A Sample of Slime...

Gather Felwood Slime Samples from any of the slimes in Felwood. Then, using the Testing Equipment next to Chemist Fuely in Undercity, see which of your samples are the most corrupt. Bring 5 of the Corrupted Felwood Samples you find to Chemist Fuely.

Description

Felwood is a forest far north of the Barrens, even farther than Ashenvale. There, slimes are found all around pools of water blessed by the touch of Fel. The Scourge decimated the area with attacks of Infernals and other demonic magics--the slimes supposedly crept up through the earth during these attacks.

Gather samples of Felwood slimes and we will use the testing equipment next to me to create a control group for our tests against other samples you gather.

All the oozes and slimes I encountered had 100% drop rate for the samples. I gathered 20, just to be on the safe side, and had more than enough.

Back in UC, there are two testing bowls on the table. Use the green one for the Un'Goro samples, and the red one for the Felwood samples.

Once you have enough samples for the quest, test your remaining samples. Between the two testing quests, I managed to pull out some decent herbs and a stack of Superior Healing Potions.

After you turn in the quest, you can no longer use the testing equipment.

Got 20 samples and as I returned to UC to check them I barely got the 5 items needed... Had no spare samples afterwards.
Based on my experience I'd recommend to get at least 30.

Btw... the duplicate item message appears because you haven't "opened" the analyzed sample. A sample from the slimes turns into an analyzed sample. Then you open the analized sample and check if the needed quest item is in there.

There is no bug, gravedanger has just ridden too many short buses.&nbsp I just completed both of these and ran into no problems.

While the Un'Goro samples took more than the Felwood, it also seems to be the luck of the draw based on other's experiences.

The worst I got with the Felwood samples was 1:6.&nbsp The worst for the Un'Goro was 1:10.&nbsp I ended out using I think 15 for the Felwood samples.

Use this info as you will.&nbsp Better to have more samples than necessary so you don't have to make the trip back.

Lastly, there are some nice items yielded from those samples (superior healing pots for example), so don't turn the quest in until you've tested all the samples.&nbsp After you turn the quest in, the bowls on the table become unusable.

Normally takes about ten samples to get all the quest samples you need, but I'd get fifteen anyway just to be on the safe side. If you want to be extra careful, go with twenty. You won't need any more than that unless you have extremely bad luck.

For Felwood Slime...I initially brought 15 and got only 2 good results...the rest were decomposed boots and old skulls.&nbsp Brought 24 more and after 19 I was good.&nbsp Guess its the luck of the draw.&nbsp I did get a few good potions and some alchemy supplies, as well as the scroll of protection III.&nbsp Just Gotta keep at it.

I found this one easier than the Un'Goro samples, I got my 5 bottles within 10 samples. The Un'Goro one required over 20 samples. I guess it just depends on how lucky you are.

took me about 30 had to make 2 trips because 20 isnt enough.&nbsp easy enough to get think it was 100% drop off the slimes.. might as well grab 40 while your there.

After you use the chem set on the table for one sample, then you have to look in your bag and slick on the sample to get what's in it...i think some people aren't doing this part, and getting the "duplicate" message. Hope this clears that part up for some.

Don't know that this quest was really worth it, at least when I completed it (level 52). 5100 exp. not a lot at that level esp. considering the travel time. It's not difficult but it's time-consuming and all I got was junk. 39 samples collected, here's what I got:

I brought 25 and needed 6. If you test a Felwood Slime Sample you get a Corrupt Tested Sample in return. You can open it with right-clicking. As far as I can see you always get some grey items too. I also got a Scroll of Agility III so it can yield whiet items too and who knows green items?

Btw, I stood really, really close to the testing thing as suggested above, maybe that's why I have the perfect 5 out of 6 score? It's the red small bottle btw, the other one is for un-goro slime quest.

I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I was standing about one body length away from the table, and failed 12 times in a row.&nbsp I moved right up against the table, and got all 5 I needed the next 5 samples I tried.&nbsp *shrug*

At first I had that duplicate item trouble too, but then I figured out what to do.

I had 15 samples, both from Un'Goro and Felwood, and got none quest items. From 30 samples, no quest items. It sucks.

Having collected 26 bottlesim felwood I went to UC Fuely.
Clicked the red dish on his table got nothing.tried many times, every conceivable way - nothing!
Is it a bug? Am I doing something wrong? Cuely is still a grey question mark

I had 23 samples and tested 14 to get my 5.&nbsp I tested all of them and the only decent thing I got from testing was one Firebloom that only sells for 50 silver in AH.&nbsp Would have rather had a potion but I wasn't going back to kill more slimes :)

Handed in other quest (ooze) with no problem, now that I have slime I am unable to get the testing equipment to work, have 22 samples but when I click on the testing equipment it just gives me the description, not the test option like the other quest.&nbsp Have even tried standing on table lol, not sure where the bug is, had no problems testing, opening and cashing in identical quest.

I brought 31, and made 5 in the first 7. Along with the corrupted samples I got a variety of slime loot drops including broken arrowheads, bones, skulls and flowers so sell off before you start testing.

There are two burners there. One for the Felwood samples, one for Ungoro Crater samples. Use the red one.

Think Blizz has actually improved the drop rate with the recent patches.

I just went to Felwood last night, got 18 samples and out of the first six, I already had 5 of the required samples which I cld turn in.

FeverQuest was right, you go to Chemist Cruely in Undercity, right next to him, there are two pot like things. One if red and the other is green. For the Felwood samples, click on the red pot. Once you click it, you receive a tested sample which automatically goes into your inventory. You would have to right click on that sample in your inventory to receive the loot. And amongst the loot will be some grey/white items and a corrupted sample that you can turn in.

A good place to grind for the samples would be at the entrance of Jaedenar. There is usually a few groups of tainted ooze mobs that spawn around the entrance to Jaedenar.

Mobs levels are around 51-52.

To save on time, you can pick up another quest Forces of Jaedenar ((Quest #5155) which requires you to kill Jaedenar mobs around the same area. These mobs can be a lil harder than the ooze mobs though.

I was able to finish the quest at lvl 51 as a solo warrior.

I had 30 samples after 16 got all the corrupted samples..did a few more to get their drops..then stopped and turned in quest..then went to do more sample..not an option anymore
