elemental on patrol. You need to go right, as the statue is at the end of that hallway. Wait for the Elemental to go left down the hallway (use Track Elementals). Get kinda close to the mobs hugging the right wall, put pet on Stay, then make sure Cheetah is off so you don't get dazed, then cast Eyes of the Beast (EotB) and have your pet aggro the group and run off down the hall left to the other mob group. Then cancel EotB (by sitting down) and run to the opposite wall just between these mobs and the ones on the right of them and Feign Death (FD) - seems you always aggro one mob but less of chance for resist this way. Make sure you don't FD within their aggro radius.

Then get out of FD, jump on top of the fire brazier and to the back of that ledge, Revive Pet, set to Stay, heal up, mend pet, wait for Elemental pat to come and go, then do the same thing mentioned before with the next group of mobs. Make sure while using EotB you get aggro so they all follow your pet, take your pet down to that first group of mobs and cancel (sit down) and hug the wall to just before the final three mobs and FD.

Now comes the easy part hehe. Get out of FD, revive pet, feed pet, mend pet, heal and mana up, place a Freezing Trap, range attack closest mob and they'll run into trap, have pet aggro the other two mobs and when they're no longer hitting you, loot the statue and complete the quest! Woohoo! One Shadowforge Key. Then of course you die.

Like I said before, I don't really recommend this to anyone, but I had a lot of fun doing it. Now who was it that said Rogues get all the fun? Hehe.

I would just like to note that this isn't really shareable. In the first part of this quest that you talk to the guy while dead, he has you immediately talk to him again, and puts you on a new part of the quest. If the people in the group didn't talk to the dead guy you will not be able to share with them

a little misleading for those that are going back through and doing some of the old world content

So easy that you are probably missing it.&nbsp :)

The turn in is down the hall to your right after the Ring of Law on the way to the Shadowforge City.&nbsp As the quest states, it is a statue of the dwarf and it requires Ironfel which drops from the guy that an above poster states is in Shadowforge City.

Can anyone give more information on where to find the NPC that drops the Ironfel?&nbsp We get past the Ring of Law and into Shadowforge City, but we did not have time to explore that well.&nbsp Is it fairly linear but just a LOT of NPCs to fight to get to him?

It's easy for rogues and druid to stealth there. He's in the room right behind Incendius, therefore any walkthrough on soloing Incendius can be used to get to him. I can stealth to him with the shadowforge key in less than 5 minutes with virtually no risk.

With or without the key you can do it with a stealth team (rogues and druids).

Without the key:
Just stealth into the arena (straight across the first circular room). Dogs can see through stealth but at 60 this just means you have to be wary of the patrols a little. Once you're in the arena everyone get up off the the arena floor proper, on the curved rock section to the right as you enter. One person step on the grate in the middle to start the event and then join the others fast (all stealth). Now just wait. Once the spawns have been around awhile the gate to the left of where you entered opens regardless of whether you've fought, go through there and...

With or without a key:
...you enter the same room you can get to with the key after opening the two gates and the door from the beginning, the one with the big gear in the lower area of the room. Don't activate the big gear, you don't need to do it to get to fineous and it can make exiting the instance at the end harder. So from the gear room stealth down the hallway (if you find yourself in the circular arena again you went the wrong way) and when you get to the "dead end" jump out the window to your right, the one with cannons pointing out of it. Hop down, then follow the platform towards the elemental guards, keep going past incendius (although I highly recommend killing him too, he's cake for more than one person and drops FR gear, just be wary of getting knocked back into the lava) and tadaa! There's fineous standing in the next room. He looks like he stays there but it you wait a looong time he patrols which gives you the chance to clear the adds around him.

He does hit like a truck, hard to take him out with less than 3 60s. Me and another 60 druid couldn't do it although I think it's doable, got him to less than 50% but then lagged to death in the end.

Turning in requires that you backtrack all the way to the gear room. Without the key this is not possible since you jumped out the window so I suggest everyone just get naked and jump in the lava. Once you're in the gear room keep taking the stairways up and you will be on the spectator level. circle around, and exit via the matching stairway on the other side. Hang a right, go all the way to the end of the hallway and jump up on the fire stand on the LEFT (jump on it by approaching from in front of the statue, you will have to get pretty close to some mobs to do this and the jump timing is irritating but keep trying and you'll get up). You will find that you can go behind the statue on the left side! Get back as far as you can and you can unstealth and click on the statue to turn in without any aggro. Gratz you got your key u da bomb.

