A Taste of Flame

Travel to Blackrock Depths and slay Bael'Gar.

You only know that the giant resides inside Blackrock Depths. Remember to use the Altered Black Dragonflight Molt on Bael'Gar's remains to capture the Fiery Essence.

Return the Encased Fiery Essence to Cyrus Therepentous.

Encased Fiery Essence
Provided Item:
Altered Black Dragonflight Molt

Description

I wish to taste the searing flames of the mountain of fire. To let the molten fires of Blackrock cascade across my being. That essence, that searing heat, it is what I crave.

Bael'Gar resides in the Depths of Blackrock: A being of pure flame, born of the fires of Ragnaros. Slay Bael'Gar and from his smoldering remains bring for me a piece of his inner fire.

Use the molt on his remains to safely extract the inner flame.

Succeed and be rewarded.

Please remember to use the altered black dragonflight molt on his body before you move on. With all the looting etc it's easy to forget.

Just stand in his corpse and right click the item in your backpack.

Cyrus Therepentous is located in the Burning Steppes, at loc 95.31, into a remote cave in the NE named Slither Rock.

No Mobs guards this place, except for a couple of Black Broodling (lvl 51 Dragonkin) and a Black Drake (lvl 52 Elite Dragonkin) wandering around this place that You can easily dodge.

Yeah, thanks Pumped, your method does work well. Some other methods give decent results, but I would have to say that yours is the best. A few times I went with the left click method, instead of right click, which was decent, but not AS good. And then one time I was standing on him, and right clicked, but instead I used my hearthstone, which gave results kinda in between the other two methods. So I agree with fluxdragon, that of the various potential methods, yours is the best.

EDIT: I kinda wish that downranked comments wouldn't be removed. Now my sarcastic humor looks like the ramblings of an insane man.

For anyone who doesn't know how to find Bael'gar:

After entering the instance, head through the locked door on your left (using the Shadowforge Key, or a skilled Rogue) and kill the fire elemental that patrols the hallway. Continue in this direction to the Dark Iron Highway, and turn left. Bael'gar is the gigantic dude at the end of the highway. Be sure to clear the groups around him, because he's kind of tough AND he summons adds of his own.

I had 60-days played between my two 60's before I ever bothered to kill Bael'Gar.&nbsp He's simply not on the way to anything, is a pain to get to with a group, is impossible to solo without uber gear, and would be moderately hard even with a stealth group, they're not the right classes for killing him ... well maybe with 2 druids (tank + healer) and a rogue it would work.

If you do want to kill Bael'Gar here's my experience:

My priest friend and my hunter duo him all the time for shards, but the priest has difficulty getting to him without aggroing things so he's not even worth farming for shards.&nbsp Probably a hunter + druid(healer) would be the best duo for this guy.&nbsp The hunter has to pick up the adds that spawn though.&nbsp The druid just has to keep the pet alive.

If you run to the wall behind him when you first aggro him, you wont have to fight any of the pats or mobs in the area.&nbsp That makes killing him a lot faster because the packs of 5 elites that roam around are much harder than BaelGar.

For a level 50-something quest that makes you run all around and kill stuff that noone ever kills (Bael'Gar) the rewards for this quest aren't worth the inventory nor quest space they take up.&nbsp

To think I've had the molt in my inventory for a couple of months thinking I was saving it for something good.&nbsp What a waste.

As an engineer (pally) without the shadowforge key I used a large seaforium charge which successfully opened the gate. I also managed quite easily to avoid every single mob and run straight up to Bael'Gar. Granted he did whoop my ass, as I went solo at lvl 62. I thought i'd have no problem against him but he's quite a tough one!

Bael'Gar remains decay rapidly.&nbsp If you die, and are not rezzed, you do not have time to run back from cemetery.&nbsp Make sure you have Warlock with stone on you, or a paladin who survives the fight, or you will not complete the quest if you die.&nbsp I guess this is mostly for priests, who get our hides handed to us repeatedly in this hall, even with max threat reduction, including blessing of salvation.

killed him 4-man, 2 60s 2 56s, could be done with 3 60s, we didnt come close to dying, watch out for the 3 mobs that come out after he dies, u usually cant see em underneath his body, so b rdy for em (not too big a deal, only lvl 50s, non elites)

This seems to be a pretty crappy reward - particularly if you did the whole chain. If you just started with killing the dragon, well.....you wasted less time.....for the same crappy reward. No faction gained, dont bother with this quest.
