Melding of Influences

Bring a Merged Ooze Sample to Chemist Fuely in Undercity.
Merged Ooze Sample
Provided Item:
Encased Corrupt Ooze

Description

Here is some encased ooze created from the Felwood samples you recovered. Take the case to Un'Goro Crater and find a pure ooze... the primal variety will do nicely. When you get close enough, release the ooze in the case, and let us see what the two think of one another.

After the experiment concludes, bring me a sample of whatever is left over. I will await you here in the Apothecarium.

Okay. Here is what I did after receiving the quest.

1.) I went to Un'Goro Crater.
2.) I found a "Primal Ooze" (/tloc 44,24)
3.) I let the "Primal Ooze" start attacking me.
4.) I released the "Encased Corrupt Ooze"
5.) The "Corrupt Ooze" merged with the "Primal Ooze" and became a "Gargantuan Ooze
6.) I killed the "Gargantuan Ooze".
7.) I looted the "Gargantuan Ooze" and got a "Merged Ooze Sample"
8.) I returned to the Undercity and talked with Fuely and he gave me 7050 XP.

There. Simple and foolproof instructions on completing this quest.

Be sure to engage the Primal Ooze before you release the Encased Corrupt Ooze. Otherwise the quest won't work.

If all goes well, the two will merge and become a Gargantuan Ooze. Kill that (watch out, it makes a clone), loot your quest item, and head back to UC for your just rewards.

If you're too far from the Primal Ooze when you release the Encased Corrupt Ooze, it'll despawn on the ground instead of merging with the Primal Ooze. The item also despawns from your inventory, so you'll have to go back to Undercity to retake the quest.

Let the goo loose on a lvl 52 primal ozze i found in the north west corner of UGC (39,17).

Killed the merged ooze and picked up my drop then sliced and diced then clone and hearthed back to UC.

Release of goo to turn in took all of about five minutes for this lvl 55 rogue )

I found a primal ooze just south of the tar pits.&nbsp After I released the corrupted ooze they merged into a gargantuan ooze (lvl 52)&nbsp I took down the ooze and the replica it made of itself, but i didnt get a merged ooze sample...I got gelatinous goo, lifeless skull, broken arrows but no sample?

I tried merging the sample with a primal ooze just south of Tar Pits today.
The Primal becomes a Monstrous Ooze the same level as the primal was, so it's not that hard a fight
-just be prepared for a clone.

Got the 'Merged Ooze sample'from the Monstrous slime and headed back to Fuely for the reward and 7050 exp at level 54

Easy quest.&nbsp Follow the above instructions, I didn't find the primal o0ze at the tloc he indicated but it's close by, go towards the hills (maybe random loc), but pretty easy, watch out the gargantuan ooze will make a copy of itself (smaller version).. All in all - pretty easy.

Thanks to whoever posted above instructions.

I found a Primal Ooze with no other mobs around--I did not get aggro from the ooze (so that part is not entirely necessary, but you must be close).
I rt-clicked the barrel of Encased Fellwood Ooze.
It released a small (almost cute-looking)little oozling.
The cute little oozling tracked down and merged with the Primal Ooze, and the two-now-one promptly grew to tremendous size. I can see how this might fail if you are not close enough for the Fellwood Oozling to find the Primal Ooze.

The resulting Gargantuan Ooze--aptly named because it is huge, is a bit intimidating however, it goes down easily. I don't know if it spawns clones like the Primal Ooze, because I killed it before it had a chance to spawn anything. Nothing special dropped (except for the quest item--Merged Ooze Sample) from the Gargantuan Ooze.

This part of the quest was fairly easy at lvl 59 because I was higher level than most of the mobs so I could get fairly close without drawing aggro. If you are lower level than the Primal Ooze (I think ~45 - 52) it might be more difficult, but doable. The Gargantuan Ooze was the same level as the Primal Ooze.

Happy Oozing

I was doing the last part of this quest killing the Gargantuan Ooze and got ganked by a NE Rogue. Now I have to go all the way back to the UC.

The quest isn't difficult, but it can be tricky:

1. You draw aggro from an Un'goro primal ooze, no other ooze will work.

2. After you've drawn aggro, and before you've killed the ooze, you right click on the encased Felwood ooze barrel. At that point, the barrel disappears.

3. Your barrel click transforms the primal ooze into a gargantuan ooze, which you must kill along with the cloned primal ooze. If you fail this step, it's back to the Undercity for another barrel.

First time I did and had aggro is created a "Gargantuan ooze" and I killed it and its clone.....nothing looted.

Do it for a second time, same thing happens, this time I get the sample... go figure.

make sure you "cast" the ooze when you're aggroed. If the little green guy doesn't see the little red guy, you'll have to run all the way back to the UC for another barrel.

Don't learn this the hard way :-/

Got mine on the first go around. Guess I was fortunate in that respect.

At 55, 7050 experience and reputation with Undercity greatly increased.