Just enter BRD, skip the Detention block and enter the Ring of Law. After the event, go up to the Garrison. If you are there, turn around ant take the stairs up, left of the entrace you came in. Walk the upper area of Ring of Law and you will see some enemies in the next hallway. Kill them and look right, there is the Monument. But go left now and enter Shadowforge City. Enter the first house and fight your way to the stairway down. If you move on, you will see Incendius on a platform below. Walk the whole half ring there and enter the last room, not the Vault! Kill the golem, the first group of engineers and golems and the patrolling golem. You will see Fineous Darkvine. Just wait there. Once in 5 mins he will patrol up all the stairs and check anvils or something. This is the time to kill him. Attack him and disturb his heals, he will drop Ironfel. Now get all the way back to the Monument, described earlier and kill the elites and RARE in front of it. Use the statue and the key, and some money, is yours!

If you are lvl 70, you can solo it i think, I can, but I think you won't need anything there.

You can turn it in solo as a rogue.&nbsp Stealth up to the statue (across the arena upper level, down the steps on the east side of the arena, make a right turn go to the end of the hall...)
When you see the two flame pots, sneak over to the left side, and face the fire pot and the upper level that the statue sits on.&nbsp Back up a step and then jump forward.&nbsp You should be able to walk behind the statue from here.&nbsp First, pop a distract to make everyone look away form the statue (center it behind the flame elemental guy so you get bothe twilight elites turned around) and run back to behind the statue and activate it.&nbsp Continue and end the quest you will get your key and some cash.&nbsp Stealth before the distract wears off and walk out.

Me, (lvl 59, several greens, combat spec) and another rogue, (60, mostly blues, also combat spec), duo'd the mob that drops the hammer necessary for the key.&nbsp Using Zero260's excellent instructions we got to a room with tons of "Wrath hammer Constructs" We killed the one that is by the top of the ramp, (ramp goes down north from the door, then takes a 90 degree turn west, again heading down, then takes another 90 degree turn south creating an up side down U.&nbsp You will enter on the right side of the upside down U)&nbsp There are also some dwarven workers in an alcove to the right, 3, be careful not to aggro them when killing the first stationary Construct, as they hit hard even though non elite.&nbsp

After you kill the dwarves, there is a patrolling Construct.&nbsp Kill him, and now you should have most of the right part of the upside down U to yourselves (the part before it begins to turn into a ramp)&nbsp Look across, and you should see Fineous Darkvire at the bottom of the left side of the upside down U.&nbsp He will stand there for quite a while, but eventually if you wait, (5-10 minutes by my estimate, its a while, be patient)&nbsp He walks up the ramp to where you cleared the stationary, and patrolling construct, and the dwarven workers.&nbsp Here you begin your battle.&nbsp

I cant say exactly the best way to beat him, but basically my buddy got aggro first, and we brought him down as far as possible.&nbsp He used evasion and a major health pot.&nbsp After he was close to death, he vanished leaving me with the aggro.&nbsp I used evasion and blade flurry, and got down close to death.&nbsp I kidney shotted him and popped a major health potion.&nbsp then after we downed him, we looted the mallet and got outta there =D

Second part of the quest was going to the statue to finish the quest.&nbsp There are 5 mobs guarding the statue, 2 elites, (flame guard, and twilight something or other, and 3 dwarven peasents)&nbsp Best way to do this would be to duel sap the elites, (providing both have IMP SAP.)&nbsp Seeing as I wasnt specced with it, we chose the sure fire way out, I put on evasion, and sprint in stealth, then sapped one of the elites, and ran like hell drawing the aggro away from the statue.&nbsp The other rogue, clicked on the statue, and turned in the quest getting the key.&nbsp Remember there are 2 "continues" before you actually finish the quest.&nbsp so do a rapid fire before your pal dies, and the mobs run back.&nbsp (the runner prob will die, i died even after i did a vanish, you aggro like 3 groups)

From the Ring of Law ("upstairs" when there crowd is). If you enter from the archway to the on the west side, directly across from you and on the top is another archway. You have to make your way over to it via killing the crowd (unless you did the ring of law event, they turn yellow).

Once you get over there, you enter the Shrine of Thaurissan (it's an area, not a true shrine object)

Kill the mobs and the patrols and turn right (headed south). Near the end is the statue of Franclorn. Pyromancer Loregrain (a rare spawn) has a chance to pop right in front of it.

A guide to the monument:
Enter the instance open the door to your left. Then the next one on your right and then the other one on your left again. Take the stairs up and then go straight on to the stairs leading up. Go around the stands and you will find the stairs leading down. Go down to the room and then right all the way. The "Monument of Franclorn Forgewright" is @ the end of the room.

Thats the path... you need to go with a group unless you are a rogue. You must do the arena event to make Neutral the people on stands. As a rogue level 57 i stealthed all the way and then i went back of the "Monument of Franclorn Forgewright" and i completed the quest without aggroing the mobs.
