Gather Un'Goro Slime Samples from any of the slimes in Un'Goro Crater. Then, using the Testing Equipment next to Chemist Fuely in Undercity, see which of your samples are the most pure. Bring 5 of the Pure Un'Goro Samples you find to Chemist Fuely.

Description

Have you heard of the Un'Goro Crater, <name>? It is near the Tanaris desert, and it is a magnificent place: lush, vibrant, full of creatures and plant life.

It is there you must go. Word has reached me that the place seems completely untainted by outside hands. Explorers are just now discovering its secrets.

I would like to test the slimes or oozes there. If it is true--that they are uncorrupt--then I would like to see how such creatures have evolved.

Just a hint:

test all your samples before ending the quest.
E.g. imagine you have 20 samples and after testing 15 of them you have your 5 questitems. If you now end the quest you cannot test the remaining 5 samples because the testset is inactive.
So you have to drop the remaining samples.
But if you test all you may get some items which can be sold.

All the oozes and slimes I encountered had 100% drop rate for the samples. I gathered 20, just to be on the safe side, and had more than enough.

Back in UC, there are two testing bowls on the table. Use the green one for the Un'Goro samples, and the red one for the Felwood samples.

I've got both the Felwood and Un'goro quests.&nbsp It's not bugged.&nbsp One bowl at the chemist's table in UC is for Felwood and the other is for Un'Goro.&nbsp I didn't have to bank anything.

You'll need 50 for the Un'goro quest to be safe.&nbsp You'll probably not use this many, but if you have this many it'll save you the trip back.&nbsp The worst I got was 1:10.

God this quest sucks. Spend your time elsewhere folks. Hardly any oozes, you spend all your time looking for them. Gather 12 oozes only 4 quest items. Go back and gather 5 more, not 1 item. Give me a break. Waste of time, you'd make more XP grinding and probably enjoy it more.

so i guess i was lucky, i took 8 samples and been in UC while making some other quest, ive tried and i got 5 pure samples from 8.

But i was less lucky with A Sample of Slime... quest ( https://classicdb.ch/?quest=4293 ) - got 5 quest items afret testing ~30 samples.

Test all samples before turning in the quest, to get all the drops. After turning in the quest, one cannot test anymore. It might only be worth a few silver, but it is a few silver more.

He's at Coords 47.72. For those with out Cosmos he's in the Apothecarium. You have to cross the river of slime and if you look at the map he's in the second little block that curles around to a large circle. Hope this helps some.

i think something is bugged on this quest..cause when i press " Testing&nbsp for Impurities "&nbsp on the testing equipment"&nbsp it says: failed, Duplicate item not found" ...................and i had 29 of them xD

I grabbed 30 myself since the felwwod slimes (i took 25 back) was down to the wire getting the 5th one on the 24th test.&nbsp Recommend 30 as a good number but it seems from above posts this one isnt as bad as the felwood one.&nbsp Got my 5th one on the 21st test for this crater sample quest.

the way to make this quest bearable is to go to ungoro with the quest and do all your other quests while looking for slimes. Kill the slimes as you do the other quests. The slimes are rare but by the time you leave ungoro after doing all the quests you should have a stack of 20 green ooze bottles.

I got mixed up between and a batch of ooze and a sample of slime and forgot that I could loot the slime when grouped with someone who had that blasted book quest that keeps messing up your drops, YOu cannot skin the skinnable mobs if the other person has the book and has not turned in the quest. By the time i realized my mistake 10 slime bottles of green ooze had gotten away from me.

I found a good area for these, south of Fire Plume Ridge on the map. Also on the western side north of the lake. And also by the small ponds in the south eastern side.

I went to UnGoro gathered 12 bottles of ooze, I return to UC go to the workbench in the Apothecarium. It keeps telling me "Testing for impurities- UnGoro Crater Failed- Duplicate Items found." The insane part is I'm not using the samples because I still have the 12 bottles in my stachel. Can someone please tell me what the step by step instrucstions. Thank you in advance,

I brought 30 samples to Undercity, left with plenty to spare. Brought another 30 from Felwood, plenty to spare.

