Description

See Larion over there? It's HIS fault we're here!

I told him we were going the wrong way, but would he listen? And would you believe that he's the one that won't speak to me? Well, until he changes his mind, let's have a bit of fun with him.

Have you noticed the strange plant-like creatures around here? They're nothing but trouble, really, but I think if trained properly, I could get them to obey commands.

First thing though, I'll need some samples to study. Do you think you could collect some?

Tedious with a capital "T"! I slugged away at this quest off-and-on for over a week. The only critters that I found much success with were the Bloodpetal Lashers. They had about a 25% drop rate and that was the best I could find. I found a good supply of them in the Northeast section (1:00 to 2:00 position on the map) or around 68,22.

I killed approximately 225 Trappers at and around 38,38 the droprate is far from 90% in fact it is almost exactly 7% at that location I got 2 for every 30 I killed.&nbsp I'm not making this up since with cosmos you can now see the exact droprate that you have experienced, and I would think that after getting 15 Bloodpetals at a 2/30 droprate that I would have a significant sample size.&nbsp

I found a possibly better location a little further north at 40,23 I do not know the droprate on these since I got to them when I had 14/15 Bloodpetals, but they are Trappers and there are a lot of them in a much smaller proximity as opposed to the nightmarishly far apart ones at 38,38.&nbsp Here's hoping they drop decent, even if they don't you'll fare better than you would at 38,38.&nbsp

Please keep in mind guys that if you kill one and get one drop, the droprate is not 100%.&nbsp Or say you got 12/15 by killing somewhere with a really low droprate, then you decided to check somewhere else, you kill 4 more and get your last 3.&nbsp This doesn't mean the droprate on the new place/enemy is 75%, it could just mean you got lucky.&nbsp

As most people know, this quest is the beginning of a short chain which ends with a Sunken Temple quest.&nbsp Keep in mind that Sunken Temple is intended for characters from their mid-40s to early 50s.

There are a couple problems with what should have been a simple collect quest:

1)&nbsp Seems like the only Bloodpetal that drops the quest items at a DECENT droprate are Bloodpetal Trappers.&nbsp There aren't many of them.

2)&nbsp The Trappers that are around, are sprinkled in heavily packed zones.&nbsp You pretty much have to watch your back at all times to make sure some random Ooze or Pterodox doesn't jump you.&nbsp This slows the process of collecting them.&nbsp I was killing more of these things just to get to the 1 or 2 Trappers I saw.

3)&nbsp And just when you thought it was difficult enough, there are numerous level 56-60 Elite T-Rex that roam the very same area as the Bloodpetal Trappers.&nbsp I'd understand if there was 1 T-Rex terrorizing the area, but thus far, I've counted nearly 4.&nbsp Not to mention, if you go south of the Trappers, toward the Lake, there are more elite mobs with pets.

All in all, this quest is a !@#$%.&nbsp But it's something you should do, if you need the ST quest Haze of Evil.

Good luck!

The sprouts which are picked up on the ground are for a different quest.&nbsp This one you have to fight the flowers to get them. Did find that the area around 70,31 which someone mentioned earlier was better drop rate there on the thrashers.&nbsp Still not great but better.&nbsp I had been killing these things off and on for days not seen the flower drop, then I went to this area and got 4 off of the first 10 that I killed.&nbsp good luck and watch out for Devilasaur.

When I see comments about drop rates like this, I just abandon the quest and move on. So I miss a quest in ST, so what. I'm here to have a bit of fun, not be bored to death killing the same things over and over that can't even put up a decent fight.

I think I'll go collect some tar for that nice goblin in Gadgetzan. I understand the drop rate there is great! <joke>

I've found that along the eastern edge of the Lakkari Tar Pits, south of the Fungal Rock is the best place to get the bloodpetals.&nbsp There are tons of the flower elementals walking around and very few other creatures to worry about sneaking up on you!&nbsp I got all 15 petals with 23 kills, but I didn't concentrate only on one type of flower... I just killed everything, threshers and lashers. =D&nbsp Hope this helps, happy questing!

I am still working on this quest, the drop rate is awful and the poison damage will hinder your pace more than anything else. 5100 xp can very well be gained in just a few minutes by quest-grinding other mobs in the zone. If you really want to do this questline then do it at levels 52-53 and kill the level 48 mobs.

I thought -- might as well get atal'ai haze, I'm going to the ST (again) anyway, this time for my class quest... *ugh* I had never bothered with this quest on any prior character and now I know it was an excellent decision :P The drop rate was horrific, on all the mobs, tried the ones suggested, the rate improved a bit but not as much as it ought to have as such, it really was several hours of sheer tedium. Ah well, I ended up collecting enough green and yellow crystals to make several dozen restores.. and I levelled, although I think this quest is best solo'ed. With a friend, it feels as if it's taking a million more years, even when it really isn't. But I did it with a friend nonetheless, and hey, it's more social -- having someone to talk to while grinding is a good thing.

Off to Gregan and so forth to complete it and then watch the funny ending it is cute, I've seen it before - then to the ST for the 5th time (there's another instance that is a pain - at least until you get to the bosses downstairs, the whole "in here, out here, click here, now there, run around, now that way" isn't fun... and it's time consuming.

Oh, in the ST don't overlook the slugs.. one dropped the epic Icemail Jerkin the other day, we were all rather astonished ) One happy Shammy got it and we all cheered the slugs, yay for the epic slugs, lol.

Other than that, I actually like Jurassic Park, not all the quests are tedious and it's a good place to spend upper 40's/very low 50's with good exp and lots to kill... skinner's heaven, and not bad for miners either or herbalists. All in all a decent zone that I quite enjoy wouldn't mind a small inn (the cave? ) and mailbox, although gadget is quite close, and at least we have a flight path there now.

5100xp at lvl49. Actually turning in this quest lvld me to 50. :)

The drop rate wasn't... well, it was less than average, but with rxp you get 500-600xp per kill, so overall you get lots of XP for this quest considering you're killing mobs. I certainly didn't mind. :)

If you are also collecting soil samples then this isn't quite as bad. You can combine these, because the plants also drop the soil.

fyi...

In fact, The Super Sticky quest, Muigin and Larion, and Un'Goro Soil can all be done together and you get good xp for the mobs and the turn in. Also I got blue "Wyrmslayer Spaulders (403 armor, 12 STR, 8 AGI, 12 STA)" off the first tar pit elemental I killed.

Yeah.. bit boring, but I rate these high.. at least at my level (48 Hunter)

Yiano has the right idea.

You spend a decent amount of time in Un'Goro Crater and there are Bloodpetal mobs across the entire zone spanning 48-53. Instead of just zerging through the quest for 15 in one sitting, pace it and kill them between other quests and the poor drop rate won't seem so noticeable.

I found the drop rate to be about even between the lashers and threshers in the NE corner (beware the great white devilsaur). However, I think it is worth noting that Lashers have a few special moves that make killing them a little slower for melee classes. The two I disliked was their Lash (knocks you down, stuns a few seconds) and their disarm.

Threshers only poison and were therefore a faster kill for me than the Lashers.

The poison is a pain, and if you can dispel it you should as quickly as possible as it also drains mana.