Go with a lot, don't screw yourself and have to go back for more. Waste of time otherwise.

You could kill any ooze mob, not just primal ooze, since they all dropped the slime sample for me. Lots of oozes in southwest corner. There are more than a few, so not so bad running around to get lots of extras especially while doing other quests too. Primal ooze is harder because it clones, and the clone gives you nothing for quest.

I didn't like hunting the slimes in Un'Goro, they aren't as easy to find as the slimes in Felwood. I brought 12 back with me and made 5 in the first 8. Wouldve sucked if I wouldve made less than needed.

the drop rate for this quest isnt that great...I got 10 samples and because I accidentally abandoned the quest to share another with someone I had grouped with, I cldnt collect more. Went back to UC and tested all of them. Got 4 out of 5 of the needed samples.

However, one good place to look for ooze mobs would be the western area of Ungoro. Mobs are around lvl 53-55 there. I quested there as a lvl 52 warrior with another lvl 50 druid. So it was good. I tanked and he healed.

Ooze mobs are ok to kill. Some of them start to do a clone-y thing when they have 2-3% hp left so a good idea for warriors is to "execute".

Also a good idea that while you are killing ooze mobs, to also pick up these two quests:

(Quest #3882) can get bones off the diems which wander around that area. Mob lvl range from 53-55. Of course other alternative is to pick the bones from carcasses.

(Quest #4503) quest mobs wander around the same area. More time efficient

For the Felwood oozes, brought 25 samples and got 5 pure samples. For the Un'goro oozes, brought 25 samples the first time and got only 4 pure samples. Not wanting to gamble, brought 20 Un'goro ooze samples the second time to pick up the remaining pure Un'goro sample.

Might just be really unlucky or they might have changed it. Took 16 of each of the Felwood & Ungoro slime/ooze with me and only got 2 of each :( Vaguely remember last time I did this quest (sometime in spring 2006) getting a full stack of 5 off of 15 samples of each. Oh well :)

EDIT: Went back with more - totals before I converted the requisite 5 of each were 24 Ungoro samples and 29 Felwood samples. Like I say, may have just been unlucky.

Since you can't test the samples you gather until you get to Undercity - better pick up plenty to cover failed experiments. I went with a stack and have a few left over.

I took a full stack (20) with me, Just In Case. When you have the 5 pure samples, don't turn in the quest yet. You can still test your untested samples, and sometimes you can pull a decent item, like scrolls, out of the sample. Even the gray trash is worth a few copper for your troubles. Can't test them once you turn in the quest.

I had 15 samples and ended up with 4/5 pure, so take a stack of 20 with you to be 100% sure

(Patch 2.3) Got 4 pure samples out of 54 tested... this quest is BULLS$#@!

stack up on these things when you're in ungoro.. avoid the primal ooze, they clone themselves and you won't get any samples from the clone.

I'm glad I read about this quest before I began, because I would have assumed that "5 samples" meant "5 samples"! I guess the quest giver must be an accountant. Anyway, I collected 20 to be on the safe side and it took 10 tries to get the purified samples necessary. Quest was green, got 8450 XP, 65 sp, and 250 rep with UC. Can also confirm that all around 48,65 is a good area to get at least 10 samples, I collected 10 more just riding around Un'Goro.

Hoo-boy, I thought 20 would be enough. Testing yeilded 4 good samples, 3 decomposed boots, 3 gelatinous goo, 2 Large slimy bone, 2 slimy ichor, 5 extinguished torches, 1 raw black truffle, 6 broken arrow, 1 Arthas' tear, & 1 scroll of Int3.
Guess I get to kill some more oozes. I personally avoid the mucelent ooze because they disease -- others do not seem to.

Doing this even for UC rep is annoying, get a bunch, it's easier to get a bunch and have extras then fly back around.
